Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.
Stack Targets
Boston Red Sox vs. Tyler Duffey (BOS)
The Red Sox are coming into this contest scoring 15 runs in their last two games, and I just can't see Tyler Duffey slowing them down.
The Red Sox will be playing at home in Fenway, a hitter-friendly park, against a pitcher who owns an ERA over five. It doesn't get much better than this folks. Not sure what else I have to say to get you on board, but if you're not yet; maybe this will do it: The Red Sox rank 1st in wOBA (.354), 1st in wRC+ (117), 5th in ISO (.188) and 1st in OPS (.831) against right-handed pitching. David Ortiz isn't hitting like a guy headed toward retirement with an OPS over 1.000 and top of the order guys like Mookie Betts and Xander Bogaerts have seen a small price dip in the short term. It doesn't get prettier than this; this is where you can almost fade Coors in tournaments with the Sox coming at advantageous price points.
Chicago White Sox vs. Mike Pelfrey (DET)
Oh no.... It's been five days -- do you know what that means?! It's Happy Mike Pelfrey Day! As soon as you walk out of the house and get to your jobs, don't be surprised if you see cakes, piñatas, decorations and all that good stuff! Set your DFS lineups today and make sure to plugin a couple of guys from the White Sox!
Alright Alright -- enough talking bad about Mike Pelfrey, he made it to the show and I didn't, so lets get back to talking stacks.
We all know the drill by now, but let me let you in on some info you probably didn't know. Yes we tend to pick on Pelfrey, but I don't just pick on him, I pick on the bullpen as well. They own a 4.46 ERA (7th in MLB) 1.38 WHIP (11th in MLB) and opponents own a .268 AVG (3rd in MLB). Sure you're picking on the Pelfrey, but the good thing about that is once he's out of the game, your hitters still have an excellent matchup.
Cheers! Hope you spend this wonderful holiday with loved ones and enjoy every moment of it! It only comes every 5-7 days, so you better make it count! (Wouldn't be surprised if he threw a no-no)
Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Matt Garza (MIL)
On the year, Matt Garza owns a 1.72 WHIP, 5.4 K-BB%, 5.74 ERA, 5.10 xFIP and 38.8% hard contact rate. I was not sure on what words I could use to describe his first six starts of the 2016 campaign, so I just laid out all the peripherals out there for you guys to read. He just isn't the same pitcher he once was, so I will go ahead and stack the Pirates tonight. They will be overlooked with so many great stacking options on tonight's slate, so go ahead and fire away!
