Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.
New York Yankees vs. A.J. Griffin (Rangers)
Park - Yankee Stadium
If you read the picks article, you would know that I am all over the Yankees and White Sox in the early slate. Honestly, both are pretty even for me and I was going back and forth on who to put here. Therefore, I am just going to say that the White Sox are 1-B for me and I think they are a tremendous stack. Back to the point, the New York Yankees. I stacked the Yankees last night and was very upside heading in to about the 7th inning, when things started to go much better. They ended up with 9 runs and the heart of the order got a ton of production. They will look to carry that momentum into today as they will be taking on another pitcher that is very susceptible to home runs and has a bad history against left handers. Over the past full year, Griffin has sported a 4.86 xFIP to lefties that is backed up by both a high hard contact rate and line drive rate. Do not left that low wOBA fool you that is held up by an unsustainable BABIP. My favorite Yankees are going to be whoever ends up at the top of the lineup. While I would predict that would be Gardner, Ellsbury, A-Rod, McCann, Castro and Gregorious, you can never really know with this team. Make sure to keep an eye out for the lineup and once you see it, plug in any of those guys with confidence against Griffin and the stumbling bullpen behind him.
St. Louis Cardinals vs. Chris Young (Royals)
Park - Busch Stadium
The Cardinals are going to be very popular today and while I think they will be highly owned, they may also end up being well worth it. The Royals seem to be a pretty sharp organization but the fact that Chris Young keeps getting starts, is absolutely baffling. He is arguably the worst pitcher in the league that consistently gets starts and until he is removed from the rotation, we need to keep targeting him. Thus far into 2016, Young has been smashed by lefties with a wOBA sitting at .529 that is backed up by 6.29 xFIP and a 53% hard contact rate. That honestly seems like a joke as I am tying this. I truthfully believe at least a quarter of the pitchers they have in the farm system could come in and do at least a little bit better than that, with some hop for the future. I am going to have a ton of exposure to all of the Cardinals lefties and I do not mind any of the righties if they are towards the top of the lineup. While the bullpen does worry me, I think the bats do enough damage to get the bad bullpen arms.
Detroit Tigers vs. Jake Odorizzi (Rays)
Park - Tropicana Field
If you are looking to get sneaky, let's take a look at the Detroit Tigers. While we usually want to target the Tigers against lefties, we are going to give them a look against a righty. Why? Because Jake Odorizzi has huge reverse splits. Since opening day, Odorizzi has given up a .346 wOBA to right handers that is backed up by a putrid 5.05 xFIP and a 39% hard contact rate. With most of the big bats being righties in this lineup, I am smelling some trouble for Odorizzi. Get it? Smelling, ODORizzi. no? Ok. My 5 favorite bats are going to be Ian Kinsler, Miguel Cabrera, Victor Martinez and Justin Upton/Cameron Maybin, whoever is higher in the order. While I do not recommend having the Tigers as the top stack, i think they are a very good stack for a large field, low dollar tournament. With a lot of the field being on the Cardinals and Giants, I think the explosive Tigers offense comes in way too low owned.

Is J.D. Still out tho? I like the Det/CWS
J.d. will be out for another 2 months at least. picking the right tigers is very hard. honestly saltalamachia has been hitting again with regular starts and i think he gets another game tonight with the struggling zimmerman. Also your stacks with the Cards exception the other side of those teams could very well do damage with there own bats. mazara, choo, desmond, fielder, moreland., odor, and profar. Also unless your doing all day sox and tigers wont work.
