*I discussed Madison Bumgarner, Stephen Strasburg, and James Paxton in the main article and will touch on a few other viable options for your lineups below*
Opponent - KC (Kennedy) Park - @DET
FD - 34.44 DK - 18.05
He has had a few blips on the radar this season but for the most part has gotten back to the high K upside Verlander we have known to love over the years. The ERA(4.07) and xFIP(4.18) are not great at all but he has gotten away with it recording eight wins so far in 2016. He has elevated his K rate to 9.20 K/9 which is his highest since he finished the 2012 season with a 9.03 K/9 rate. The Tigers and Verlander get a great matchup out of the break against the Royals who have not looked the same after winning the World Series last year. They rank 22nd in wOBA and 29th in ISO vs. right handed pitching and have only scored the 25th most runs in the league. Verlander comes with a very affordable price and with so many other options at pitching tonight, should be fairly low owned as well.
Opponent - MIN (Santana) Park - @MIN
FD - 35.75 DK - 19.54
Another upper tier pitcher in a great spot on Friday coming out of the All Star break. Carrasco went into the All Star break with a terrific 2.47 ERA with an xFIP not much worse at 3.33 for the season. He continues to produce over a 50% ground ball rate which has made up for the slight dip in strikeout rate (8.88 K/9). The 20% HR/FB rate is a bit scary but the Twins shouldn't hurt him tonight as they rank 19th in wOBA and wRC+ vs. right handed pitching. Carrasco went into the break red hot limiting his opponents to two earned runs or less in six straight starts. He could come in a bit lower owned tonight as I feel most people will gravitate to MadBum at the top of the salary list.
So yeah, baseball season! And we've got some goodies you can take with you. At the end of the post, we have our MLB eBook that you really ought to check out before setting even a single daily fantasy MLB lineup. It's free, below.
