Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.

Stack Targets

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Mike Pelfrey (Tigers)
Park - Rogers Centre
It’s tough to completely discern why exactly Mike Pelfrey still has an every-five-days major league gig. There’s no real number you can point to that would give me faith in him getting consistent outs from now until the end of the season. He’s sporting a 5.05 xFIP and walking 3.41 batters per nine while only striking out 4.29 per nine. I know K’s aren’t the name of his game, he’s a groundball guy by makeup. But those groundballs aren’t getting down, but instead are heading up and out of the park this season. The Blue Jays have some interesting bats here led by Michael Saunders who’s raking with a mid .900’s OPS on the season. Ezequiel Carrera at the top of the order has a little punch and there’s always Josh Donaldson and Edwin Encarnacion even in the reverse split.

Chicago White Sox vs. Matt Wisler (Braves)
Park - US Cellular Field
There are a number of good-to-great pitchers going on this Friday slate of games. Matt Wisler isn’t one of them. While not bottom-of-the-barrel bad, he isn’t a guy we’re scared of by any means. He strikes out less than seven batters per nine and has an xFlP close in on 5.00 halfway through the season. The White Sox make for a decent value today mostly because they’re coming cheap. That’s the case because they aren’t a very good team. But we can target lesser bats in good matchups when the price is right. Tim Anderson at the leadoff fills a SS need even for a guy who nearly refuses to take a walk (1 BB in 112 PAs this season). But he has some sneaky power upside and wheels to turn loose. Then there’s Jose Abreu whose price has fallen thanks in some part to a dip in HR/FB%. But U.S. Cellular plays to power and I think the Sox could be a sneaky stack here.
So yeah, baseball season! And we've got some goodies you can take with you. At the end of the post, we have our MLB eBook that you really ought to check out before setting even a single daily fantasy MLB lineup. It's free, below.

  • I'm thinking about going total contrarian and stacking Phillies for tonight at Coors in the DraftKings Turbo. Even putting Velasquez as my starter 2. Looking at Howard, Herrera, Franco and maybe Galvis, Blanco or Hernandez. Sprinkle in some White Sox and see what happens.

  • I've tried to get your ebook, several times and still no luck with receiving it. Can you please help me with this issue. Once again, I will enter my info and wait.
