Welcome back to another night of daily fantasy hockey with DFSR. There are eight games on the NHL schedule tonight with some terrific matchups for fantasy points. Some of the top offensive teams (SJ-3rd, FLA-11th, PIT-9th, TB-15th) go up against some of the weaker defenses(ARI-28th, TOR-22nd, CAR-18th, DAL-24th) tonight.
Only the New York Rangers are playing on back to back nights but three teams (FLA, LA, NYI) are playing their third games in four nights. At this time only three goalies(Lundqvist-NYR, Smith-ARI, Luongo-FLA) are confirmed starting.
If you have any questions throughout the day be sure to join the conversation in the comments section below. Also, be sure to check LeftWingLock to get confirmation on all of the starting goalies for Thursday. Now onto the picks.
Goaltenders
Roberto Luongo
Opponent - TOR
FD - 8400 DK - 8200
Terrific matchup for the Atlantic Division leading Panthers tonight as they face the last place Leafs. Luongo has struggle a bit lately going 5-3-1 over his last nine starts with a poor .903 save percentage but has been having another terrific season overall. He faced Toronto earlier this season and beat them, stopping 22 of 23 shots pushing his career record to 19-7 vs. the Leafs. While he lacks GPP upside with the Panthers allowing under 30 shots per game, he does make an excellent cash game goalie with one of the best chances for a win tonight.
Devan Dubnyk
Opponent - NJ
FD - 7800 DK - 7600
The Wild and Dubnyk got robbed of a much needed win last game vs. the Senators. With only seconds remaining the Sens tied the game, forcing overtime where they won it with less than a minute to go. The Wild trail the Predators for the final wild card spot in the Western Conference and with 12 games remaining need every point they can get. Dubnyk has been excellent lately going 6-3-1 over his last 10 games with a .921 save percentage. He gets a favorable matchup vs. the fading Devils who rank dead last ion offense. This should be a low scoring game that Wild should be able to sneak out on the road.
Also Consider - Martin Jones - San Jose Sharks @ ARI
CENTER
Sidney Crosby
Opponent - CAR
FD - 9800 DK - 7900
He comes into this game red hot as he has put the Pens on his back as they push for the playoffs. Sid is currently on a nine game point streak in which he has tallied 14 points and added 24 shots on goal and a +9 rating. The Pens currently hold down the top wild card position in the Eastern Conference but have Philadelphia and Detroit breathing down their necks. With Malkin out for the rest of the regular season, Crosby will get some extra ice time and added opportunities and if the PP can heat up the sky is the limit.
Stack with - Patric Hornqvist, Chris Kunitz
Aleksander Barkov
Opponent - TOR
FD - 6700 DK - 6400
This game is a matchup of the top (FLA) and the bottom (TOR) of the Atlantic Division. Although the Leafs are playing well lately winning three of four I am not buying into it. They still rank 22nd in goals allowed per game and are one of the best teams to target when stacking in daily fantasy. The Panthers top line should be able to take advantage of this matchup an Barkov himself has been rolling lately. He has tallied goals in three straight games while recording 12 shots on goal.
Stack with - Jaromir Jagr, Jonathan Huberdeau
Also Consider - Charlie Coyle - Minnesota Wild @ NJ
WINGERS
Filip Forsberg
Opponent - NYI
FD - 8400 DK - 6600
He is currently on pace to match his season totals from last season(63 points) and has been playing really sicne the All Star break. He has tallied 22 points in 20 games since and firing at an incredible shooting percentage with two hat tricks. While his scoring pace won't hold up he is still providing fantasy value in other ways. He provides a high floor with shot volume(averaging over 3.5 shots on goal per game over his last 10) and also skates on the top PP unit for the Preds.
Stack with - Craig Smith, Mike Ribeiro
Reilly Smith
Opponent - TOR
FD - 5600 DK - 4900
Getting exposure to more than one Panther line tonight might be wise. The 2nd line has been arguably as hot as the top line and Smith has tallied points in four of his last five games and linemate Vincent Trocheck has been even hotter with 11 points in his last 10 games with a +6 rating. If you like lower ownership on a night when most people will be targeting the top line make the pivot to the second line in a great matchup.
Stack with - Vincent Trocheck, Teddy Purcell
Also Consider - Ondrej Palat - Tampa Bay Lightning @ DAL
DEFENSE
Brent Burns
Opponent - ARI
FD - 8200 DK - 8400
If you are one of those players that loves paying up for D men this is a prime spot tonight. The Sharks have been much better on the road this season and travel to Arizona tonight to face the Coyotes who rank 28th in goals allowed per game. Burns has been red hot lately as well with 13 points in his last 10 games including five multi point games. The Sharks are trying to keep pace in the ultra competitive Pacific Division and need every point they can get as they have gained almost no ground in winning seven of their last 10 games. Look for a monster performance tonight.
Alex Goligoski
Opponent - TB
FD - 4400 DK - 4800
He has lead the defense in points since the loss of Klingberg two weeks ago. Goligoski has recorded a point in five of the Stars six games since the injury and has seen his ice time climb to the high 20's recently. Dallas has struggled lately giving up 16 goals in their four games and only winning four of their last 10 games but somehow still sit tied for the Central Division lead with the Blues. Look for them to get back in the Win column tonight at home vs. the Lightning.
Also Consider - Alec Matrinez - Los Angeles Kings vs. NYR

I am going to start posting my 50/50 from the previous day, win or lose, to look at successes and areas to improve. I am starting with a loss from last night and man, did I love this lineup:
E. Kane, Panarin, Iginla, P. Kane, Eichel, Duchene, Barberio, Beauchemin and Darling. This lineup only racked up 20.7 points.
I had swapped O’Reilly for Eichel and Vasalov for Darling but ended up switching back which likely cost me in the end. The Hawks switched up their lines last night. Kane was skating with Toews and Panarin was with Hossa. Something we will need to monitor moving forward.
Some great matchups tonight as Chris mentioned above. Time to get back on the horse tonight and win some money – been a rough week so far. I will post some lineups a bit later today. Let’s get the conversation going – who do you like tonight?
Forgot to ask – how did everyone else do last night with either 50/50 or GPP?
I had 2 LU’s on DK and they went like this:
Duchene, Monahan, Gaudreau, Iginla, Stafford, Barbeiro, Giordano, Grigorenko, Gibson
scored 29 points and cashed all 50/50 and moved on in two Step 1’s, one Step 2 and made it to Step 4 in one which is now an $88 6 man tourny.
LU #2 was:
Giroux, Schenn, Andrighetto, Boedker, Simmonds, Barberio, Ghost, Galchenyuk, Gibson. – 27.9 points
cashed in triple ups. Crappy deflection goal for Rangers cost me a lot more $$.
Oh well on to today.
Today my favorite stacks are:
CAR2, FLA 1 & 2, SJ1
I will also try and fir some DAL1 in my lineups for GPP’s
I broke even with only one LU winning and I can’t remember which one.
Looking to get back on the horse tonight. I’m still having a very lovely week.
I’m feeling froggy about Predators L2. Should I leap?
The Predators should be low owned as it is a tough matchup vs. NYI ranked 6th in defense. I like them tonight as they have been playing great. Assuming you mean Johansen/Neal?
I went with STL1,WPG1,Gustaffson(who scored 0)Parayko,Varlamov and netted 34.10 on DK Love the advice guys will put in my input when helpful!
Today I’m going with FLA1,DET1,Goligoski,Hamonic,Howard anybody have any thoughts?
Jeremie – I like that stack but the Det game scares me. The were man handled by the Jackets a week ago and while Big Bob is in goal tonight vs. Korp last time, Detroit has not impressed me of late……but that’s just me.
Here is my 50/50 for tonight — things have been crazy of late but I am staying the course. Toronto is due to implode and give up 5-6 goals tonight.
Huberdeau, Kunitz, Hornquist, Coyle, Barkov, Koivu, Campbell, Yandle and Jones – we with the 3 team stack for some better balance hopefully. Basically getting a mixture of PIT1, FL1 and MIN1 with a solid goalie as well. Thoughts?
Yes I am just a huge Wings fan myself and I feel they need this win so I’m hoping they play like it and put up some points especially their first line. Like the idea of going wide and getting a mix of those lines might also try something similar.
Hey guys – been following for a while and am loving the everyday updates. Have had mixed results lately with cash and GPP, but the stacks you have shared in the past couple of weeks have been a huge help in building some bankroll. Thoughts on including my GPP tonite:
SJ1/Crosby/Kunitz/Shoshinov/Golgoksi/Klein/Murray.
Not loving the Pit exposure, as I also have the PIT1 in cash, so any suggestions would be appreciated.
I switched Varly for Allen last night and it proved costly in the 50/50.
Tonight I don’t love this lineup so I’ll win ha.
Bonino, Thornton, Atkinson,Kucherov, Mantha,Burns, Letang,Murray in net and Killorn
So in all leagues Murray is owned in 70-80% lol and the other 10-20 have dubnek so least I’m not losing ground here ha
