Pitching Targets

*Note - I discussed Max Scherzer, Carlos Martinez and Jake Peavy in the Main Article and will cover a few other viable options in this section*
Masahiro Tanaka FD 9500 DK 8800
Opponent - MIN (Milone) Park - @NYY
FD - 36.5 DK - 19.33

The Yankees come into this matchup as the second biggest favorite(-205) on the slate giving Tanaka a great opportunity to pick up the win which is very important on FanDuel and should not be ignored on DraftKings at a sub $9K price tag. He doesn't come with huge upside with a lower 6.60 K/9 rate but gets a great matchup vs. the Twins who rank 22nd in wOBA vs. right handed pitching while striking out 22.3% of the time. Tanaka has been much better on the road this season due to the left handed power upside for the opposition in Yankee stadium. I am not concerned about this as the Twins are not heavy on left handed power bats in their lineup. Tanaka faced the Twins in his last start going eight innings of one run ball while striking out five and walking none. Take the savings and high win probability and pair him with Scherzer on DraftKings and consider him on FanDuel in any format.
Jameson Taillon FD 7200 DK 7500
Opponent - LAD (Tepesch) Park - @PIT
FD - 29.15 DK - 19.05

After Scherzer and some of the value options there is a lot of guys who could be viable for GPP's but come with big risks. Of these secondary options Taillon is my favorite. He was beat up in his last start giving up three long balls and only lasting four innings against the Cubs. I think he can rebound today in a much better matchup vs. the Dodgers who rank 23rd in wOBA vs. right handed pitcher with a 20.8% strikeout rate. Taillon will also be pitching at home in great pitchers park and the Pirates are slight favorites(-125). Take a shot with Taillon in GPP's today and load up on the bats in great spots.
