Welcome back to another night of daily fantasy hockey with DFSR. There are seven games on the schedule on Sunday with a split slate (3 early games & 4 late games starting at 6:30 pm et). The following teams are playing on back to back nights:
- St. Louis Blues(Road) *3rd Game in 4 Nights*
- Florida Panthers (Road) *3rd Game in 4 Nights*
- Los Angeles Kings (Road) *3rd Game in 4 Nights*
You can also join in the comment section throughout the day as I will be available to answer any player or strategy questions. Let's dig in to the action and find some core plays for tonight.
Goaltenders
Braden Holtby
Opponent - CHI
FD - 9500 DK - 8700
Top option on the early slate for me today in a tough matchup on the road vs. the Blackhawks. The Caps have had their number winning the last four games in the series and only allowing the Hawks to score five times in total. While the teams have changed in those games the Caps are better now than they have been in many years. Holtby hasn't been great lately but has won four of his last five games.
Also Consider - Al Montoya - Florida Panthers @ MIN
Martin Jones
Opponent - VAN
FD - 8400 DK - 7500
Since winning five of his first seven games in February he has fallen off and lost three of his last four. He has been terrific on the road this year going 19-6-3 with a .921 save % and three shutouts. The Sharks are big favorites and Jones will have one of the best shots at getting a win on Sunday night.
Also Consider - Tuukka Rask - Boston Bruins vs. TB
CENTER
Evgeny Kuznetsov
Opponent - CHI
FD - 7300 DK - 6700
The Capitals have moved Kuznetsov back and forth between the second and first line. He has produced no matter where he falls in the lineup and has tallied 11 points in his last 10 games with 20 shots and a +5 rating. Whether you want a value, second line stack(Burakovsky, Williams) or the Caps PP stack, Kuznetsov makes a terrific choice right around the $7K mark on both sites.
Stack with - Andre Burakovsky, Justin Williams, Alex Ovechkin
Also Consider - Jordan Staal - Carolina Hurricanes vs. STL
John Tavares
Opponent - EDM
FD - 9100 DK - 8000
Of the top centers on the late slate Tavares has the best matchup by far on the road in Edmonton. He has been red hot lately with 14 points (6 on the PP) in his last 10 games with above average shot volume (over 3 per game) and a +2 rating for the Islanders. In an earlier matchup between these two clubs, Tavares picked up a goal and two assists(PP) and should be able to find the twine Sunday night.
Stack with - Ryan Strome, Josh Bailey
Also Consider - Joe Thornton - San Jose Sharks @ ANH
WINGERS
Alex Ovechkin
Opponent - CHI
FD - 10700 DK - 9100
If you are playing the early slate only, you will want to be paying up for one of Kane or Ovechkin. In a projected low scoring game I will take Ovi who provides a much higher floor. He leads the league in shots(307) which is over 70 clear of Kaner. Don't get me wrong Kane makes a nice play as well leading the league in points but being a bit cheaper and at home I think he will be higher owned than Ovi in all formats.
Stack with - Nicklas Backstrom, TJ Oshie, Evgeny Kuznetsov
Also Consider - Jason Pominville - Minnesota Wild vs. FLA
Ondrej Palat
Opponent - BOS
FD - 5400 DK - 4300
The Lightning second line has been a bit under the radar lately and makes a nice low owned stacking option on Sunday night. He has points in three of his last four and coming off a two point game in New Jersey. The Bolts have a nice matchup on the road in Boston vs. the 22nd ranked defense in Boston.
Stack with - Tyler Johnson, Jonathan Marchesseault
Also Consider - Matt Belesky - Boston Bruins vs. TB
DEFENSE
Dmitry Orlov
Opponent - CHI
FD - 4300 DK - 3600
A great low end D option who will save you some salary to pay up for the big guns. He plays on the Caps Top 4 and has seen his ice time trend closer to 20 minutes with every game he plays. He has scored a goal in two straight and has points points in three of his last four games.
Also Consider - Ryan Suter - Minnesota Wild vs. FLA
Jake Muzzin
Opponent - ANA
FD - 5100 DK - 5300
He makes a terrific cash game play tonight as he has averaged around 3.5 shots per game over the last few weeks and for DraftKings he has also added 18 blocked shots. Muzzin has tallied points in three of his last four and is a nice value on a short slate around the $5K range.
Also Consider - Brent Burns - San Jose Sharks @ VAN

I like the almost every day picks section Chris. Keep it up man. This site is growing fast. I’m glad I found it
I didn’t worry about the day slate. Too much action with last day of pga and nascar. NASCAR is an exciting dfs sport. A lot of things can happen very quickly. For NHL tonight it’s a tough one. Im going cash games only tonight. Haven’t had enough time to scope out potential tourney lineups. Im going with halak in Edmonton for My goalie. Tavares is the centrepiece of my lineup and I’m also playing palat Callahan and Bergeron. I’m working on finishing the rest of my lineup now. LA Vs Ana should be low scoring so may not even play anyone from that game. Tampa Boston should be a fairly high scoring affair.
