Nordea Masters

Bro Hof Slott Golf Club - Stockholm Sweden

Par 72 - 7,511 Yards

Welcome to my first crack at Daily Fantasy European Tour Golf. I was extremely excited to see DraftKings open this up last week and decided to implement my cheatsheet to the European Tour. I have also decided to do a small write up to preview the tournament and highlight a few of my favorite plays each week. Let's dig in.

The European Tour heads to Stockholm, Sweden this week for the 2016 Nordea Masters. The tournament has been on the schedule since 1991 and has seen seven different venues host the event. This year will be the third time that Bro Hof Slott Golf Club will host the tournament. It also hosted back in 2012 and 2010. The course is a bit of a monster Par 72 at 7,511 yards and unlike the traditional courses has five Par 5's and five Par 3's. Get ready for some low scoring. Lee Westwood shot a 19 under par to win this event back in 2012 when it was last hosted at Bro Hof Slott Golf Club. Westwood will be eyeing his fourth Nordea Masters title this weekend.

The course will favor the long hitters due to the length and with the wider fairways will put less of an emphasis on accuracy off the tee. Don't discount the accuracy altogether though as there is water and sand scattered throughout the course. Below is a list of all the stats used on the Euro Tour and all will be used in my model this week.

  • Driving Distance
  • Driving Accuracy
  • Greens in Regulation
  • Stroke Average
  • Sand Saves
  • Scrambling
  • Putts Per GIR
  • Putts Per Round

My European Tour cheatsheet will be included in the $5 price of my regular PGA Premium content. If you have any questions about the article, cheatsheet, or anything fantasy golf hit me up on Twitter(Jager_Bombs9) or leave your questions in the comments section below.

High End Targets ($9,000+)

Rikard Karlberg
Vegas Odds - 28/1
Draftkings - $9,700

He ranks #1 in my model this week and comes in as the 6th highest priced golfer in the field on DraftKings.  He ranks 3rd when looking at the weighted stat rankings and has made the cut at this tournament three years in a row. That isn't what swayed me towards him being my top pick. It was the current form he comes here with. He finished 2nd at the BMW PGA Championship last week and has three top 10 finishes in his last four tournaments(Shenzhen International and Dubai Duty Free Irish Open). He has also shot 67 or better in the final round of five of his last six tournaments. Dude can close on Sunday. Take the savings and build a more balanced lineup with Karlberg who has big upside this week.

  • Driving Distance - 51
  • Driving Accuracy - 156
  • Greens in Regulation - 63
  • Stroke Average - 9
  • Sand Saves - 70
  • Scrambling - 24
  • Putts Per GIR - 41
  • Putts Per Round - 36

Thomas Pieters
Vegas Odds - 28/1
Draftkings - $9,400

He fits the bomber profile as he ranks 13th on Tour with a  300+ average driving distance. He also ranks 30th in scoring average and is a terrific scrambler ranked 12th. He has winning upside as he proved last season with back to back wins in late August/early September shooting under 70 in all eight rounds. If he can drop some putts this week he will be in contention.

  • Driving Distance - 13
  • Driving Accuracy - 182
  • Greens in Regulation - 81
  • Stroke Average - 30
  • Sand Saves - 140
  • Scrambling - 12
  • Putts Per GIR - 161
  • Putts Per Round - 122

Also Consider - Alex Noren, Ross Fisher

Mid Tier Targets ($7,000 - $9,000)

Bradley Dredge
Vegas Odds - 40/1
Draftkings - $8,800

He had a disappointing finish with a missed cut at the BMW Masters and hopefully this creates a low ownership because he was in great form prior to that tournament. He finished T2 at the Irish Open, T15 at the China Open and solo 7th at the Shenzhen International. He is average in driving distance and accuracy but makes up for it in scrambling and with elite putting. He has finished inside the Top 25 at the Nordea Masters in each of the last two years and the two time European Tour winner could easily top that this week.

  • Driving Distance - 91
  • Driving Accuracy - 78
  • Greens in Regulation - 108
  • Stroke Average - 7
  • Sand Saves - 128
  • Scrambling - 3
  • Putts Per GIR - 21
  • Putts Per Round - 6

Romain Wattel
Vegas Odds - 33/1
Draftkings - $8,300

Wattel makes a terrific value according to my cheatsheet where he ranks 4th in my model and comes in as the 15th most expensive option on DraftKings. He is a great ball striker who drives the ball about 295 yards off the tee hitting over 60% of his fairways and over 70% of greens in regulation. He has been up and down in 2016 with eight missed cuts in 15 events but is coming in with some momentum after a terrific 4th place finish at the BMW PGA Championship. He is another golfer who ranks low in the putting stats but if he can put together another solid effort like last week he should end up with a solid finish.

  • Driving Distance - 49
  • Driving Accuracy - 72
  • Greens in Regulation - 31
  • Stroke Average - 46
  • Sand Saves - 60
  • Scrambling - 109
  • Putts Per GIR - 160
  • Putts Per Round - 191

Also Consider - Jorge Campillo

Low End Target (Min Price - $6,900)

Jens Dantorp
Vegas Odds - 150/1
Draftkings - $6,600

He is a Challenge Tour player(2nd Tier Tour udner Euro Tour) who is playing very well lately with rounds of 70 or better in 12 of his last 15 rounds of golf. He doesn't have enough rounds on the Euro Tour to register for stats but drives the ball over 300 yards off the Tee and and hits just below 60% greens in regulation. He makes a nice addition for a stars and scrubs GPP lineup.

  • No stats registered as not enough rounds on the European Tour this season.

Also Consider - Chris Hanson
