    Quarterback

    Thursday FanDuel
    Baker Mayfield
It’s hard to say which direction the crowd will go tonight between Mayfield and Watson, but my GPS says Mayfield. Both quarterbacks have similar skill sets, but Watson is probably the better NFL prospect. My selection of Mayfield is really about the Sooners defense compared to Clemson. Both defenses are talented, but I think the Sooners present the stiffer challenge. Mayfield also has the most talented receiver of either team in Sterling Shepard. Oklahoma also has the highest projected team points and even though they run the ball quite a bit Mayfield is very much the leader of the offense. Ultimately I will have exposure to both, but more so on Mayfield.
    Friday FanDuel
    JT Barrett
Like Thursday we have two ways to go at quarterback, Barrett or Kelly. Kelly has been running a little hot with rushing touchdowns in the short term and I think his FanDuel salary responded to his recent game log. Ole Miss actually has the higher projected team points, but I still like Barrett as the safer play. Barrett’s game is predicated on his ability to run the ball, but he still has the ability to pass when he has too. The last time I recommended Barrett he puked on the field and went back to the locker room or at least that would have been a slight improvement compared to the way he played. DFS requires a short memory and to not get caught up in recency bias. It also helps he totally crushed it in the season finale against Michigan who has a pretty tough defense or at least better than Notre Dame. This is going to be the Zeke/Barrett show and I think the Irish fans could be in for a long one.
    Draftkings Value
    Chad Kelly
Considering I felt it was fairly close on FanDuel where Kelly and Barrett were priced neck and neck. I think it makes it pretty clear to ride Kelly on Draftkings at a discounted salary compared to Barrett. Kelly has been running hot over his last 3 games scoring 7 rushing touchdowns. Considering he scored 10 rushing touchdowns all year it’s likely an unsustainable trend. Regardless, Ole Miss is expected to score roughly 37 points and even though I don’t expect his rushing totals to continue there is still plenty of opportunity at this price.

    Running Back

    Thursday FanDuel
    Dalvin Cook
Short slates can sometimes make things difficult, but they can also make it very clear who the top play is and that’s what we have here. Cook is a dynamo and had it not been for some nagging injuries could have found himself in the Heisman talk. He can take it to the house from anywhere on the field is a popular phrase used to described skilled position players, but Cook is the definition of said phrase. This dude can straight up boogie and with FSU generally sucking outside of Cook you can bet he will be the game plan. Cook is nasty to the point he is capable of generating 17 fantasy points with just two carries as he did against Wake Forest. In his final regular season game against rival Florida, Cook ripped off 183 yards and 2 scores on 26 carries. In case you haven’t watched much college football, Florida has one of the best defenses in the country. In comparison, Heisman trophy winner, Derrick Henry ran for 189 yards and 1 score against Florida, but needed 44 carries to do so. This is one decision you ought not think about, just make it.
    Friday FanDuel
    Ezekiel Elliott
The trend continues, short slate and another clear choice at the position. Zeke has been grooving over since the beginning of October minus the puke bomb against Michigan State where the entire Buckeye team was awful. Elliot made his frustrations public which is something I have always felt should be kept in the locker room, but we’re not here to psychoanalyze his maturity level. The important thing here is the talent and his ability to deliver against his salary. Elliot has surpassed 100 yards in every game but one and has twice surpassed 200 yards rushing. He has also scored in every game but one and has 4 games with multiple touchdowns. Barrett could vulture some goal line work, but I am happy to pair the two together in cash games. My Father-in-Law cheers for 3 teams; Navy and whoever Notre Dame and Ohio State play. I am a loyal man, but this is business and the business says cheer for the Buckeyes.

    Draftkings Value
    Jordan Canzeri
The eye test says this is a tough matchup against Stanford and I won’t disagree. That said, sometimes you need to accept a little more risk in order to fill out your roster. The eye test also says Canzeri is capable of producing against tough defenses. Also, Stanford is not the shut down defense of years past. They actually rank 52nd against the run and have allowed over 4.5 YPC and 16 touchdowns on the year. They’re not a pushover, but they’re susceptible. Canzeri is fairly cheap considering what he’s capable of.

    Wide Receiver

    Thursday FanDuel
    Sterling Shepard
Receiver as a whole isn’t great as there a lot of guys all capable of putting up nice stats, but are also capable of putting in a very underwhelming performance. In a vacuum I really like Shepard’s price considering his role in the offense and his expected opportunity when he faces Clemson. We’re not in a vacuum and rostering Shepard along with the big money plays at the other positions could prove to be difficult. Oklahoma is generally a team that prefers to run the ball and I don’t expect that to change in their upcoming bowl game. That said, Sterling is their only true threat in the passing game and with defenses gearing up to stop the run it leaves Shepard with plenty of room to run in the secondary. Sterling has scored a touchdown in 5 straight games to go along with his 47 receptions over that same span. Compared to the field he is the clear choice and I will look to make the money work.
    Friday FanDuel
    William Fuller
For the most part there has been a clear choice at each position Thursday and Friday, but this one is not so clear. I could go either way between Fuller and Treadwell, but money is tight and I think the slight price break with Fuller makes him the easier guy to roster. Unless you go super cheap in a couple other slots, and I think that’s a bad idea, the money just doesn’t allow for Treadwell. Fuller has the more difficult matchup, but he has shown the ability throughout the year to beat some of the better defenses in the country. The Irish are 7pt dogs and even though their backfield appears healthy they will need to pass against the Buckeyes. Fuller can burn with big play ability and if ND wants to hang with Ohio State they will need Kizer to connect with the speedy wideout.
    Draftkings Value
    Kermit Whitfield
Whitfield makes a fine value play on Draftkings that can be used across all formats. There’s no question Cook is the center of the offense, but with Golson out of the picture and MaGuire under center the Seminoles passing game should be more effective. Whitfield is a bit inconsistent, but at $4200 that’s going to happen. His ceiling is quite high compared to the price given he has hit 7x three times this season. In spite of his inconsistency I will be trotting Whitfield out there in just about every lineup I run. You simply need to have guys in the lower price range and Whitfield is one of your better options at this price.

    Tight End

    Thursday FanDuel
    Jordan Leggett
I personally will not be spending up at tight end as I feel they are low percentage plays. In GPP format I would bet on Leggett. Clemson will be facing one of the best defenses it has played all year so they will have to be patient on offense which could result in a few more check downs to Leggett. You can also consider Andrews for the Sooners, but I would probably stick with Leggett for my tournaments.
    Friday FanDuel
    Jake Butt
Look, he has a funny name, I get it, but in the land of DFS we don’t discriminate in any way. The truth is Butt is a darn good pass catching tight end and should find himself on an NFL roster some day. I know I have an eye on him for the dynasty league I’m in that awards 2pts PPR for tight ends. The other truth is I am looking to save every dollar possible and could find myself going with the best 2k option.
    Draftkings Value
    Jake Butt - see above
Just be thankful tight ends are not required, but Butt can still be considered as a punt option.
