Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.
Seattle Mariners vs. Mike Pelfrey (DET)
The Seattle Mariners are my top stack of the night. They will be going up against right-hander Mike Pelfrey, who has just been awful this season. I'm going to start off by saying that he owns a 4.79 ERA that is backed up by a 5.37 SIERA. I honestly didn't think there could be regression for the right-hander, but apparently there is some heading his way (guess it's going to get even uglier for Pelfrey). He also owns a 1.70 WHIP and 1.6 K-BB%. It's been an ugly year for the 32-year-old, so stacking the Mariners is the way to go.
Not only is the matchup a thing of beauty for Seattle bats, but they are also great offensively against right-handers. On the year, they own a 115 wRC+ (3rd in MLB), .338 wOBA (5th in MLB) and .183 ISO (8th in MLB). These guys have the ability to hit for power and score runs in bunches, so look for the to have a big night.
Red Sox vs. Miguel Gonzalez (BOS)
I know Miguel Gonzalez was off to a nice start, but let's be honest -- he isn't a very good pitcher. Since 2015, he owns a 1.43 WHIP and 4.86 FIP. When a pitcher allows close to a runner and a half on base, that is trouble awaiting to happen. Which will be the case for him tonight.
He will be going up against a Red Sox team that has had one of the best offenses in baseball. They own .358 wOBA (1st in MLB) .191 ISO (4th in MLB) and 121 wRC+ (1st in MLB). These guys have been putting on a show offensively on a nightly basis, and look for that to continue tonight against a not-so-great right-handed pitcher.
Colorado Rockies vs Paul Clemens (MIA)
Paul Clemens will be called up from Triple-A to make a spot-start for the Marlins tonight. You know what that means?! Get some exposure to those Rockies' bats.
You probably don't know a whole lot about Mr. Clemens, but let me get you up to date. I'm going to start off by saying the he isn't a highly touted prospect. As a matter of fact, he was not even pitching well in the minors. He had an ERA over 4 in the minors this season, so this is a move out of desperation for the Marlins. In his minor league career, he owned an 8.8 BB%, 5.81 FIP and 14.7 K% . So there is nothing to be scared about. The Rockies should have no problem making contact and getting on base. I know the Rockies don't have many notes on the right-hander and will be hitting at spacious Marlins park, but Clemens is not a good pitcher and should be one to target against in tournaments tonight. And things could get ugly if the Marlins are forced to go to their bullpen (which I see happening).

Thanks for all you projections. I'm hot, 5 for last 6 days in cash games!
I'm really liking Boston as stack tonight. With their recent struggles, I think they'll be low owned. I think they are showing some signs of breaking out of their funk. I expect everyone today to be on Pelfrey. May not be a bad day to fade in GPP
Jeff Locke has been horrible forever. Only thing gonna stop SF tonight would be the weather
@Andy I have the same exact thinking, Andy. Boston will be under-owned with Pelfrey and other not-so-great pitchers on the bump.
@Michael San Fran is a nice stack as well.
Secondis tough today unless you go with Cano or Pedroia. Both are too expensive to fit into my lineup. Right now I have Schoop rostered but don't feel great about it because he's so much better against right handers. Any thoughts, advice?
Yeah it looks like you gotta pay up for 2nd base which is never the case... MMMM .... you could go Logan Forsythe as a cheap option. Maybe a nice punt play opens up at 2nd today.. I think the best guy under 4k right now is Forsythe
Cano is only 3-17 lifetime against Pelfrey.. Anything to consider there?
Not a big enough sample size for me personally. Pelfrey has been bad this year and Cano has been good.
I understand if you fade Cano for cheaper options at 2nd base. Some good options today: Odor, Forsythe, Pedroia, Altuve and Zobrist. (not in order)
@Nick Forsythe looks pretty good. Thanks for the tip.
