Let's dig in to the action and find some core plays for tonight.

Goaltenders

Pekka Rinne
Opponent - STL
FD - 8100 DK - 7700

He has somewhat turned his poor season around lately with wins in three of his last four games. In those recent games he has stopped 119 out of 123 shots and recorded a shutout vs. the Bruins back on the 18th. The Preds get the Blues at a good time as they have lost two straight and have been pretty light on the scoring. His salary is at a very affordable level making him a great choice in any format on Saturday.

Also Consider -  Roberto Luongo - Florida Panthers @ CBJ

Semyon Varlamov
Opponent - DET
FD - 9600 DK - 7900

Varlamov should be between the pipes as the Red Wings come to town to face the Avs in Coors Field. It will be a huge game and the second installment of the Stadium Series following last weekends game in Beaver Stadium in Minnesota. I faded the home goalie in that one and paid dearly. I won't make that mistake today as I feel Colorado will thrive in the outdoor atmosphere and feed off their fans.

Also Consider -  Jonathan Quick - Los Angeles Kings vs. BUF

CENTER

Jason Spezza
Opponent - NYR
FD - 5700 DK - 6000

It as the Rangers owning the Stars back in January to the tune of 6-2. The Stars will look to get revenge today in a tough matchup and perceived low scoring game(the under is favored). Paying up for Seguin and Benn doesn't make the best choice of salary use today so a pivot to the second line center will be the play. He also centers the top PP unit with Seguin/Benn so he provides cheap exposure to the leagues #6 powerplay.

Stack with - Tyler Seguin(PP), Jamie Benn(PP)

Also Consider - Brayden Schenn - Philadelphia Flyers vs. ARI

Nathan MacKinnon
Opponent - DET
FD - 6600 DK - 6600

Another Avalanche player who should be fired up playing in his first outdoor game in the NHL. The scoring has fallen off in 2016 with only 12 points since the calendar turned but no better spot than tonight to get it going. The shot volume has been there as he is coming off an 8 shot game vs. the Sharks and has and has 43 shots on goal in his last 10 games.

Stack with - Gabriel Landeskog, Alex Taguay

Also Consider - Nazem Kadri - Toronto Maple Leafs vs. OTT

WINGERS

Jaromir Jagr
Opponent - CBJ
FD - 5800 DK - 5600

You will be hard pressed to find a more consistent forward for the price. The 44 year old Jagr just keeps outproducing players half his age. He has stayed in amazing shape through the years and i would not be surprised to see him play until he is 50 years old. In his most recent 10 games Jagr has tallied 10 points on 24 shots with 10 PIMs and  +5 rating. He is a terrific cash game play in the early slate.

Stack with - Aleksander Barkov, Jussi Jokinen
Also Consider - Boone Jenner - Columbus Blue Jackets vs. FLA

Tyler Toffoli
Opponent - BUF
FD - 5900 DK - 6100

The Kings are home to the Sabres who beat them in each of the last two matchups. Both those games were played in Buffalo and the home team has held the advantage in the most recent meetings winning each of the last five games. Toffoli has got the shot volume back as he has recorded 26 shots in his last seven games played He is coming off a two assist game vs. EDM and it won't be long before he scores another goal.

Stack with - Jeff Carter, Dwight King

Also Consider - Jarome Iginla - Colorado Avalanche vs. DET

DEFENSE

Olli Maatta
Opponent - WPG
FD - 3900 DK - 3800

He just signed an extension with the Penguins and will look to provide some offense as he matures into full time NHL D man. He has been paired with Letang on the top unit and getting around 20 minutes of ice time per game. The shot volume is there averaging over 3 shots a game lately and the offense won't be far behind. He isn't going to wow you with multi point games but provides great value for the price.
Also Consider - Shayne Gostisbehere - Philadelphia Flyers vs. ARI

Jake Muzzin
Opponent - BUF
FD - 5100 DK - 5300

The Kings have a few options on the point who provide nice value for daily fantasy. Tonight I will settle in the mid range of salary and go with Muzzin. His shot volume has been there with 10 shots in his last three games where he has tallied two helpers. He is currently getting over 2:00 of ice time on the PP and has 12 PP points on the season. He is safe in all formats in the late slate with only four games to choose from.
Also Consider - Tyson Barrie - Colorado Avalanche vs. DET
