Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.
Stack Targets
L.A. Angels vs. Ricky Nolasco (MIN)
I'm going to start off by saying that there are a ton of teams that are "stackable" tonight. There is no "safe" option on the hill tonight, so this will definitely be an interesting slate. So I have decided to give you three stacks that will be lower-owned on the night and I see having big days. With that being said -- the first team I am looking to stack tonight is the L.A. Angels.
They will be going up against Ricky Nolasco who has struggled in recent years. Since 2014, Nolasco owns a 5.51 ERA that is backed up by a 3.99 FIP. His FIP suggests that he isn't as bad as his ERA suggests, but we all know the type of pitcher Nolasco is. He is either amazing out there or absolutely awful. The Halos' are in the middle of the pack against right-handed pitchers. They own a 100 wRC+ (15th in MLB) and .311 wOBA (19th in MLB). If the Angels' two big bats (Mike Trout and Albert Pujols) catch fire, you better watch out.
With Vegas having this game at a 9-run total (tied for highest on the slate) and the wind projected to be blowing out at 10 mph towards right-center, I will take my chances on the Halos'.
Oakland Athletics vs. Cesar Ramos (TEX)
It's not everyday you see an Athletics' stack being recommended on a stacking article, but that's the case today. I'm going to start off by saying that the A's crush left-handed pitchers, as they own a .171 ISO against left-handed pitchers (9th in MLB). Danny Valencia, Marcus Semien and Khris Davis are a few guys that do heavy damage against southpaws. They hit for a ton of power, and going up against southpaw Cesar Ramos will help them out.
Ramos will be making a spot-start for Yu Darvish. This will probably turn into a bullpen game for the Rangers, which is never a good thing no matter how good a bullpen is. The Athletics are a team that no one is looking to stack on this slate, even though every team is in play tonight, but this could turn into a long night for the Rangers' bullpen, which is why I will have some exposure to these guys.
Cincinnati Reds vs Aaron Blair (ATL)
Alright this stack will be higher-owned tonight, but I could not finish this article without talking about the Reds. Let's just say they will be going up against Aaron Blair... Did that convince you already? If not I'm sure me talking about him will do the trick. Aaron Blair and his 5.91 xFIP will be taking on the Reds tonight. Blair has struggled with a -0.6 K-BB% (That is just insane!) and 1.84 WHIP. The 24-year-old has not had a great start in the big leagues, which is why I will take the Reds' offense tonight. While Blair doesn't give up a ton of long balls, he does give up a ton of hits and has trouble leaving men stranded on the base paths. Look for the Reds to do some damage at Turner Field tonight.

Thoughts on a D-Backs stack?
Not my favorite, but they are in play.
thoughts on this lineup in a big tournament:
Greinke, saltalamacchia, miguel cabrera, scooter gennett, marcus semien, danny valencia, cameron maybin, jd martinez, david peralta
I like that lineup a lot, Christian
ok thanks for the feedback Nick!
Trout playing tonight?
Not sure. They said it was not “serious.” will update the news article once I find out.
Thanks, Nick. Not sure who to put in place of Trout. JD Martinez, Harper? Already have Desmond and Bruce. Braun with 15 mph wind blowing out seems nice too.
I like the wind blowing out in Oakland and Anaheim tonight.
Just saw Martinez is out, so I recommend Harper between the 2. Haha
Thanks, Nick. Just saw that too. Right now, I have Bruce, Trout, Desmond.
Sorry Mathew wrong Martinez… I give a slight edge to J.D. for GPP. Love your point about Braun as well
I’m not to sure about stacking against any Texas pitchers. Recommended stacks against Colby several times, and he shines. Martin Perez, and he shines. Just sayin….Oh and yes I am from Texas 🙂
@Gary haha. Colby hurt me last time. And I guess I will do it one more time and if it does not work — I am officially done picking on your squad
1. Wright, Lucroy, Myers, Kinsler, Donaldson, Semien, Trout, Bruce, Saunders
2. Dickey, Castillo, Myers, Gennet, Castellanos, Nunez, Harper, Kemp, Bruce
3. Wright, Lucroy, Smoak, Murphy, Donaldson, Cozart, Bautista, Harper, Saunders
4. Wright, Ramos, Pujols, Kinsler, Donaldson, Nunez, Trout, Calhoun, Bruce
These are the lines I’m playing. What are your thoughts?
With Encarnacion, Martinez and Vogt now out i had to change a few in the line up.
Any updates on Trout?
If there isn’t a lineup in by 7PM I’m not comfortable with him in lineups
from what i understand it was a light contusion and coaches expected him to play. let’s hope as lines are now live.
