Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.

Stack Targets

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Zach Davies(MIL)

If you are jumping in the early slate today the Cardinals are the top option if you are looking for a stack. They will face Zach Davies and his 5.40 ERA in Miller Park(Top 5 hitters park). Davies has struggled with a low K rate(6.4 K/9) and is giving up a 39.7% hard hit ball rate. Combine the hard hit ball rate with the awful HR/FB rate(17.5%) and you have a great target to stack against. The Cardinals rank #2 in team wOBA(.352) and 3rd in wRC+(121) vs. right handed pitching. Matt Carpenter should be leading off again and makes a great start to your stack from the top of the order followed by the surprising Aledmys Diaz, Matt Holliday, and Stephen Piscotty and Matt Adams to round out the top 6 in the lineup.

Both Sides of the Orioles/Red Sox Game vs. Weak Pitching

Outside of the Reds/Rockies game at Coors Field this game has the highest total(9.5) of the slate. The Red Sox offense ranks #1 in the league with 308 runs scored and they also rank #1 in team wOBA(.360) and wRC+(125) vs. right handed pitching. They will face Mike Wright tonight who they faced back on April 12th and scored four earned runs with a homer against him. Wright strikes out less than seven batters per nine innings and definitely will not scare the Red Sox hitters. The best option will be to go with any combination of the top five in the Sox lineup.

The Orioles, on the other side of the field, sit in the middle of the pack when it comes to runs scored this season but rank 7th in team woBA(.334) and 6th in wRC+(109) vs. right handed pitching. The O's have been slumping having lost seven of their last nine games but will be in a great spot vs. Joe Kelly to get things turned around. In five starts this season, Kelly has only made it into the 6th inning once. He has big strikeout upside(11.7 K/9 rate) but also struggles in a big way with control(7.2 BB/9 rate). He has also give up the long ball this year with a horrible 30.8% HR/FB rate. Ugly! He struggles vs. both sides of the plate giving up a .407 wOBA to LH batters and a .397 wOBA to RH batters. Any of the top six batters in the lineup are in play.

Also Consider - Houston Astros vs. LH Robbie Ray

  • Hello,
I'm sorry to have to post this here but I could not figure out how else to get a response since I have gotten non deliver able messages when trying to send my inquiry to the emails listed on this site. How do we cancel our memberships to the premium subscription? I enjoy the articles but am just going to go back to using my own research. Thanks

    • Eh it happens. They came in 4+ runs under the Vegas line. That won't happen. Ran into a career game from Davies. Would run them again in a heartbeat same situation.

  • wow! after that response to the user who wants to cancel his membership i doubt anyone would subscribe to this site. the reply is not only shocking but they sound really desperate for money. pretty freakin' sad.

    • That wasn't a response from our site. I didn't notice that comment but deleted. User request handled off site of course.

  • Please don't turn this into a trolling forum. Keep comments to swap advice and ideas.

  • Ya I whiffed on the Cards stack but didn't expect that kind of game from Davies. Sure making up for it with the BAL/BOS recommendation. 15 runs in 4 innings. I sure didn't get enough exposure for this output wow.
