*I discussed Chris Sale, Jose Fernandez, and Michael Wacha in the main article and will touch on a few other viable options for today*
Opponent - WSH (Strasburg) Park - @NYM
FD - 37.73 DK - 25.21
The decision was tough to pick between Thor and Strasburg today. Both pitchers are elite aces for their teams in today's lowest projected run scoring game. I sided with Thor as he is playing at home where he holds a 2.02 ERA while limiting opponents to a .242 wOBA and .296 SLG. He had a small scare with a bone spur in his elbow but it didn't seem to affect him much as he went seven innings against the Cubs on Sunday, striking out eight and picking up the win. He comes with an elite strikeout rate(10.96 K/9) and faces the Nationals who are a much better hitting club vs. left handed pitchers.
Opponent - SD (Cashner) Park - @LAD
FD - 34.82 DK - 22.97
Outside of the Marlins and White Sox who are throwing their aces(Fernandez & Sale) out there, the Dodgers and Scott Kazmir are the biggest favorites(-200) on the slate. This makes him a terrific second pitcher option on DraftKings or a contrarian GPP play on FanDuel. Kazmir still possesses the strikeout upside(9.6 K/9) and is coming off one of his best start of the season where he struck out 10 while walking none vs. the Rockies in six innings of three hit shutout ball. The matchup isn't elite by any means as the Padres are actually pretty good against lefties(6th in wOBA) but they strikeout 23.7% of the time.
So yeah, baseball season! And we've got some goodies you can take with you. At the end of the post, we have our MLB eBook that you really ought to check out before setting even a single daily fantasy MLB lineup. It's free, below.
