Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.

Stack Targets

Detroit Tigers vs. Ricky Nolasco

If you are playing the early slate and looking for a stack, the Tigers present the best option in a favorable home matchup vs. Ricky Nolasco. The Tigers rank 7th in the majors vs. right handed pitching with a .332 wOBA and a 146 wRC+ on the season. Nolasco has really struggled this season with a 4.87 ERA and has given up four or more earned runs in four straight and five of his last six starts. He has also given up six home runs in his last four starts with a 13.5% HR/FB rate. The best hitters to target in the Tigers lineup are the Top 5 in the lineup,(Kinsler, J.D. Martinez, Cabrera, Victor Martinez, and Nick Castellanos).

Both Sides of the Yankees vs. Diamondbacks Game

This game has the highest total of the day and both sides make great stacking options for tournaments. The games will be played in Chase Field which is  heavy hitters park and both teams are throwing out weaker pitchers who give up home runs. Eovaldi has gone 2-0 in his last three starts but don't let that scare you as in those games he has given up three home runs and a total of 11 earned runs. He is a ground ball pitcher(52%) but when he gives up fly balls they are going over the fence(17.9%). He struggles against both sides of the plate but much more against left handed bats(.400 wOBA against). I will be targeting Chris Herrman(provided he is back in the 2 hole) and Jake Lamb mostly but Jean Segura, Paul Goldschmidt, and Wellington Castillo are also in play.

On the other side of the ball we have the Yankees hitters facing gas can Shelby Miller. He has lacked any sign of control this season walking almost six batters per nine innings. He is an extreme fly ball pitcher(39% GB rate) and has trouble keep opponents in the ball park with a 17.8% HR/FB rate. With the Yankees having two switch hitters in Carlos Beltran and Mark Teixeira they can roll out close to a full lineup of left handed hitters. This oculd be trouble for Miller who has given up a .398 wOBA against left handed hitters this season while striking out just seven and walking 17. The best stacking option would be the Top 5 hitters(Gardner, Ellsbury, Teixeira, Mccann, and Beltran).

  • tribes been killn it and they facing subpar pitching almost 30 runs in last 2 games

  • Yes I didn't mention them here as I talked about a few of them in the main article. Rajai Davis also makes the "Every Lineup Guys" in the news article leading off today. Lindor kills left handed pitching.

  • atl is going to get wildcard finally get rid off feddy g
Man i really hated that guy he made a lot of bad call for atlanta

  • Ari/NYY stack not good. I will not stack the yankees anymore this season. Does not work. How did I miss the clev/cin game. I know it is a long season, but nobody is getting the stacks right in the articles. Losing money. I need to ride clev. or balt every night.

    • Our projection system was on Cle who we covered some in the picks. Davis and Lindor were in optimal lineups (Hamilton and Votto as well on DK).

Taking a "never again" approach is missing the forest for the trees IMO. Though I know what it's like to get burned. I'm staring at a Heyward 0-5 with a CS that has me on minor tilt.
