Welcome to the daily fantasy hockey picks article for DraftKings & FanDuel for Friday, January 15th, 2016. Tonight we have a smaller six game slate with the following teams playing on back to back nights:

  • Winnipeg Jets (Road) *3rd Game in Four Nights*
  • Vancouver Canucks (Road)
  • Chicago Blackhawks (Road) *3rd Game in Four Nights*
  • Carolina Hurricanes *3rd Game in Four Nights*

There is a lack of top goaltending options tonight, opening up some second tier value and making multiple lineups in GPP's a great option. Let's take a look at some core plays for tonight.

Goaltenders

Devan Dubnyk
Opponent - WPG
FD - 8100 DK - 7800

Normally he would not be my #1 option but on a shorter slate with a lack of elite options Dubnyk makes the safest choice. The Wild are at home tonight to face a Jets team playing on back to back nights and a third game in four nights. While inconsistent lately, Dubnyk has recorded a 18-12-4 record and impressive .920 save percentage.

Scott Darling
Opponent - TOR
FD - 8200 DK - 7400

With the Hawks playing on back to back nights, Darling will get the nod in tonight's matchup vs. the Leafs. Darling has won two straight starts stopping 44 of 48 shots. The Hawks are playing their best hockey of the season winning nine straight games making it a great opportunity to use a backup goalie in GPP formats.

Also Consider - Tuukka Rask - Boston Bruins @ BUF

CENTER

Patrice Bergeron
Opponent - BUF
FD - 6500 DK - 7300

The Bruins have lost 8 of their last 10 games but Patrice Bergeron continues to produce for fantasy owners. He has six points in his last 10 games with three on the powerplay. When the offensive production is down he continues to provide a high floor with shots. He has 38 shots in the last 10 games and 145 on the season. Great cash game play but the upside is limited with the Bruins current play.

Stack with -  Brad Marchand, Loui Eriksson, Jimmy Hayes

Jonathan Toews
Opponent - TOR
FD - 8500 DK - 6200

He kept the fire burning last game as he picked up a goal and now has 12 points in his last 10 games. He has also added 35 shots and a +9 rating. The Blackhawks themselves have won nine straight games and have tied the Stars for the Central Division lead. They are playing a third game in four nights on the road tonight in Toronto so be cautious but at his current salary on DraftKings he is safe in all formats.

Stack with - Marian Hossa, Andrew Shaw

Also Consider - Eric Staal - Carolina Hurricanes vs. VAN

WINGERS

Zach Parise
Opponent - WPG
FD - 8800 DK - 7800

The Wild have lost two straight games and will look to get back on track tonight at home vs. the Jets. Minnesota has been a much better team at home this year while the Jets have struggled on the road. Parise has recorded seven points in his last 10 games with 31 shots and a +3 rating. He makes a fantastic GPP play if you want to pivot off Jamie Benn and Patrick Sharp at LW.

Stack with - Mikko Koivu, Mikael Granlund

Nikita Kucherov
Opponent - PIT
FD - 6400 DK - 6200

One of the top values on the night is Kucherov who has recorded 13 points in his last 10 games including four multi point games. He has been averaging around 20 minutes a game with close to 3:30 on the powerplay. The Lightning currently hold the #1 Wild Card spot in the East and will be in the fight right up until the end of the regular season. With Steven Stamkos not quite at his elite level, the Bolts will need Kucherov to continue the offensive output we have seen this far.

Stack with - Alex Killorn, Tyler JohnsonAndrej Palat

Also Consider - Patric Hornqvist - Pittsburgh Penguins @ TB

DEFENSE

Kris Letang
Opponent - TB
FD - 6200 DK - 6000

He has been red hot since returning from injury in late December with 12 points in those nine games including six on the powerplay. He provides a fairly high floor averaging 2.7 shots and 1.8 blocks per game since returning. The Penguins will be fighting for their playoff lives this season and will need all hands on deck for the remainder of the year. Letang is safe in any format tonight.

Ryan Suter
Opponent - WPG
FD - 4500 DK - 6100

He comes in a bit too expensive on DraftKings but is a great value on FanDuel still under $5K. He has produced six points in his last 10 games with 24 shots and 16 blocks. He is second in the NHL in ice time and gets a ton of opportunities to pick up fantasy points. He is coming off a game in which he had a goal and an assist and will look to carry that momentum into tonight's matchup vs. Winnipeg.

Also Consider - Morgan Reilly - Toronto Maple Leafs
