Daily Fantasy NFL Picks for Draftpot - Week 14

Welcome to the Week 14 DFS NFL picks article for Draftpot, a brand new way to play fantasy sports. Draftpot is similar to other DFS sites except there is no salary cap restrictions. They offer two separate game types(Fan Mode/GM Mode). For NFL, Fan Mode allows you to build a roster of 1 QB,2 RB,3 WR,1 TE,2 FLEX,1 K,1 DEF without salary restrictions. You can roster anyone you want. In GM Mode, you also roster the same positions but have a Drafpot Points Per Game(DPPG) cap. Each player have a PPG value attached to their name which is a reflection of their previous 16 games played. This gives a more transparent look at player value.

When making my picks I will be looking at a multitude of information (Vegas lines, totals and player props, targets, defensive matchups, injuries, offensive line rankings and of course DPPG) to break down all the players in the pool to provide you with the best analysis possible for the slate at hand.

If you missed out on Week 13 at DraftPot, you missed out on some excellent guaranteed prize pools at every level of buyin:

  • $15 Buyin - $15,000 Touchdown(Fan Mode) paying out $1,500 to 1st place
  • $15 Buyin - $15,000 Spike(GM Mode) paying out $1,500 to 1st place

Also, don't forget about the "No Rake" head to head contests. A great way to maximize your profit and build your bankroll!

To win a tournament in Fan Mode you won't be able to just pick the top players at their positions each week. You will need to differentiate yourself with some low ownership picks. One way I love doing this is picking good players who are coming off a bad to horrible week. Recency bias plays a huge part in daily fantasy and is something we can use to our advantage to gain an edge on the field in large field GPP tournaments. I feel there is a tremendous opportunity for this here in week 14 with the number of poor performances by top players last week.

Remember, in a mode like DraftPot you will need some separation from the field. Players who stand to produce big games that give you a chance to break from the pack some.

Quarterbacks

Jameis Winston - Tampa Bay Buccaneers (DPPG - 17.79)
Opponent- vs. NO

I am targeting the Saints defense again this week with my #1 QB pick. They gave up 300+ yards passing and 5 TD's to Cam Newton last weekend and while Winston isn't at Cam levels...yet, he has an abundance of weapons to help him. Jameis has really progressed nicely throughout the season and has developed nice pocket awareness. Add to it the fact he can take off and score on the ground and you have a high floor, high upside pick.

Blake Bortles - Jacksonville Jaguars (DPPG - 18.34)
Opponent- IND

He has continued to impress people all year with his consistent play on the Jaguars. He put up his 5th 300+ yard passing game of the season while throwing for 5 TD's last week vs. the Titans. He now has 3274 passing yards, 27 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. The connection and chemistry he has shown with his WR's (Hurns and Robinson) has been a huge part to the success. Look for another big game on Sunday vs. the Colts who also struggle to contain quarterbacks.

Also Consider: Ryan Fitzpatrick - New York Jets (18.91 DPPG)

Running Backs

Lesean McCoy - Buffalo Bills  (DPPG - 12.91)
Opponent- @ PHI

By far the most popular narrative of the week is McCoy returning to face his former team. The break up between Chip Kelly and Lesean McCoy was a nasty one and clearly has left a bitter taste in McCoy's mouth. He will be playing with extra motivation and you can bet Rex Ryan will give him the ball every opportunity he can. McCoy has been very productive recently with at least 100 yards rushing or a TD in four of his last five games.

Shaun Draughn - San Francisco 49ers (DPPG - 4.0)
Opponent- @ CLE

Will most likely be lower owned in Fan Mode than GM Mode as his DPPG is only 4.0 and won't kill your cap. He has been a wonderful surprise filling in for Carlos Hyde. He has put up three straight double digit fantasy point games all while not recording more than 58 yards rushing. He is a tremendous pass catcher and has caught 4/8/5 in the last three weeks. He has a very high floor and might finally hold some upside in a matchup vs. the Browns are close to last in points allowed to running backs.

Also Consider: Matt Forte - Chicago Bears (14.13 DPPG)

Wide Receivers

A.J. Green - Cincinnati Bengals (17.45 DPPG)
Opponent- PIT

The reception numbers haven't been there as we would expect but has put up two monster games back to back with 23+ DraftPot points. He now faces a Steelers team in which he has grabbed 805 yards and 5 TD's in 9 career games. With the division matchup the score should stay fairly close meaning 10+ targets for the Bengals top WR option.

Allen Robinson - Jacksonville Jaguars (18.42 DPPG)
Opponent- IND

The breakout 2nd year player continues to improve and impress everyone around the NFL. He is coming off a 3 TD game last week with 153 yards receiving. He is the top offensive option for Blake Bortles and sits 8th in the league in targets. He gets another great matchup this week in the Colts who are ranked 3rd last in fantasy points allowed to wide receivers.

Also Consider: Mike Evans - Tampa Bay Buccaneers (DPPG 13.14)

Tight Ends

Tyler Eifert - Cincinnati Bengals (DPPG - 12.24)
Opponent- PIT

After A.J. Green, the Bengals top scoring threat has been Eifert so far in 2015. While he won't get you a ton of yards(only one 100 yard game in 2015), he does provide multi touchdown upside as he has already put up four multi TD games this year. He is back at practice and probable for Sunday and could be a bit lower owned due to the early week injury concerns.

Gary Barnidge - Cleveland Browns (DPPG - 11.98)
Opponent- SF

Has been an incredible fantasy option this year on a disastrous Browns team. He has picked up 5+ receptions in 5 of his last 6 games and has 60 receptions on the season with 817 yards receiving and 7 touchdowns. Whether the Browns come out to play or fall behind early, Barnidge will be a big part of the offense.

Also Consider -  Greg Olsen - Carolina Panthers (DPPG - 14.85)

Defenses

Seattle Seahawks (DPPG - 10.50)
Opponent-  @ BAL

The Seahawks defense is definitely more intimidating at home but have a great matchup on the road in Baltimore this week. Baltimore is without their starting QB and look to be starting 3rd stringer Jimmy Clausen this week. The Ravens are also with Forsett and Steve Smith and are depleted and looking to end the season asap before losing any other players. Look for the Seahawks to smell the blood and attack like sharks.

San Francisco 49ers (DPPG - 4.94)
Opponent- @ CLE

If you are looking to grab a defense that could be possibly be low owned and put up double digit points, the 49ers make a nice high risk pick. They have been horrible this season after losing so many key players but face Johnny Football this week and its possible he may turn the ball over multiple times. LOL. Possible.

Kicker

Stephen Gostowski - New England Patriots (DPPG - 11.88)
Opponent- @ HOU

Has had two off games as the Patriots are on a two game losing streak. I don't expect this to continue even against the tough Texans defense. If Gronk sits out again it might be a bit tougher for the Pats to score in the redzone leading to a few extra opportunities for Gostowski.
