A quick heads up - we post an updates article every day in the early afternoon, EST, to catch everyone up on how things are changing as a result of whatever news has come through. We also have great talks in the comments of that article. Hope to see you there!

Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.

Stack Targets

N.Y. Yankees vs. Jorge De La Rosa (COL)

The Yankees are going to be playing their next two contests at Coors, so go ahead and load up on some Yankees' bats for the next couple of days. I know they already play in a great hitters park out in Yankee Stadium, but the altitude and humidity at Colorado just makes the ball fly out of the bat, which will help these veterans out quite a bit. They will also be going up against southpaw Jorge De La Rosa. He is making his first start fresh out of the 15-day DL, so it could take some time for him to get the rust out of his arm. Before his stint to the DL, he had made nine starts and owned a 2.27 HR/9 rate and 5.64 FIP (ouch). The Yankees are actually one of the worse teams in the league against southpaws, but they will be playing at Coors and going up against De La Rosa, who struggled mightily before heading to the DL (he gave up over two homers per game)! So don't be scared and get some exposure to these old guys!

Note: Colorado bats are in play as well but didn't want to write an article about Coors, so these next two stacking options are great tournament stacks if you want to fade Coors.

Detroit Tigers vs. Miguel Gonzalez (CWS)

The Tigers came up big for us yesterday, so I decided to go ahead and roll with them again tonight. James Shields had trouble once again last night, and a total of six guys were used out of the pen. Miguel Gonzalez owns a 4.44 xFIP, so he could easily get in trouble against this power-hitting Tigers' squad and the worn out bullpen will be called upon once again. The Tigers have a favorable matchup against Miguel Gonzalez and a tired bullpen, so look for them to take advantage. I know this Detroit squad features a lot of right-handed hitters, but they own a .332 wOBA (6th in MLB) and .171 ISO (10th in MLB) against right-handed pitchers this season. So in other words -- watch out!

Texas Rangers vs Eric Surkamp (TEX)

There is no better person to pick on today than Eric Surkamp. Let's just say the only thing he's got going for him is that he will be pitching at home. Everything else -- is just [bad]. He is coming into this contest sporting a 6.41 ERA and 6.84 xFIP (yikes). He has had trouble keeping the ball on the ground 31.1 GB%, and pitching to a Rangers' squad that owns a .432 SLG (8th in MLB) against southpaws, won't help his cause. They also own a .329 wOBA (7th in MLB) and 101 wRC+ (10th in MLB). The Rangers have just crushed southpaws this season and will be going up against one that has an xFIP over 6. I know we got games at Coors and Chase Field tonight, but this is a nice pivot from those games in tournaments.

So yeah, baseball season! And we've got some goodies you can take with you. At the end of the post, we have our MLB eBook that you really ought to check out before setting even a single daily fantasy MLB lineup. It's free, below.

  1. Boston is always in play. Tillman has just been excellent this year, which is why they aren’t my favorite.
