Pitching Targets
Note: We discussed Jose Quintana and Carlos Martinez in the Main Article. And will be going over a few more options below.
Jake Arrieta FD 10600 DK 12100
Opponent - NYM (Syndergaard) Park - @CHC
FD - 36.98 DK - 24.35
Yes I know he has been terrible in his last three starts, but look for him to bounce back tonight. He's had a nice long break to clear his mind mentally for this contest. Look at what Jon Lester did. He was struggling before the break and started the second half with a [bang]. I expect Arrieta to do the same thing tonight.
I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt where his last three starts were on the road. Tonight there are no excuses. He will be pitching at Wrigley where he owns a 1.65 ERA, 1.81 FIP and 23.0 K-BB%. He is a completely different animal at home and look for him to take advantage of a Mets' squad that's in the bottom half of the rankings against right-handed pitchers. The matchup is there for him -- now it's time for him to prove to us why he is "one of the top pitchers in the game."
Danny Salazar FD 10300 DK 11300
Opponent - KC (Young) Park - @KC
FD - 33.18 DK - 22.1
If you're looking for some upside, Danny Salazar is your guy. He owns a 27.6 K% to go along with a 82.6 LOB%. He is a tournament only play for me as he can have some control issues (10.8 BB%), but you can't deny his upside. He will be going up against the Royals, whose offense isn't as good as you may think. They own a .309 wOBA (20th in MLB) 90 wRC+ (22nd in MLB) and .131 ISO (29th in MLB) against right-handed pitchers. The matchup is there for him and will be pitching in a pitcher-friendly ballpark, so go ahead and do your thang, Mr.Salazar!
Junior Guerra FD 8300 DK 10400
Opponent - PIT (Taillon) Park - @PIT
FD - 29.67 DK - 19.82
Another tournament play that will allow you to get some Coors bats (on Fanduel) is, Junior Guerra. He has been everything the Brewers had hoped for and more, as he owns a 1.07 WHIP, 3.06 ERA and 22.0 K%. His 3.80 FIP suggests his ERA is going to take a hit, but I don't expect that to happen tonight.
He will be leaving hitter-friendly Miller Park, and will be taking his talents to pitcher-friendly PNC Park. The other good thing about this matchup is the fact that he will be going up against a Pirates' squad that has struggled mightily as of late. They own .289 wOBA (27th in MLB) .149 ISO (27th in MLB) and 24.2 K% (7th in MLB) in their last 14 contests. The matchup is great and Guerra has shown flashes of his potential with monster nights for us on DFS, so I'll go ahead and roll the dice on him tonight.
So yeah, baseball season! And we've got some goodies you can take with you. At the end of the post, we have our MLB eBook that you really ought to check out before setting even a single daily fantasy MLB lineup. It's free, below.
