What We Know
Tonight's Slate Starts at 8PM
I don't know about you but my internal clock is basically set for 7PM being the time that everything in the world happens. It throws me way off when we have things pushed back an hour. And if you are like me, it's a mess for you as well. Anyway, just wanted to remind everyone.
The Warriors are going for it
They are at 69 wins with four left to play, two against Memphis and two against San Antonio. The loss the Minny on Tuesday at home really hurt their chances as now they'll need to sweep the last four to set the record for most wins. I think what that means is you see them play everyone tonight as much as needed. It's clear the want the record and I don't begrudge them. Even with the tough matchup I think they do at least represent some minutes safety.
What We're Waiting to Know
Eesh, the Bulls.
They still have a statistical chance to make the playoffs though did themselves no favors by losing to Memphis the other night. Butler looked bad even though he got the minutes and put up one of his worst performances of his season (career). He is almost definitely playing through an injury right now and it brings his projections somewhat into question. Rose took a ton of shots after returning from injury though he was his typical inefficient self. This is a mess all around and I didn't even mention Taj Gibson who's unlikely to play.
Will Jon Leuer play?
He's sat out the last three and is a GTD for tonight. This piece of news is less about Leuer and more about Len and Teletovic (and I suppose Chandler) who see their minutes increase a bunch when Leuer isn't around to come off he bench as another big. I suspect the big man sits again putting those three firmly in play again.
How committed to tanking are the Kings?
So far they seem extremely committed. They've been making it a point to never throw out a full roster of starters and I don't see any reason for that to change tonight. Gay, Collison and Casspi sat out last game. And it's been announced already that Boogie won't play road games (tonight's at home). I could see Rondo sitting again, but who knows. It stinks that this is a late game and I doubt we will know. I suppose there's some chance they go full strength, but nothing in their recent history suggests this will be the case. Update: Cousins and Rondo are out. Bumps for Collison and Gay. WCS too.
Will Hassan Whiteside play?
This would open up some more big man minutes for Deng, Amar'e and maybe McBob. But I think Hassan pushed to play because this is an important game for the Heat.

This late in the season we are simply looking for safety in minutes. With so many teams headed in so many different directions we can only make our best assumptions based on team narratives. The Rockets are trying desperately to make the playoffs and should play these two a boatload of minutes. I think they represent two of the safest bets on the slate against a weak Phoenix squad.

Technically as of right now he's not in every lineup (he first appears in the second overall for both sites. But I think when it is all said and done he's about as safe as it comes on this slate because I think he sees a ton of minutes at home.

Unless I’m missing something Sims isn’t even listed in the optimizer not the standard tool, let alone in the “every lineup” category.

New to the system and Im using pro. Doug whats your opinion for tonight? I can only do 3lineups in the 100k, Should I stack? Just follow the optimizer? Ive lost for the last 3 days with late changes in nba, and late slate optimizer for mlb went very poorly.

Man I was looking at the late slate last night for MLB and let me just tell you straight up that it looks terrible. I’m taking the same route that you are and putting more money into NBA tonight and just shelling out a few bucks for the MLB early slate.

…it has a S. Curry just not the one I expected. It seems to favor Green and Harden over Curry as far as players to spend up on. Makes sense on Aces since there is no multiplier for 3’s.

Rubio is always good for GPPs. Can score 15 or 48. Great match up tonight so if you are doing multiple lineups I’d definitely have some exposure.

After the past few nights of beatings I was thinking of taking a few days off, but then I realized it was a 5 game slate. Maybe im wrong, but I feel the optimizer has been most on point on 5-7 game slates. too many or too few games and theres a variable factor that cant be overcome. Add in the fact that the only uncertainty tonight would be injuries, less worry about resting players when everyone has something to fight for, I may have to drop a few bucks into the slate.
We do believe there’s a significant edge on small slates simply because mistakes others make tend to cascade because there are less punt/cheap plays to luck box in to. I feel pretty confident (right now) with the narratives on the minutes in the games we have projected.
These guys try and answer questions. Some questions on here are pretty self-explanatory so they let other members answer. I love this message board. So much advise and laughs. Chill. They will or someone else will answer ????. Keep up the great work DSFR team!! With that said, let’s make some $$$$$$$$ tonight MLB/NBA

My two cents, for those worried about the Spurs….
I don’t think we get Pop’d tonight. The Spurs can actually still steal the #1 seed from the Warriors, despite the Dubs chasing the best record of all time. I mean, how insane is that? But for our purposes, I do believe the Spurs are going to play this one to win it (not that he’s the one making decisions in San Antonio, but here’s Tony Parker’s opinion on the matter: http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/15144245/tony-parker-san-antonio-spurs-no-longer-thinks-coach-gregg-popovich-rest-team-stretch).
For those on FD or other sites that don’t allow late switches, i wouldn’t blame you for avoiding this one entirely just in case something crazy happens.
But i see a solid game coming from Kawhi as the Spurs chase home court advantage. David West and Aldridge are also on my mind for PF plays on DK (mostly because the position just sucks over there). This one is just a gut feeling thing, but I think the Warriors small ball lineups may force the Spurs to go away from Duncan for stretches in this one, giving West and Aldridge opportunity for more run (they are just a little younger and more spry than old TD).
And i’m going to fade Curry tonight. Wouldn’t blame anyone for wanting to go there. The minutes will be secure and he just needs a couple hot stretches to drop like 9 threes and hit value. But this dude nicknamed The Claw is going to be in his jersey all night, and i want none of that.
Anyway, just my thoughts on the GSW / Spurs game. I could be way wrong, who knows. Take it or leave it.

And just a note to the DFSR crew, Tyler Johnson has 28 minutes again in the optimizer. Seems to be a regular occurrence. Unless i’m missing something, the latest news on him is that he gave himself a “70% chance to play before the end of the season”, which i don’t think qualifies as 28 minutes tonight.

Yeah i just circled back to him. He may be the right call. Bad 3 game series vs ATL for him this year (too small of a sample, i know…) had me off him to start. But i may have to now.

Millsap always struck me as more of a GPP guy than cash because of some volatility in his output. (peaks of 55 fpts, valleys of 30, etc.). Aldridge seems like the more consistent guy in my biased world view. Any take on that opinon? Aldridge or Millsap for cash purposes? Optimizer likes Millsap oviously.

It’s less about them and more about the other guys in other games getting big bumps. Collison, Curry, Gay along with Horford and Millsap projected to play big minutes. Curry still a good play, there are just other PG values.

It’s because he’s so so cheap on DK. If you think he plays 35 then the floor is very high at $4900. I get the concern, but remember it’s mostly a price thing.
Real flyer here, but for what it’s worth i’m going to throw either Quincy Acy or Ben McLemore into one of my GPP lineups. UTIL slot on DK. Both at minimum price. Still debating which one i’m going to do…. I think McLemore is likely to get more minutes, but i can see 20-25 minutes out of Acy with no Boogie around.
Latest FantasyAces lineup…seems like WCS has been upgraded over Koufus and now Tucker is showing up EVERYWHERE (price vs minutes…makes sense…he’s 200 less than Tele on FA!!!)

Question about Milsap, what’s holding him in optimizer? Subpar performance vs Tor from what I see (not just this year but the last few). Is it lack of other high dollar options? Worries about LA? Recent performance? I know this question was already kind of addressed but really need a win and I’m stuck on PF tonight, please help!
I’m not the DFSR crew and can’t speak for them or the optimizer, but just because i went on and on about it earlier, i might as well clarify my position. I’m going with Aldridge tonight over Millsap in DK cash games. I just think he’s safer, though Millsap probably has a higher ceiling.

It’s directly tied to a minutes’ projection at 36. They’ve been running him more in reg over the last two games, presumably to lock the higher playoff seed over the Celts. Past performance against Toronto is immaterial in our system. It’s a minutes thing combined with lack of many options at PF

Devin Booker and Millsap bumps?
Devin Booker doesn’t play for Atlanta… But bumps to schroeder, teague, and millsap. Just looked it up on nbawowy. They all get a 3-4% usage increase and a .1-.3 fppm bump

Bazemore is out.. which isn’t that significant… But the usage and productivity bumps to schroeder, millsap, teaugue are something to look at! Schroeder gets a significant usage bump and could be a sneaky play

I looked at Ariza last night and just looked at his B2B games, doesn’t appear to do that well on the 2nd night.
Doesn’t effect Millsap’s usage really at all. Teague interesting though tough to play him over say Collison. And Schroder didn’t see really any more minutes last time Baze sat.

Yeah I ended up playing a few entries with same line up and swapped out mirotic for Ariza to hedge my bets a little. He just makes me squeamish

Though the results aren’t great, playing Mirotic tonight made a ton of sense. Getting the start and theoretically looking at mid 30’s in minutes. I played him on both sites and would do it again. Ariza still in the DK optimal. But yeah Mirotic been a stain.
Didn’t play him in my own lineup. Just feels like you can’t trust the minutes. I’d rather have 20s with the second unit then 30s running with the first unit and being like the 4th option to score. He feasts on second units as the number one scorer.
I agree on this. I actually increased his minutes and dumped his usage based on that very thing. Still showed up with those constraints.
How come in your injury write up it says that Ariza and Harden should be in every lineup yet that bum Mirotic shows up in the optimal lineup. He’s going to cost a lot of people money. Never playing that dude ever again.

Sure. I mean he didn’t start and for some reason played all of the minutes over Koufos who did start. More of a George Karl issue than a prognostication piece. No reason to expect he’d see increased minutes coming off bench.

This is such a crazy time of year. It’s a good time to remind everyone that diversifying buy ins between sites is also a good natural hedge. FD lineup looking bad with Curry getting axed, DraftKings sitting at top of 50/50s and cashing in GPPs. No difference in the projections from site-to-site except that price points and lineup variations make a difference
Not gonna lie… 20$ bankroll and followed top 3 optimizer lineups, NBA and MLB for 5 days… Unless Seth curry drops 30 in the 4th, I’ll have 60 cents left. Think I may be done.

I tell you one of the odd things about any optimizer. Just came in here to say looks like NBA is cashing in gpp even with Mirotic laying an egg but looks like some others don’t have the same line as me. Crazy how it can shift even a little that last 10 minutes so it’s sort of luck of the refresh. I ran straight optimizer and I’m at 277 with Curry in the 4th. Could be all backups from here on out so cash line shouldn’t move.
The optimal lineup tonight was a total shit show. This has been an extremely rough week. Might take a few days off sadly. This past weekend was so good and now all of this mess. I guess that’s what happens.

For everyone having a rough week….myself included…..if you are fed up…just wait until the playoffs when you know what you’re getting from each team and the optimizer will be back to doing what it has been the last couple weeks. As for baseball if you’re not cashing with the optimizer…just wait a week or two. It’s hard to predict what players are going to do at the start of the year. Need some weeks of data first to get more reliable results. If you don’t trust the system. Use it as a starting point and then add your own spin. That’s what I did in DC based on what they said about curry and harden and tucker in the write up….then added as I saw fit. Won over 200 tonight

What a weird night. With about 10 minutes left, I decided to fade Harden in cash, and went with Whiteside. Why…. no idea LOL, Whiteside is a classic GPP only. but I just felt everyone was going to be doing the same thing, and I wanted to differentiate a little. Then with about 8 minutes left in the Mia/Chi game Mirotic and Whiteside gave a me a total of about 12 pts. Then Whiteside just goes bananas the last 6 minutes, and almost hit value. Still thought I was done, only to wake up to cashing in all by double ups! I guess Steph Curry, Gay and Towns all saved me late! First night though I did not cash in baseball
Tucker didn’t hurt either. Love that guy in cash against sloppy team. Seems like all he does is plays 40 minutes and routinely throws up 35 to 40 pts at $4700
If it were easy we would not have a 9-5. I literally threw my money away for months guessing and researching. I only GPP, making top 20% for pay is hard. These guys have turned my 40$ into 2500$ in the last two months. Sure I lose, but I learn, and apply that knowledge, the optimizer is scary on some nights. Thanks DFS family for the hard work!
