Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.

Stack Targets

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Alfredo Simon (Reds)
Park - Great American Ballpark

The Cardinals are my top stack of the day as they come into the is game as the 2nd ranked team in wOBA(.347), wRC+(119) and the 1st ranked team in ISO(.202) vs. right handed pitching. They have scored the second most runs in the majors this season with 313 runs and a +53 run differential(4th best in MLB). The Cards also get a positive park shift going to one of the best hitters parks in all of baseball, Great American Ballpark where the third most home runs have been hit this season. The Reds will be throwing Alfredo Simon on the mound in to make his 11th start of the season. It has been a rough go for Simon early in the year as he is currently pitching to a 8.94 ERA and 5.41 xFIP and is walking over four batters per nine innings. The biggest issue for Simon has been the long ball as he has given up four multi home run games(one to the Cards) this season for an awful 22.6% HR/FB rate. All signs point to the Cards reaching and exceeding their projected run total of 5.11 today.

New York Yankees vs. Jered Weaver (Angels)
Park - Yankee Stadium

The Yankees have taken each of the first two games from the Angels outscoring them 11-5. Tonight they are in a great spot to bring out the brooms and sweep those Angels out of town. The Angels will throw Jered Weaver on the bump who has a positive record(5-4) on the season but has been pretty bad in the process.  The strikeout decline is real and after a 2015 season where he only struck out 5.09 batters per nine he is only striking out 5.60 batters per nine this season. He is serving up more fly balls than ever before(29.4% GB rate) and is getting hurt when doing so with a 14% HR/FB rate and has given the opponents at least one HR in 10 of his 11 starts this season. The best targets in the Yankee lineup will be the left handed bats(Ellsbury, Gardner, Beltran, and McCan) as Yankee stadium plays as the best power park in the majors for lefties.

Also Consider - Minnesota Twins vs. Wei-Yin Chen (Marlins)
