Daily Fantasy Basketball Injury News and Updates for FanDuel and DraftKings - 3/22/16

Welcome to the daily updates and injury news article. We'll try and update it right up to line-up locks with as much information as comes across our desks. Let's get to it!

Last night's picks can be found here, so you can wrap your mind around what you need to be looking at before lineups lock tonight.

By the way - we keep our projection system updated with all of the changes as they occur throughout the day right up until lineup lock. Every day. If you want access to that system so you can cut out a lot of the research element, click the button below!

What We Know

Brook Lopez is back
Just a one game absence, and this kills Willie Reed and Thomas Robinson's value. I do like him quite a bit against the Hornets tonight, but am not sure that price point will fit into optimal lineups given the limited options of a short slate.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson returns from injury!!
Right, it's a short slate. But really! This is news! Hollis-Jefferson will cut directly into Wayne Ellington's minutes, and could take some minutes from Bojan Bogdanovic as well. I don't expect him to play huge minutes tonight fresh off of returning from a fractured foot, but I'll be watching his minutes closely to see how it knocks other dominoes in the Nets' rotation. I still like Bojan today, but am cautious on other Nets.

Larry Nance Jr. is out
The last time he sat, Julius Randle played 31 minutes. He could play more than that tonight, and it's a reasonable match-up with Memphis' now not too tough front court. We've adjusted the projections up accordingly.

UPDATE: With Marvin Williams out I think Frank Kaminsky is a near must start running with the Varsity.

What We're Waiting to Know

James Harden is listed as a game time decision
And if he misses this one, that obviously topples some huge dominoes in the Houston/OKC game. It introduces blowout risk into the game, and it also opens up a TON of shots for everyone else. It would mean a lot for Patrick Beverley and Jason Terry in particular, who would have the ball in there hands a lot more. Watch this one closely.

Marvin Williams's status
Marvin Williams limped off the court in last night's game with the Spurs, and is listed as questionable for tonight's tilt with the Nets. He said that he "should be able to play" last night, but in a game that the Hornets should be able to win without him, I'll be watching this one closely. Why? Well, Cody Zeller was already a great play according to our lineup optimizer, and the potential of Williams even being limited makes him close to a must for me. Williams' absence would also open up some potential value for Frank Kaminsky and Al Jefferson, and I'd be interested in whoever got the starting nod in his place.

Kobe Bryant is "50/50" to play for the 50th time
What a nightmare projecting Kobe has been. He's 50/50 every night, and the Lakers play late. The biggest guy I'd feel concerned about if Kobe were to return is Lou Williams, who's been a very solid play in the last three games. The rest of the Lakers have been a quagmire of guys who play 20-25 minutes a game, and that's WITH Kobe on the bench. His return can't be good for them, of course. The Lakers are mostly a stay-away for me tonight.

The "Every Lineup" Guys

These are players that show up in each of the top 10 lineups as produced by our lineup optimizer. This doesn't necessarily mean that they're "safe," it just means that their projected weighted-mean point total is a solid building block for a great lineup foundation today.

Russell Westbrook - FD 10600 DK 10600
Opponent - HOU
FD Proj. Pts - 54.44 DK Proj. Pts - 56.26
You've got to spend up somewhere, and the writing is on the wall as far as our projection system goes. Russ all the way in an up and down match-up with the Rockets.

Jrue Holiday - FD 7700 DK 8200
Opponent - MIA
FD Proj. Pts - 48.14 DK Proj. Pts - 49.74
No Davis, no Ryan Anderson - that leaves Jrue as basically the only show in town. He's still too cheap for the load he'll have to carry in New Orleans, and we're all over it even in a tough match-up.

Zach Randolph - FD 6900 DK 6800
Opponent - LAL
FD Proj. Pts - 36.05 DK Proj. Pts - 36.64
He's paid his price handily in his first two games back from injury, and he's got the softest match-up possible here. Impossible for me to imagine fading him in 50/50s in particular.

Good luck out there today! If you want access to all of our numbers, get started with a free trial below of our lineup optimizer, on us!

  • Is it wrong to want to fade Holiday based on his almost 4.9x performance against the clippers the other night and worse Dvp tonight?

    • I was thinking the same thing. But what Ive noticed about Holiday is he "likes" tough match ups. And being one of the only guys less that can create his own shot... They will have to run a lot of the offense through him. IMO

  • Ray McCallum only got 25 minutes last night with the newly aquired Farmar... any concern with his minutes going forward?

    • i'm concerned about that too. If farmar played well enough to get the start.

    • He was in foul trouble too. Tough to call here. Grizz are such a crazy team right now.

  • That's true, and I cant argue with his minutes. I'll have to be a little uncomfortable with that $8200

    • download an IP address blocker, just do some googling there are good ones out there. I have friends in LV that use this with success. All it does is changes your Static ip address that FD or DK uses to see where you live....you can manually put in where you want it to say you are so you can be in LV and say youre in FL for instance. Only works on a computer! You cant use one on your phone so you cant change your lineups unless youre on a computer that has that program installed. Youre welcome LV and NY residents for the tip ;)

  • I am currently in Philly and they are still giving me problems trying to get line ups in. Possibly because my NY address. They allowed me to get some line ups in then I got an out of bounds message. This is crazy I can bet at casinos, racinos, on horses, lotto but not fantasy sports.

  • Is anyone else having a problem on Fanduel getting your lineup to 0 out for the main slate today? I keep getting 100 left and only have 1 lineup that's a zero not really liking that one either lol...

    • Ive won many times with tons of money left. If you have the best choices... roll with it. doesn't always have to 0 out to win.

    • Jesse,

DO NOT try to get your lineup to 0. I've done some research and many of the top 10 lineups in tourneys have won with at least 500 dollars left on the table. Been a code I've been sticking by ever since. Go with your guy on who you think will do good and don't worry about the dollars. I have one lineup tonight with 700 dollars left and I have both Wedtbrook and Durant in.

  • Kemba Walker or Holiday on DK? Price doesn't matter. What are your thoughts??

  • Harden or KD...the struggle is real here! One is sure to go off tonight I'm thinking.

    • lol i have the same struggle... but if you look at Hardens history vs OKC... (his old team) he averages over value.

  • True...but I'm more scared who's gonna step out early.
Heck if Davis had the same injuries we might not see him
    till 2018.

  • How about:
    mccallum
    westbrook
    harden
    holiday
    durant
    beasley
    zeller
    cunningham
    asik
    Lots of punts to hit...
