Welcome back to another night of daily fantasy hockey with DFSR. There are seven games on the NHL schedule on Monday with some intriguing matchups. Can the Capitals keep rolling after reaching 100 points on the season? It will be tough tonight as they are playnig a third game in four nights and a 5th game in seven nights. Another team to watch out for as we inch closer to the playoffs is the Anaheim Ducks. They have now won 11 straight games and have jumped over the kings to lead the Pacific Division standings. There are great options at goalie tonight whether you want to pay up or save some salary and roll with value.

If you have any questions throughout the day be sure to join the conversation in the comments section below. Also, be sure to check LeftWingLock to get confirmation on all of the starting goalies for Sunday. Now onto the picks.

Goaltenders

Jonathan Quick
Opponent - VAN
FD - 8400 DK - 8400

The Kings are at home on Monday night as huge favorites to the visiting Canucks. Quick has been a bit off lately allowing nine goals in his last three games. He is an elite goaltender so I don't expect it too last. He has been great vs. the Canucks in three meetings this year going 2-1 and allowing only three goals in total. look for Quick to get back on track tonight as the Kings attempt keep pace with the Ducks for the Pacific Division lead.

Chad Johnson
Opponent - TOR
FD - 8100 DK - 6900

The Sabres will turn to their backup on the road in Toronto tonight. He offers a bit of savings from the top guys and provides a solid floor as the Sabres are allowing over 30 shots per game lately and Johnson has recorded an a decent .917 save % on the season. Buffalo and Toronto have met earlier in the year in a game which saw the Sabres win 2-1 in a shootout. It was Johnson between the pipes for that game and he saved 23 of 24 shots en route to the win.

CENTER

Patrice Bergeron
Opponent - FLA
FD - 7800 DK - 7300

The Bruins go on the road tonight to face the Panthers who are currently struggling and have lost their lead in the Atlantic Division. Bergeron started to heat up again with goals in three straight games on 13 shots on net. The Bruins rank 3rd in the league in offense(3.0 goals per game) and carry a Top 10 PP into Florida tonight. The Bruins are also a stronger more powerful tam on the road this year as they have six more wins away from Boston. In a tough matchup, a Bruins stack might be a bit lower owned tonight.

Stack with - Brad Marchand, Lee Stempniak

Jeff Carter
Opponent - VAN
FD - 6300 DK - 5700

His production has fallen off a bit from what we are used to in years before but he still makes a great fantasy option in the right matchups. Tonight is one of those as the Kings are huge favorites to Canucks tonight. Carter offers a very safe floor with shot volume as he has averaged right around three shots on goal per game. He skated on a line with Kopitar last game and if he remains there the offense could really start clicking. Monitor the line combos throughout the day.

Stack with - Anze Kopitar, Milan Lucic

Also Consider - Joe Thornton - San Jose Sharks @ CGY

WINGERS

Corey Perry
Opponent - WAS
FD - 7700 DK - 6600

The Ducks are the hottest team in the league right now having own 11 straight games.Perry has played a huge role in the current run with 11 points(7 on the PP) in his last 10 games and added 28 shots on goal, 12 PIMs and a +4 rating. It isn't the most ideal matchup against the leagues top team but the Caps are playing their 5th game in seven nights and could have some tired legs in this game.

Stack with - Rickard Rakell, Jamie McGinn

Mikkel Boedker
Opponent - ARI
FD - 4500 DK - 4800

Since being traded to the Avs at the deadline, Boedker has tallied two points in his first three games. He has been having an average season up until now with 41 points on the year. He is skating on a line with Landeskog and MacKinnon which should only help his fantasy upside for the rest of the season. A little bit of narrative tonight as he will face his old team who drafted him in the first round back in 2008. Look for a strong game from Boedker and the Coyotes tonight.

Stack with - Nathan MacKinnon, Gabriel Landeskog

DEFENSE

Brent Burns
Opponent - CGY
FD - 7700 DK - 8300

A strategy that most go away from in daily fantasy hockey is paying up for a D man. Not only do you get similar scoring upside at a comparable price to the top forwards, you also get a player who is much less owned. Burns is an elite offensive D man who s rolling right now and should be used in almost all formats tonight. He has scored in three straight games and has multiple points in two of those with 18 shots on goal. He ranks 14th in the league with 57 points and only Erik Karlsson of the Sens has more points as a D man.
Michael Stone
Opponent - COL
FD - 3600 DK - 4800

He is near min price on FanDuel due to the vulnerable +/- and spotty offensive output. He makes a way better play on Draftkings as he gets points for blocked shots. It gives him a safe floor as he has averaged over 2.5 blocks per game over the last couple weeks. The offense isn't non existent by any means as he has tallied six points in his last 10 games and added 24 shots on goal.

Also Consider - Sami Vatanen - Anaheim Ducks vs. WSH

  • I hit the jackpot last night in hockey! It was the biggest night I've had. I'm looking to continue thanks to you guys.
Which stacks are we going with? I'm leaning heavy on both Bos lines and mixing in Tampa 2, Tampa 1 and Anaheim 1. I have mainly stacked SJ1 with Bos 2 with Sparks between the pipes and Burns and Ghost.

Would love the feedback. I hit first place in a CBB league on a pure gamble, but have been largely ineffective in NBA. Daily NHL so far has been paying the bills so to speak (not literally figuratively).
I'm in three different contests and would like to roll with three of the same lineup in each one.

  • That is awesome to hear Justin.

Tonight I love BOS1 with Marchand, Bergeron and Stempniak. SJ1 and BUF1

  • Ok Chris. I like this. I don't think Buffalos line will be widely owned. The question becomes which L2 do I stack with Bos1?

    Thank you

  • I stacked SJ1 with BOS1 and Chad Johnson tonight on FanDuel for some 100 man leagues

  • Marcel764 on FD here's my lineup
    Boedker
    O Palat
    R Smith (vs old team)
    C Perry
    L Couture
    A Kopitar
    B Burns
    J Muzzin
Sparks ( punt option, should get lots of blocked shots) can't go wrong with his FD price of $4500
    Thoughts????

  • I did the exact same thing! Would you roll with that with all three lineups?

    I also did Buffalo 1 with SJ1

  • I like using Sparks ya cause of shots and not playing an elite team by any means. Can really stack around him.

  • Genius pick on the Bostong game! (I knew they were good on the road, but didn't want to oppose luongo) If you can be honest with me...did the new projection tool help you with that pick? I'm just asking, because I have an excel algorithm that tracks individual players , and given the conditions, ( goalie, opposing line etc) it projects each player like a growing bubble just like stocks etc.

  • Also I was ranked by daily overlay as very high for football just so you know I know what I'm talking about... if your tool is as good as you proclaim I will tell everyone I freaking know about it....lol
