A quick heads up - we post an updates article every day in the early afternoon, EST, to catch everyone up on how things are changing as a result of whatever news has come through. We also have great talks in the comments of that article. Hope to see you there!
Note - I mentioned Jake Arrieta, Hisashi Iwakuma, and Junior Guerra in the main article and will touch on a few more GPP options for today on a really tough slate for pitching.
Early Slate
Opponent - SD (Shields) Park - @SF
FD - 36.9 DK - 19.65
As I mentioned many times throughout the main article, there are not many attractive pitching options today outside Jake Arrieta. In the early slate you could make a case for Jake Peavy as a decent play in a terrific pitchers park vs. the Padres who rank dead last in team wOBA vs. right handed pitching while striking out 24.8% of the time. Peavy has been awful, to say the least, this year with a 1-5 record and 8.21 ERA but there is some room for positive regression as indicated by the 4.85 xFIP and .388 BABIP. There is no way he will get back to his elite self from years past but he can be a serviceable option at a very affordable price.
Evening Slate
Opponent - MIL (Guerra) Park - @ATL
FD - 35.25 DK - 18.54
If Junior Guerra doesn't float your boat tonight but you want to take advantage of the low total in this game give Foltynewicz a chance in your lineup. He is another very affordable option that will allow you to load up on the bats and he isn't as bad as the ERA(4.57) suggests. He is striking out over seven batters per nine innings which should get a boost tonight vs. the Brewers who are striking out over 27% of the time vs. right handed pitching. He has great control(.83 BB/9) and his HR/FB rate is a bit skewed as he gave up three long balls in his first start of year. His xFIP of 3.87 suggests he is a much better pitcher and if the Braves could score him some runs he could be on the winning side more often but that is completely out of his hands.
So yeah, baseball season! And we've got some goodies you can take with you. At the end of the post, we have our MLB eBook that you really ought to check out before setting even a single daily fantasy MLB lineup. It's free, below.
