Pitching Targets

Madison Bumgarner FD 12000 DK 13000
Opponent - OAK (Overton) Park - @OAK
FD - 36.7 DK - 24.07

While I went back and forth on who I wanted to put in the main picks article, I ended up going with Gio Gonzalez as he was a bit cheaper and had a better overall match up. That being said, I really like Madison Bumgarner tonight in tournaments. While the Athletics do swing a good bat against southpaws, they also have the tendency to lay down and strikeout a ton when they are not hitting well. Bumgarner has the stuff to demoralize opponents very quickly and if he can start the game strong, I look for him to have a tremendous game. Bumgarner has been one of the best pitchers in the league for a few years now and this season has been no different as he has sported a combined .238 wOBA to go along with a 3.26 xFIP and a 28.6% hard contact rate. Those numbers define what an elite pitcher should look to produce. To be clear, this is not a situation I love in cash games, however, I am a huge fan in GPP's.

Wei-Yin Chen FD 8400 DK 6900
Opponent - ATL (Teheran) Park - @ATL
FD - 27.98 DK - 18.7

While Wei-Yin Chen is one of my favorite guys to target bats against week in and week out, I don't think I will be doing today. I know that I slipped Adonis Garcia into the main picks article but hey, I need my Chen fix. On a real note, the Braves are just absolutely pitiful against lefties which makes it hard to not take a peek at against southpaw that is facing off with them. The Braves have held a league worst .260 wOBA and 64 wRC+. If the Phillies and Braves added together both of their wRC+'s against lefties, they would still only be the 3rd best team in the league. This is one of the worst lineups baseball has seen in a while and it is exceptionally fun to pick on. While Chen is no dominant fireballer, he can still bring it at times as shown by his few games a year where he goes out and produces like an ace. This seems like a perfect spot for one of these starts and I will definitely be getting exposure to him around the industry. While he is more of a tournament play overall, I do not mind him in cash games if you are looking for a lineup with a ton of big bats.

Note - Make sure to comment below if you have any questions on on the pitcher's or if you want to just discuss pitching as a whole on the day, thanks for the read!
