Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.

Stack Targets

Washington Nationals vs. Brandon Finnegan (Reds)
Park - Great American Ballpark
Friday is a weird one as there are many above average arms going. It’s tough to work around situations like that and we tend to want to drill down to the couple of weaker pitchers throwing. Brandon Finnegan is one of those guys. On the season he’s allowing a 5.00 xFIP while walking close to 4.5 per nine. Those numbers, combined with a reduced 6.5 K/9 rate and you get a lot of chances for the Nationals getting on base. Great American Ballpark plays as one of the best hitter’s havens in baseball and the Nationals should have one of the highest run expectations on the board. They’ve struggled with their leadoff slot this season but guys like Jayson Werth, Ryan Zimmerman and Anthony Rendon all have hit lefties much better for their careers. This looks to be one of the better stacks on the day.

Boston Red Sox vs. R.A. Dickey (Blue Jays)
Park - Fenway Park
The Red Sox are weird in that they’re very much priced like a team that’s crushed the ball all season long. They are plus 76 in run differential on the season and have scored about 40 more runs than the next closest team (the Cubs). That’s an amazing feat of mashing and there doesn’t seem to be any signs of slowing down. R.A. Dickey comes in with his knuckleball, mid 4’s xFIP, sub seven per nine K rate and not much in the way of confidence when it comes to getting through this order. Mookie Betts has been on a world crushing tour, but the middle of the order bats also play with Xander Bogaerts, David Ortiz and Travis Shaw all looking to make hay.
Also Consider - Pirates vs. Jered Weaver
