Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.

Stack Targets

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Hector Santiago (Angels)
Park - Miller Park

If you peak at the projection system/lineup tool for today you have probably noticed that there is a Brewer player at, or near, the top of all positions on a PTS/$ basis. They get a juicy matchup vs. Hector Santiago who has regressed in terms of HR/FB rate in each of the past three years(8%-2014, 10.2%-2015, 13.2%-2016). On the surface he is having a decent start with a 2-1 record and 3.34 ERA but  has given up five long balls and eventually that will come back to burn a pitcher. Enter the Milwaukee Brewers who sit just outside the Top 10 in runs scored(111) and have a lineup full of players who favor hitting against left handed pitching. For more on said Brewers mashers be sure to check out the article.

Colorado Rockies vs. Cesar Vargas (Padres)
Park - Petco Park

The Rockies, believe it or not, could be a low owned stacking option today. Their salaries tend to adjust slowly when they leave Coors Field to go out on the road which sends most people in another direction. Add to it that they are playing in Petco Park(one of the best pitchers parks in majors) and you have a near 100% fade for large GPP's. This is a perfect opportunity to jump on board in a decent matchup vs. Cesar Vargas who has gotten extremely lucky in his first two starts of the season. He has pitched 10.2 innings and only given up a solo HR while striking out nine and walking six batters. He has a terrific .87 ERA but his 4.25 xFIP suggests he maybe isn't pitching as good as the numbers indicate. He could struggle with the Rockies who rank 8th with a .338 wOBA vs. right handed pitching and strike out less than 19%.

New York Yankees vs. Tyler Wilson (Orioles)
Park - Oriole Park at Camden Yards

If you read the article you are probably sick of hearing about the Yankees. You can't ignore the value on Wednesday though, as they face a young Tyler Wilson who is making the transition from bullpen to starting rotation and has seen mixed results. He went five innings in his first start grabbing the win despite giving up three earned runs and only striking out two batters. He followed that up by only going 4.2 innings vs. the White Sox where he gave up two earned runs and striking out just three while walking one. He also gave a long ball in each of those starts. He struggles vs. left handed bats(.338 wOBA) and the Yankees could potentially throw about seven(Beltran,Gardner, Ellsbury, Teixera, Gregorious, Headley) at him on Wednesday afternoon.

  • It sure was a Dark Night for Harvey, couldn't handle the mighty Braves. Glad I went with Shark.

  • @Wayne Montgomery - Other than the Yankees I will be stacking the Orioles on other side of that game as well as the Blue Jays in GPP and some Cardinals(Piscotty, Holliday, Grichuk, Molina) vs. Morgan.
