Pitching Targets

Jason Hammel FD 8600 DK 7900
Opponent - MIL (Nelson) Park - @MIL
FD - 33.9 DK - 21.18

The projection system is quite high on Hammel today, especially on DraftKings where he comes in under the $8K mark. This pick has somewhat the same feel as the Liriano pick form yesterday in that both pitchers have been up and down lately but get a terrific matchup vs. the Brewers. It paid off yesterday as Liriano struck out 13 batters. Believe it or not the Brewers are even worse against right handed pitching as they rank 23rd in wOBA(.306) and have an absolutely horrible 26.2% strikeout rate. Hammel isn't a dominating presence with his 7.56 K/9 rate but should definitely get a bump today.

Matt Shoemaker FD 8700 DK 10000
Opponent - HOU (Young) Park - @HOU
FD - 29.52 DK - 18.99

Finding another pitching option that first with the projections today was quite difficult as hitting once again seems to be the theme for the slate. While Shoemaker is a bit over priced on DraftKings, still presents some value on FanDuel under $9K. I only recommend using him in GPP's tonight to be completely contrarian as the Angels currently sit as under dogs to the Astros in Houston. Why Shoemaker then you ask? I like the upside of his 9.34 K/9 rate which should get a boost tonight as the Astros are currently striking out over 24% of the time vs. right handed pitching. The Angels offense has also been rolling and I feel they can get enough offense to push their wins streak to seven games as they try to claw back into the division race. I don't normally like taking an underdog as my pitcher but with the limited options tonight I will take a chance with the K upside that Shoemaker brings to the table.
