Welcome back to another night of daily fantasy hockey with DFSR. There are 9 games on the NHL schedule on Tuesday with some great opportunities for offense as 6 of the bottom 10 teams in goals allowed per game are in action.
I have started interacting through the comment section and answering questions about lineups, strategy and just about anything you wanna talk about. I pop in and out throughout the day and will be active for about an hour leading up to lineup lock at 7:00 pm ET.
Let's dig in to the action and find some core plays for tonight.
Goaltenders
Petr Mrazek
Opponent - CBJ
FD - 8900 DK - 7700
Top option tonight in a great matchup at home vs. the Blue jackets who had their number last season. With Detroit losing four straight games and only sitting four points up in a wild card spot, I expect them to come out flying tonight and get back on track. Mrazek is 6-2-2 in his last 10 games with a .915 save % and two shutouts. The Blue Jackets are coming off a big 6-4 win over the Bruins but still own the Eastern Conferences second worst road record and are playing on back to back nights. Get Mrazek in your lineup.
Jonathan Quick
Opponent - CGY
FD - 8500 DK - 8200
Another juicy goalie matchup tonight has Jonathan Quick and the Kings hosting the Calgary Flames on Monday night who own the second worst road record in the NHL with only 9 wins on the season. Quick has been terrific lately allowing 2 goals or less in four straight games going 2-1-1 in that time. If the Kings can get back on track and find their offense(only 4 goals in last 4 games) a win should be in order tonight. He is safe in all formats.
Also Consider - Michal Neuvirth - Philadelphia Flyers @ CAR
CENTER
Tyler Seguin
Opponent - WPG
FD - 7500 DK - 8600
The superstar forward for the Stars has found the form he enjoyed earlier in the year. Since the All Star break he has tallied 12 points (6 on the PP) and provided a very high floor averaging close to four shots on goal per game. The Stars get a high upside matchup tonight in Winnipeg against the Jets who have lost three straight games and rank 24th in goals allowed per game. Look for the Stars to produce some offense which should be lead by their elite top line.
Stack with - Jamie Benn, Patrick Sharp
Sam Gagner
Opponent - CAR
FD - 4000 DK - 3100
Claude Giroux has been ruled out for tonight's game with an injury. He missed last game and Gagner stepped in and centered Simmonds and Schenn and picked up a goal in 15:30 of ice time vs. the Leafs. He should adopt the same role tonight which presents another opportunity for a very cheap value play in a great matchup vs. the Hurricanes.
Stack with - Wayne Simmonds, Brayden Schenn
Also Consider - Jordan Staal - Carolina Hurricanes vs. PHI
WINGERS
Tyler Toffoli
Opponent - CGY
FD - 5700 DK - 5900
A player sitting very high in the projections model tonight due to his shot volume. In all situations this season he is averaging over 17 iCorsi/60 which has produced over 3 shots per game over the last few weeks. The Kings offense has sputtered lately but is due for a big outing and no better spot than at home tonight vs. a flames team with the second worst road record in the NHL.
Stack with - Jeff Carter, Milan Lucic
Jeff Skinner
Opponent - PHI
FD - 6000 DK - 5100
The last game between these two tames(Dec. 12/15) saw a 4-3 Flyer win with tons of fantasy production on both sides. It was Skinner who exploded for a hat trick for the Canes and while I don't believe he will match that this time around, I do believe this game will be another high scoring affair. Skinner has been playing good lately tallying 9 points(3 on the PP) in his last 10 games with 32 shots on goal and an impressive +5 rating.
Stack with - Victor Rask, Elias Lindholm
Also Consider - Ryan Callahan - Tampa Bay lightning vs. ARI
DEFENSE
Shayne Gostisbehere
Opponent - CAR
FD - 5400 DK - 6000
He has extended his rookie record point streak to 15 games now and is absolutely tearing up the league. I his first NHL season he has 34 points in only 40 games played. In his last 10 games he has added extra value as he has started blocking more shots and averages around 2-3 shots on goal per game. He is the quarterback on the PP and gets multiple scoring chances every game. He is playing like a $7K+ player right now and until his price gets there i will be locking him in nightly.
Nick Leddy
Opponent - MIN
FD - 5100 DK - 4500
Digging a little deeper down the list we find Nick Leddy as a terrific value tonight. He has tallied 10 points(5 on the PP) in his last 10 games including 15 shots and 14 blocks for the Islanders. He is currently enjoying his best offensive stretch of the season and it would be wise to ride it out while it lasts.
Also Consider - Matt Dumba - Minnesota Wild vs. NYI

Hello everyone. Hope your night went good last night. Rinne ended up being the best value last night in a 2-1 win over the struggling Habs and propelled me to win 70% of my H2H’s. No luck in GPP’s though. Back to the well tonight.
I love the Flyers for value tonight. Schenn and Gagner playing with Simmonds as Giroux is out again.
I love Quick and Mrazek as my fav goalies.
Great intell yesterday! I did pretty good on NHL last night. Thank you, sir!
No problem. I will have more lineup construction time today as I got my PGA content finished this am.
How do you feel about Niederreiter/Haula/Pomminville backing up a Benn/Seguin/Sharp stack?
They will be a low owned stack that could be a terrific buy to go with DAL stack.
I know it’s a bit of a dice roll, but I do appreciate the reply. Thanks
not for nothing Im going heavy Stars and LA tonight..w
Chris my man. Good picks today. I’m on an epic losing streak. I used to consider myself good at NHL dfs. My confidence is out the window, but I’m not giving up sir. Thanks to Doug and James and the system, nba has kept my bankroll afloat. I like tonight’s games and I hope I get rid of this horrid losing streak. I’m gonna post some picks I like later. Good work man.
Kings are a great pick tonight Greg. Flames suck on the road and starting Ortio tonight. Love the Stars also as highlighted in article. Good luck tonight.
Sorry to hear Ryan. I know the feeling. Had that streak in NFl all year. I quit DFS hockey at one point last year for the same reason. i learned from my baseball background that variance needs to be embraced. When i get in a funk I will try some new strategies like stacking 2nd/3rd lines with high end D men to be contrarian. taking unpopular teams and stacking them, or solely playing H2H for awhile.
Losing sucks! But the bad times make the good times so much better.
What’s your take on Audy-Marchessault tonight taking Kucherov’s spot? Solid play?
I like TB2 tonight vs. Yotes on back to back. March skating with TJ and Palat this morning. I am thinking 4+ goals for the Bolts.
Thanks Chris I appreciate the kind words. Yes I may have to adjust some things. Tonight is where the good times start happening. Of luck everyone
