A quick heads up - we post an updates article every day in the early afternoon, EST, to catch everyone up on how things are changing as a result of whatever news has come through. We also have great talks in the comments of that article. Hope to see you there!
Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.
(Hitter stats provided are vs. the handiness of the pitcher they are facing)
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Alfredo Simon (CIN)
A lot of people are talking about a Coors stack (which I like a lot), but why not stack the Brewers? They will be going up against Alfredo Simon who has just been awful this season. He owns a 10.16 ERA, which is backed up by a 6.72 FIP. Things have not been pretty for him this season, so stack the Brew-Crew!
Everyone on the Brewers side is in play. Batters 1-9. Yes, If I could roster Chase Anderson as a hitter, I probably would. These sites won't let me roster 9 Brewers, so I have narrowed it down for you guys. The guys I love are Ryan Braun (.415 wOBA), Jonathan Lucroy (.394 wOBA) (makes sure he starts), Aaron Hill (.354 wOBA) and Scooter Gennett (.151 ISO). These guys have had the most success against right-pitchers this season for the Brewers (exception of Gennet), so go ahead and get them on your squads. No one is a bad play on the Brewers side of things this afternoon.
San Francisco Giants vs. Eddie Butler (COL)
Eddie Butler is not a terrible pitcher (actually a solid one), but playing at Coors against a team that doesn't strikeout that often is not a good formula. Butler is a guy that pitches to contact, as he owns a 15.3 K%, so look for the Giants to rack up the hits. They have been average against right-handed pitchers this season, but look for them to perform at a high level today. When looking at this squad -- Brandon Belt (.354 wOBA), Brandon Crawford (.340 wOBA) and Joe Panik (.196 ISO) stick out the most to me. They have done the most damage against right-handed pitchers this season and all have a favorable R/L matchup. A couple of other guys you can consider putting into your squad are Buster Posey (of course) and Matt Duffy (hits righties better than lefties in his career). The Giants get a huge ball park boost and I expect for them to take advantage. This game has a 10-run total, so watch out for these guys!
Seattle Mariners vs Phil Hughes (MIN)
Quite a few stacking options on tonight's slate, but the one I keep turning to is the Mariners. They will be going up against Phil Hughes, which provides them with a great matchup. Phil Hughes has not been as bad as Alfredo Simon, but he has not been good either. He owns a 5.55 ERA on the year to go along with a 4.71 xFIP. He also owns a 37.7 GB%, so look for the Mariners to get a lot of extra base hits in this contest.
Similar to the Brewers, I like everyone from top-to-bottom of the lineup. Robinson Cano and Nelson Cruz are more of the obvious options, so I will name you a few guys that will be overlooked: 1. Adam Lind. He started off the year very very very slow, but has picked it up as of late. He smashes right-handed pitchers, so look for him to do some damage. 2. Kyle Seager. He has been killing it! He owns a .401 wOBA against righties this season. 3. Seth Smith. He owns a .349 wOBA this season against righties and is another guy who has picked it up as of late.
So yeah, baseball season! And we've got some goodies you can take with you. At the end of the post, we have our MLB eBook that you really ought to check out before setting even a single daily fantasy MLB lineup. It's free, below.
