Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.

Stack Targets

Chicago Cubs vs. Jeff Locke (PIT)

The Cubs will be going up against Jeff Locke today, which provides Cubs' hitters with a beautiful matchup. Locke has been a solid starter in the past, but has struggled this season. He owns with a 4.68 ERA and has a FIP of 4.66 to back it up. He also has a 13 BB%, which shows us that he does not have control of his pitches. And he owns a 1.68 WHIP. He is allowing close to two base runners per inning on the base paths, which only means one thing for the Cubbies -- RUNS!

We all know the Cubbies hit right-handed pitching hard, but don't under estimate them against left-handed pitching. They own a .350 wOBA (5th in MLB) and 117 wRC+ (4th in MLB) against left-handed pitching. When looking for particular hitters in this contest, it's tough to pin-point four guys out because I love them all, but I would stack the following guys: Ben Zobrist (.441 wOBA), Javier Baez (.407 wOBA), Dexter Fowler (.371 wOBA) and Kris Bryant (.353 wOBA). Those four guys devour southpaws, so they will be leading the pack in my Cubs stack. I also love Anthony Rizzo (162 ISO). (Those stats are their season stats vs. left-handed pitching).

Jeff Locke owns a .375 wOBA vs. right-handed hitters and a .328 wOBA against left-handed batters, so guys from both sides of the plate are in play. And please -- don't be shy about rostering Rizzo into your lineups. He will be a lower-owned Cub and could easily be the guy that scores the most fantasy points on this squad.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Jake Peavy (SF)

Once upon a time -- Jake Peavy was one of the best pitchers in the game, but over time -- he got old, loss some velocity and command of his pitches and was just never the same Peavy we once knew. And now in 2016, he is giving up a ton of hits, runs and long balls, which is why I will be stacking the Arizona Diamondbacks tonight.

I know this isn't Coors Field, but this is an excellent pivot from it and this game will be taking place at Chase Field (a hitter's paradise). Peavy owns a 5.15 FIP (not a typo) and a 1.91 WHIP. He is getting destroyed out there, which puts the Dbacks and their funky uniforms in a great position.

The Diamondbacks have hit right-handed pitching exceptionally well this season. They own a .327 wOBA (9th in MLB) and 174 ISO (8th in MLB). Playing at hitter's paradise (Chase Field) will only help their numbers out, and I am expecting a couple of long balls from these guys as Jake Peavy owns a 1.85 HR/9. Everyone is in play for me in this lineup, but I narrowed it to four guys for you and they are: Paul Goldschmidt (.370 wOBA), Brandon Drury (.398 wOBA), Jake Lamb (.382 wOBA) and Jean Segura (.386 wOBA). (Those stats are their season stats vs. right-handed pitching)

Jake Peavy owns a .411 wOBA vs. right-handed hitters and a .500 wOBA against left-handed batters, so guys from both sides of the plate are in play.

P.S.: Sorry if you like the Diamondbacks uniforms, they just look like uniforms that a little league travel team would wear.

New York Mets vs Eddie Butler (COL)

You know I couldn't leave you guys hanging without a Coors stack, so I will be talking about the Mets (Don't mind stacking either team or both).

The Mets will be going up against right-handed pitcher Eddie Butler. He has been a solid pitcher this season, but has struggled at home in his short career. He owns a 6.65 ERA to go along with a 5.48 FIP. We all know what Coors can do to a lot of pitchers (even the great ones), so go ahead and stack those Mets.

The Mets own a .328 wOBA (8th in MLB) and .203 ISO (2nd in MLB) against right-handed pitching. They have been hitting for a lot of power in spacious City Field, so you can only imagine the type of numbers they can put up at Coors Field. Just like Chicago and Arizona, all of the Mets' hitters are in play for me, but I also narrowed it down to my top four guys in this contest and they are: Michael Conforto (.425 wOBA), Yoenis Cespedes (.378 wOBA), Lucas Duda (.363 ISO) and Curtis Granderson (.198 ISO). (Those stats are their season stats vs. right-handed pitching) All of the Mets' hitters hit right-handed pitching exceptionally well, so it was tough for me to pin-point four guys out for you, but I did! Everyone is honestly in play for top-to-bottom of the order.
