Welcome back to another night of daily fantasy hockey with DFSR. First of all I want to give a big shout out to my youngest daughter who turns 2 today. It is the support of family that keeps me driving forward. Ok enough about me let's get onto the picks.

There are 9 games in the NHL schedule tonight and the following teams are playing on back to back nights:

  • Calgary Flames (Road) *3rd Game in 4 Nights*
  • Pittsburgh Penguins (Road) *3rd Game in 4 Nights*
  • Dallas Stars (Road) *3rd Game in 4 Nights*

At this time there are no goalies confirmed for tonight so be sure to check back throughout the day to see an update in the comments sections. You can also visit the lineup tool/projection page to view the best value plays on the day.

Goaltenders

Tuukka Rask
Opponent - CGY
FD - 9100 DK - 8300

Rask has really started to turn his game around in the second half going 7-3-1 since the All Star break with a .920 save %. He will get a plus matchup tonight as the Flames come to town playing on back to back nights on the road. The Bruins are -225 favorites and get the Flames amidst a five game losing streak and not to mention the second worst road record in the NHL. Get as many Bruins as you can in your lineups tonight.

Jaroslav Halak
Opponent - VAN
FD - 8500 DK - 7700

Halak has bounced back after a poor stretch that seen him lose four of five starts. He has been excellent over the last two weeks winning three of four starts on the road, allowing only five goals in total. The Islanders are currently sitting in a playoff spot with little wiggle room so expect another strong outing as they visit the Canucks who have the second worst home record in the league and have lost six of their last 10 games. He is a safe play in any format tonight.

Also Consider -  Craig Anderson - Ottawa Senators vs. STL

CENTER

Evgeny Kuznetsov
Opponent - PIT
FD - 7200 DK - 6700

First line, second line, doesn't matter when it comes to his fantasy production. He continues to impress for the Caps with 65 points on the season and has now tallied 11 points in his last 10 games. He will get a favorable matchup tonight vs. the Pens who are playing on back to back nights and a third game in four nights on the road. Look for the Caps to take advantage of some tired legs and score some goals tonight.

Stack with - Andre Burakovsky, Justin Williams

Frans Nielsen
Opponent - VAN
FD - 6000 DK - 5800

A terrific mid range value play that can contribute in my areas. He is skating on the islanders second line with Okposo and Kulemin and is getting top minutes on the PP with Tavares. He has tallied three goals and four assists(3 PP points and a short handed goal) in his last 10 games and added a nice floor with 26 shots and 13 blocks. He is a great play in any format in a road matchup in Vancouver.

Stack with - John Taveres(PP), Anders Lee(PP), Kyle Okposo

Also Consider - David Backes - St. Louis Blues @ OTT

WINGERS

Alex Ovechkin
Opponent - PIT
FD - 11100 DK - 9100

His salary is getting a little steep on FanDuel costing you 21% of your salary cap but continues to be a great play on DraftKings where he will only cost you 18% of your salary. He is currently on a 10 game stretch where he is averaging 7.5 fantasy points per game with a ceiling of around 15 points. he has tallied 10 goals and four assists in this current stretch with an enormous amount of shots(67) giving him an extremely high floor even at a high price tag.

Stack with - Nicklas Backstrom, T.J. Oshie

Loui Eriksson
Opponent - CGY
FD - 4900 DK - 5400

He remains a Bruins after the All Star break and will help the Bruins push for the playoffs and possibly contend for another Stanley Cup. He has gone pointless in his last three games but still has recorded eight points in his last 10 games. He has a great opportunity to break out of the mini slump tonight at home vs. the Flames who rank dead last in goals allowed per game.

Stack with - David Krejci, David Pastrnak, Patrice Bergeron(PP)

Also Consider - Filip Forsberg - Nashville Predators vs. DAL

DEFENSE

Tyson Barrie
Opponent - MIN
FD - 4700 DK - 5800

He has been an offensive force on the powerplay for the Avs on the back end this season. In 60 games played this year he has recorded 19 points with the man advantage which is tied with Kris Letang for 8th among defensemen. He has also been hot recently with nine points(4 on the PP) in his last 10 games with 27 shots on goal. He will be GPP only on FanDuel as the +/- is always a risk but makes an excellent play on in any format over at DraftKings.

Brooks Orpik
Opponent - PIT
FD - 4000 DK - 4400

Since returning from injury he has tallied six points in seven games. He has been an incredible value for fantasy as he has averaged over 3.5 points per game on both sites. He is better suited for DraftKings where he gets bonus points for blocked shots where he has picked up 18 since returning to action. Going value on defense will allow you to roster one of two of the big guns tonight.

Also Consider - Travis Hamonic - New Islanders @ VAN
