Welcome to the daily fantasy hockey picks article for DraftKings, FanDuel, & Draftpot for Tuesday, January 5th, 2016. Tonight we have a 8 game slate and no teams will be playing on back to back nights. The Christmas break was forgiving to a few players dealing with injuries who are now making their way back to the lineups and producing for their teams. These players also provide nice value on certain sites as their salaries have not adjusted to them returning.

Lets take a look at some top plays and value plays for tonight.

Goaltenders

Roberto Luongo - Florida Panthers @ BUF *Probable*
DraftKings - $8,200 FanDuel - $9,600 DraftPot -  6.08 DPPG

He has been red hot lately riding a 7 game win streak where he has recorded two shutouts and only allowed more than 2 goals on one occasion. He has been a key cog in pushing the Panthers to the Atlantic Division lead and being a strong contender in the Eastern Conference. The Panthers get a plus matchup tonight as they travel to Buffalo to face the Sabres.

Pekka Rinne - Nashville Predators *Probable*
DraftKings - $7,500 FanDuel - $8,700 DraftPot -  4.44 DPPG

He started off the year 10-5 and the entire Predators team played a very strong defensive game. Everything changed in mid November and Rinne and the Preds have struggled and fallen to 5th in the Central Division. The struggle shave pushed his price down just below elite levels and makes a great time to jump on board. His ownership should be low and he is coming off a 27 save win vs. Carolina on Saturday. He gets a home matchup vs. the Jets who have struggled on the road while Rinne and the Preds have been much better at home this year.

CENTER

Sidney Crosby - Pittsburgh Penguins vs. CHI
DraftKings - $7,100 FanDuel - $8,900 DraftPot - 4.70 DPPG

He has really started to turn his season around recently with 10 points in his last 8 games. In that time he has been averaging over 3 shots on net per game and five of those 10 points have come on the powerplay. The players are starting to look comfortable under the new coach and the offense, especially Crosby, has been a big beneficiary. He makes the best value on DraftKings, only costing you 14% of your salary cap.

Stack with - Evgeni Malkin, Phil Kessel, Patric Hornqvist

Jason Spezza - Dallas Stars @ NYR
DraftKings - $6,000 FanDuel - $6,200 DraftPot -  3.85 DPPG

He makes a great pivot off the more expensive Tyler Seguin on the Stars #1 ranked offense. He is averaging over 16 min a game and has picked up 11 points in his last 10 games with 4 powerplay points. He ranks 14th in the league averaging 19.5 iCorsi/60 which has provided 119 shots on goal giving Spezza a nice floor for cash games and plenty of upside for tournaments.

Also Consider - Mark Scheifele - Winnipeg Jets @ NSH

 

WINGERS

Brendan Gallagher - Montreal Canadiens @ PHI
DraftKings - $6,300 FanDuel(RW) - $5,600 DraftPot -  4.13 DPPG

He made his return form injury last game vs. the Bruins and picked up a goal and an assist in 18 min of ice time. He returned to the top line and top PP unit and looked like he didn't skip a beat. The Habs have been struggling with injuries to himself and Carey Price and the return should help spark another strong run of hockey. His best value is on FanDuel tonight.

Stack with - Max Pacioretty, Tomas Plekanec

Patrick Sharp - Dallas Stars @ NYR
DraftKings - $6,900 FanDuel(RW) - $7,700 DraftPot -  5.08 DPPG

He is only playable on DraftKings & FanDuel where he will cost 14% of your salary vs. 17% on DraftPot for GM Mode games. He gives you quite a large savings off his line mates and provides a very high floor with shots and comes in riding a 9 game point streak. He is safe in all formats tonight.

Stack with - Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn

 

Ondrej Palat - Tampa Bay Lightning @ CGY
DraftKings - $3,600 FanDuel(LW) - $6,100 DraftPot -  1.78 DPPG

One of the top value plays for Tuesday night on DraftKings and DraftPot. His price is depressed as he is only one game back from injury. He picked up an assist and 3 shots on 17 min of ice time last time out and is back on a line with Kucherov and Johnson. His salary is on DK and DP make him a must play vs. a Flames team ranked 29th in goals allowed per game.

Stack with -  Nikita Kucherov, Tyler Johnson

Also Consider - Alex Ovechkin - Washington Capitals @ BOS

DEFENSE

P.K. Subban - Montreal Canadiens @ PHI
DraftKings - $5,800 FanDuel - $6,300 DraftPot -  2.98 DPPG

The projection system absolutely loves Subban tonight on the road in Philadelphia. He is riding a 3 game point streak and has 6 points in his last 10 games. In that time he has provided a nice floor with 32 shots on goal and 10 blocks. The return of Gallagher to the lineup seems to have given a boost to the entire Habs team and now they get a matchup vs. the Flyers allowing 2.7 goals against per game.

Ryan Ellis - Nashville predators vs. WPG
DraftKings - $4,000 FanDuel - $5,500 DraftPot -  3.03 DPPG

Great value option Tuesday who has picked up points in 3 of his last 4 games and added shots and blocks providing a nice floor. He is best for cash game salary relief as he doesn't have the upside needed for tournament success.

Also Consider - Shayne Gostisbehere - Philadelphia Flyers vs. MON
