The second legs of the Champions League Quarter Finals get underway on Tuesday and all four ties are nicely poised. On Tuesday, Manchester City host PSG after an enthralling 2-2 draw in the first leg and Real Madrid must overcome a 2-0 deficit against Wolfsburg if they’re to make the semi-finals. The following evening, the Champions League favourites, Barcelona will look to secure their place in the semi-finals after beating Atletico Madrid 2-1 at the Nou Camp last week and Benfica will attempt to do the unthinkable and overturn a 1-0 deficit against Bayern Munich.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen – DK $4,000
Opponent – Atletico Madrid
It is crucial to have a good goalkeeper for a number of reasons and Marc-Andre ter Stegen ticks all of the boxes. First of all, he features in a match which he is likely to win and this is important because goalkeepers receive five points for a victory. Goalkeepers also receive five points for keeping a clean sheet, and for a side competing in the Champions League, Atletico Madrid are far from prolific goal-scorers. Furthermore, goalkeeper loses two points each time they conceded a goal, therefore it is crucial to select a keeper who is unlikely to concede.
Manuel Neuer – DK $4,500
Opponent – Benfica
Manuel Neuer is one of the more pricey goalkeepers available in this slate and rightly so. Bayern Munich face the weakest team remaining in the competition and there’s a very good chance that they win this match. Moreover, there’s also a very good chance that they keep a clean sheet, which would earn Manuel Neuer an extra five points. Bayern Munich won the opening leg of this tie 1-0 and similar scoreline would be far from surprising as Benfica are far from prolific in front of goal.
Maxwell – DK 3,500
Opponent – Manchester City
At just $3,500, Maxwell is the best value defender available in this slate in my opinion. The PSG left back has averaged 7.7 points per game in this campaign and scored 8 versus Manchester City last week. PSG are still in the tie, however they need goals if they’re to qualify, therefore we can expect Maxwell to play a slightly more attacking role. This is significant because players are awarded 1 point each time they cross the ball, and as a result, there’s a good chance that Maxwell will outscore his average.
Danilo – DK 4,000
Opponent – Wolfsburg
Danilo has been Real Madrid’s first choice right back in the Champions League and subsequently, I suspect he’ll start against Wolfsburg on Tuesday. Wolfsburg come into this fixture with a 2-0 lead, therefore they’ll set up to be tough to beat and this should result in Real Madrid’s full backs playing a big part going forward. Danilo has averaged 8 points per game this season and because he likes to get forward, he’s capable of scoring big. The Brazilian has actually scored two goals this season and recorded three assists, hopefully he can add another for us on Tuesday.
Toni Kroos – DK 4,700
Opponent – Wolfsburg
I selected Toni Kroos in last week’s slate and he delivered by scoring 13 points, which is excellent for a player who was valued at $4,300. This week he’s valued at $4,700, but he’s still a great addition given he scores points on a consistent basis. Kroos has averaged 8.9 points per game which is excellent given he’s valued at just $4,700. His consistently high scoring is because he takes corners for Real Madrid and cross are worth 1 point each. Furthermore, Kroos is great at assisting goals, he’s created 8 goals in 27 La Liga appearances this season and assists are very valuable at 6 points each.
Saul Niguez – DK 4,000
Opponent – Barcelona
Saul Niguez broke through into Atletico Madrid’s first team earlier this season and he’s excelled ever since. The 21 year old has averaged an impressive 8.2 points per game this campaign and proved he’s more than capable of scoring goals which leads to big points. Niguez has averaged 1.7 shots per game in the Champions League this season and this is significant because shots are worth points and they’re also a product of goals. This season, the Spaniard has scored eight goals, therefore he scores every now and then and is a good value addition to your team at $4,000.
Ronaldo – DK 10,200
Opponent – Wolfsburg
As I’ve alluded to above, Real Madrid face a two goal deficit heading into this leg and they need goals. When Madrid need goals, Ronaldo is usually their man, he’s scored 43 goals in 41 appearances this seasons and he’s also created 15, therefore he’s clearly a top point-scorer. You won’t be surprised to hear that Ronaldo has averaged 25.9 DraftKing points per game, that’s considerably more than any other player available in this slate. Admittedly, Ronaldo is expensive, but he’s worth the price given the match conditions and the opposition.
Edinson Cavani – DK 6,100
Opponent – Manchester City
Like Real Madrid, PSG also need a goal, therefore I suspect Edison Cavani will start up front alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic on Tuesday. Should Cavani start up front, he’s incredibly cheap at $6,100 in my opinion and is a must have. He’s scored 14 goals in 21 starts in Ligue 1 this season and there’s every chance he’ll get a goal against Manchester City on Tuesday. Manuel Pellegrini’s side are far from solid defensively as they proved in the opening leg and as a result, Cavani should have a few opportunities to score.
Gael Clichy – DK 3,400
Opponent – PSG
After splashing the cash on the likes of Ronaldo and Cavani, I’ve got to select a couple of budget options to balance the books. The first of those is Manchester City defender, Gael Clichy who is a touch of value at $3,400. Clichy appears to have made the left back spot his own and will almost certainly start against PSG as Manchester City look to defend their advantage. The Frenchman has averaged a very respectable 6.7 points per game this season, although when starting the match this average is even higher.
Thiago Silva – DK 3,000
Opponent – Manchester City
Finally, we have Thiago Silva who has averaged 6.2 points per game which is quite impressive for a centre back priced at $3,000. Defenders receive three points if their side keeps a clean sheet and a clean sheet, certainly isn’t off the cards. PSG are the favourites to win this match according to the bookmakers and Manuel Pellegrini’s side will inevitably sit back whilst they have the lead in the tie.

Any picks at $3500 or less that you could see performing well?
Sorry for the late response, Jeff. I hope you found someone. On another note, Ronaldo has scored a hat-rick, that'll help!
Thanks. My league didn't fill up, so it didn't matter
