It's College Bowl Season and we will bring picks, plays and lineups for every slate during this most wonderful time of the year. Things kick off this Saturday with a few Bowl games to whet your whistle.
We're also selling lineups for every CFB slate. This week they include DraftKings and FanDuel lineups. They are $5 and are separate from our membership subscription. This season of our 69% of our FanDuel lineups have moneyed in cash games, and one won the FanDuel Redshirt tournament. Meanwhile 60% of our DraftKings lineups have hit in cash games. Don't miss out.
Jeff Driskel
Quarterback, and to a lesser extent running back, are certainly a tale of two tapes depending on the site you’re playing. Pricing is grossly different, making the expensive quarterbacks on one site seemingly the cheaper options on the other. Driskel for example, is the most expensive quarterback on DraftKings, but only the 5th most expensive on FanDuel. So while I like Driskel quite a bit on FanDuel I won’t have him in many lineups, if at all, on DraftKings. Tech got waxed by a surging Southern Miss team to end the season and while we shouldn’t disrespect Arkansas State, they aren’t on the same level as Southern Miss. They do bring a stellar offense to town, but when we play in Fantasyland, offense is good. This is the final game on the docket and carries the highest total as well at a cool 67. That’s a big number, but even that may be a little light for these two offenses. Driskel has ample weapons to distribute the ball and a stud tailback to keep the pressure off. Driskel is a top play on FanDuel.
Kenny Potter
San Jose’s offense ended the season clicking on all cylinders and it’s largely the result of Kenny Potter’s play. Over his last 3 games Potter threw for 9 touchdowns and added 2 more on the ground. Tyler Ervin is a very talented back and carried the Spartans through much of the season, but as Potter took his play to the next level Ervin has taken a back seat. Even in a final regular season loss to Boise, Potter still accounted for almost 400 yards of offense and all 3 of San Jose’s touchdowns. Georgia State finished the season with a very impressive upset win against Georgia Southern giving the Panthers 4 straight wins to close out the season. This should be a fun game to watch with both teams playing well heading into the break. I like Potter’s dual threat ability and even if he cannot carry his team to a Bowl win I like his chances to fill up the stat sheet.
Joe Williams
Williams started the last two games for the injured Booker and didn’t let us down by ripping off a combined 308 yards rushing on 60 carries. Utah has made it abundantly clear, they aren’t changing their offense as a result of losing their star running back and they wholeheartedly trust Williams. You don’t give a guy 60 carries over two games if you lack confidence in their ability. BYU is far from a cake matchup, but FanDuel seems to have skipped over Williams when generating salaries. I am not sure how much I will run Williams on DraftKings due to pricing difference, but I’m okay getting away from him there considering his price on FanDuel will have him in most of my lineups. Utah is a small favorite with a total in the mid 50’s. Given his usage rate there should be enough opportunity for Williams to hit value.
Jhurell Pressley
Pressley sits somewhere on the opposite side of the spectrum compared to Williams. Williams is more of a workhorse that more or less chips away all game and when the dust settles has a nice stat line. Pressley, on the other hand, receives about 40% fewer carries than Williams, but is more than capable to match the end result. The Lobos run the ball quite a bit, something Arizona has struggled to stop most of the year. It’s not ideal that New Mexico is a 10 point dog as running backs tend to under perform when playing in that scenario, but with a total in the mid 60’s New Mexico is still expected to get their's. The son of Jhurell does not come without some risk, but a Supermanesk performance could be on the ticket.
Trent Taylor
Charles Henderson
To me this is the easiest decision of the night. Trent Taylor, and to a lesser extent Carlos Henderson, are my top choices for cash games at the position. Taylor is the most consistent receiver on the slate and it isn’t particularly close. The only thing that has been eating into Taylor’s production is the late surge by Henderson. That being said, Driskel knows where to butter his bread and if La. Tech is to win this game I suspect Taylor will be heavily involved. Tech was thumped in the regular season finale by a very solid Southern Miss team, but Taylor still hauled in 11 passes. Henderson has emerged as the #2 behind Taylor after playing third fiddle for much of the year. Over his last 4 games Henderson has 19 receptions for 415 yards and 4 scores. The duo’s pricing is even-Steven on FanDuel making Taylor the clear play, but on DraftKings Carlos comes at a nice discount arguably making him the better value between the two.
Penny Hart
Reggie Davis
While I feel Taylor is the clear choice, Hart is a close 2nd. Like the two from La. Tech, Hart and Davis are both viable options and can also be paired together. The money is such on FanDuel that there is no need to go down to Davis for cash games, but on DraftKings were the lineups are deeper and the pricing more difficult both are squarely in play. Hart has only two games all season where he finished with less than 10 fantasy points and more often than not surpassed 15 fantasy points. We’re not talking Josh Doctson numbers, but relative to the slate these are pretty solid numbers. Georgia State is going to have it’s hands full against San Jose State, but I think there will be more points scored than the Vegas total of 56. Hart and Taylor should be in all your cash lineups with Henderson and Davis making solid options when the money fits.
Keith Rucker
Billy Freeman
There are two ways to go at the position, Keith Rucker or Billy Freeman, and I wouldn’t blame you regardless the direction you go. Both players are featured in the offense and even though neither is a top option they still get regular targets. I will probably have exposure to both, but I prefer Rucker if forced to choose. Also, Rucker is strong value on DK as one of the few punt options that isn’t a total shot in the dark. In a vacuum I would consider both players an overpay, but fortunately the money is forgiving and rostering either of these guys shouldn’t be an issue.
