Daily Fantasy Basketball Injury News and Updates for FanDuel and DraftKings - 2/10/16

Welcome to the daily updates and injury news article. We'll try and update it right up to line-up locks with as much information as comes across our desks. Let's get to it!

Last night's picks can be found here, so you can wrap your mind around what you need to be looking at before lineups lock tonight.

By the way - we keep our projection system updated with all of the changes as they occur throughout the day right up until lineup lock. Every day. If you want access to that system so you can cut out a lot of the research element, click the button below!

Now let’s look at some news that’s come in throughout the day to see if anything’s changed in our minds or in the NBA landscape.

What We Know

Marc Gasol is out, Zach Randolph and Jeff Green get big bumps
Gasol is out indefinitely with a fractured foot, opening up a gaping hole on both sides of the ball for the Grizzlies. With Gasol off the court this season, Randolph sees a 16% usage bump, and Green sees nearly a 20% usage bump. The wild thing here is that the Grizzlies really have no reasonable back-up big man option. Brandan Wright's injured, and Ryan Hollins is Ryan Hollins. That means Z-Bo, Z-Bo, and more Z-Bo. All in tonight.

Derrick Rose is playing
Rose was a late and unexpected scratch in the Bulls' loss to the Hornets, but appears to be on track to play tonight. This will mean less usage for E'Twaun Moore, and will kill any value Aaron Brooks or Kirk Hinrich had.

Tim Duncan is back
Adios, David West punt plays. Duncan is not usually playable due to the variability of his minutes, and this is no exception on a huge slate tonight.

What We’re Waiting to Know

Tony Parker is questionable
Patty Mills has been an attractive fantasy option when Parker's been out in the past, even when he hasn't gotten the start. It wouldn't shock me at all if Parker missed this game given the long rest of the ASB that's right around the corner.

Ersan Ilyasova is doubtful
Anthony Tolliver played 35 minutes the last time Ilyasova sat, but the man is basically trash from a fantasy perspective. Still, this frees up more shots for Reggie Jackson & Stanley Johnson, whom the system already liked quite a bit.

Tobias Harris - is he playing?
Harris' absence would mean another night that we could consider Evan Fournier, even in a tough match-up with the Spurs. I'd be more hesitant on a guy like Victor Oladipo, whose price is high enough to where any minutes loss could cause big problems. But if Harris is out, Fournier is a very intriguing big tournament play.

Update: Harris missed shoot-around this morning, and I'd lean toward calling him questionable now. Stay tuned.

The "every lineup" guys

Zach Randolph - FD 6300 DK 6500
Opponent - BKN
FD Proj. Pts - 33.32 DK Proj. Pts - 33.94
If you throw in the fact that Z-Bo gets a 16% usage bump and the fact that Brooklyn sucks at post defense, you'll understand why our projection system refuses to let you play anyone except Randolph tonight. Z-Bo in every format for me.

Anthony Davis - FD 10200 DK 9700
Opponent - UTA
FD Proj. Pts - 50.06 DK Proj. Pts - 50.82
Against the Jazz! Here's the thing - Davis just isn't priced the way superstars who put up his numbers are. Curry, Westbrook, Durant - these guys are all 11k, and Davis remains underpriced relative to his production. He's got an increased role with Tyreke out for the season, and plays some of the most consistent minutes in the league. Yes, this is an awful match-up, but Davis did just put up 58 fantasy points against the Spurs. Probably one of those times to be greedy when others are being fearful.

Stanley Johnson - FD 4900 DK 6000
Opponent - DEN
FD Proj. Pts - 26.18 DK Proj. Pts - 28
Johnson is coming off his worst game since moving into the starting lineup, but this is a terrific match-up with the Nuggets, who have allowed the 10th most fantasy points per game to opposing small forwards this season. He's still just too cheap for the huge minutes he plays.

  • Updates coming throughout the day in the article itself - bolded. Thanks y'all!

    • Lol! Woops. Left over from a previous version of the article. Fixed it, and sorry!

  • I am not happy Batum was moved to shooting guard on FD and I have been riding em hard lately.

  • Bunch of teams on back to back. Hoping we get some guys sitting to free up some punt plays. Vegas has SA only 8pt fave over Magic. Have to think Pop is sitting someone with that line.

On Batum... almost missed him when I was putting together my initial lineup until I noticed the SG switch.

  • Tayshaun Prince got permission to head to Chauncy's jersey retirement in Detroit tonight so might mean Zach starting in Minny.

  • What big name player is a must start tonight? Harden? Curry? L. James? Trying to plug in lower cost fillers, but having some trouble. Thanks

    • Hey Jeff - do you have access to our projection system? All the projections for these guys are in there.

  • SAS game just totally changed with Tim Duncan likely to play, Tony Parker Questionable, Kyle Anderson also playing. I imagine the line will move as well.

    • Yup. Patty Mills is an intriguing option off the bench, and a great option if he's starting.

  • What do ya think:
    Lillard
    Ish
    CJ Mc
    J Crawford
    M Morris (Pistons)
    S Johnson
    Brow
    Z Randolph
    Bogut

  • would you rather play kobe in his last game in cleveland, or oladipo against a tough spurs team? both have the same projection roughly.
also any thoughts on paul pierce going back to boston?
i'm all about narrative street tonight.
    thanks,
