Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.
Detroit Tigers vs. Ricky Nolasco (Minnesota Twins)
Park -Target Field
While I think the Detroit Tigers going up against Ricky Nolasco today may be a more commonly seen stack, I believe it's without a doubt one of the best to play. Nolasco has struggled dramatically against left handers this season in general, and the recent lineup switches moving guys like J.D Martinez up in the order, and Justin Upton down has really opened up some doors for some other Tigers bats to produce a bunch of runs. In particular, I don't think you can go wrong with Miguel Cabrera. Lately the guy has been tearing the cover off of the ball, and I think he's seeing the ball much better over the last few weeks. He owns some pretty nasty numbers inside Target Field and I expect him to continue that trend today.
Some other guys to consider: Ian Kinsler and Justin Upton
Miami Marlins vs. Willy Peralta (Milwaukee Brewers)
Park - Miller Park
Willy Peralta is awful. I'm just going to come out and say it. For a guy that started opening day for the Brew Crew, I almost feel this teams' pitching staff as a whole gets worse as the days go by. To add to that, Peralta hosts an astounding 7.40 ERA and only 18 strikeouts in 4 starts this season. The Marlins have completely obliterated the Brewers this series and I expect that to continue today. Miami gets on base a ton and they rarely strike out. Going up against a guy like Peralta today I can't see them having much difficulty scoring runs, and could see this one getting ugly quickly. Christian Yelich if in the lineup is a guy I can see doing serious damage today. Any time you bat with Giancarlo Stanton behind you is a great thing, but this kid is just getting going. He's the most underrated bat on the entire roster in my opinion.
Other bats to target today: Consider J.T Realmuto as a cheap catcher to save you some money in other position. Justin Bour also hosts a .433 SLG when in the 5 whole this season. If you want to avoid spending big on guys who can produce just as well, these are some solid cheap alternatives.
Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Chad Bettis (Colorado Rockies)
Park - Chase Field
My favorite matchup on the board today to stack. I think you can see a lot of teams carrying 2 or more of these players as I project it to be one of the blowout games of the day. Chad Bettis, who you can argue is one of the best pitchers in the Rockies' staff (it's actually really sad) has always been the same guy. He has these occasional flashes of being a half decent pitcher in the major leagues, and than the start gives up 11 earned in the first three innings. I see today being a replication of that exact type of performance. I think he's going to run into a lot of trouble today against the powerhouse lineup in the Arizona Diamondbacks who look to rebound from a poor offensive performance Saturday Night. I have a weird feeling the Shelby Miller is going to have a much better outing today, as his stuff has started to look better start after start.
Todays targets include: David Peralta, Jean Segura, Paul Goldschmidt.
Personally: I would play all three of these guys today. Segura at the top of the order who is getting on base way to easily as of late, followed by Peralta and Goldschmidt is real easy way to gain points in abundance every time the top of this order gets up to bat.
