Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.

Stack Targets

Chicago Cubs vs. Michael Wacha (Cardinals)
Park - Wrigley Field

The Cubs present a terrific stacking opportunity in the early slate on Wednesday. They have scored the second most runs(366) in the majors next to the Red Sox and have an amazing +169 run differential and sit wit the best record(47-22) in baseball. They rank 6th in wOBA(.334) and 5th in wRC+(108) vs. right handed pitching and can definitely put fear into an opposing pitcher. That pitcher today will be Michael Wacha of the Cardinals who has struggled mightily after a breakout 2015 season. In his last 10 starts he has recorded an 0-7 record with 5.22 ERA with an ugly 3.53 BB/9 rate. He has been equally as bad vs. RH and LH batters when looking at wOBA but it is advised to get as many lefties in your stack as possible as Wacha is giving up a 34.7% hard hit contact rate vs. right handed batters. Anthony Rizzo, Jason Heyward and Ben Zobrist make a great core.

Also Consider - Toronto Blue Jays vs. Robbie Ray (Diamondbacks)

Baltimore Orioles vs. Erik Johnson (Padres)
Park - Oriole Park at Camden Yards

The evening slate brings us more great stacking options with the Orioles right at the top of the list. They get an elite matchup vs. a pitcher is not long for the big leagues if he continues to serve up the long ball at this current rate. He came over in the James Shields trade and in two starts with the Padres has given up 10 earned runs in 10.2 innings pitched. In those two starts he has surrendered five home runs while only striking out five and walking four batters. In all four starts combined this season Johnson has allowed teams a 42.3% hard hit contact rate which well below average. While his wOBA(.392) vs. left handed batters is bad, his wOBA(.526) vs. right handed batters is even worse. You can pretty much go any way you want with the O's but I would suggest forming a core around Chris Davis and Mark Trumbo with Pedro Alvarez being a terrific value who kills right handed pitching.

Also Consider - Minnesota Twins vs. Adam Morgan (Phillies)
