Quarterback

Brandon Doughty
There are quite a few ways to go at the quarterback position and all options have their pros and cons. The con with Doughty is the price. The pro is his general awesomeness. WKU appears to be fully healthy for the first time all year as last week was the first time in roughly two months Wales and Higbee played together. There are a ton of expected points in this game and the world knows Doughty can sling the rock, but can you afford him. His price is high enough to make you think twice, but he still offers a solid place to start in what should be the highest scoring game on the board. He’s not a GPP play for the most part, but if you like enough of the other value plays his salary is not totally restrictive.
Tyrone Swoopes
This may not be the best way to go in terms of safety as Texas and their offense have been all over the map this year. Heard was the starter and at times looked like a star in the making and at other times a JUCO want to be. Heard is dealing with some concussion issues and even though he has not been ruled out Swoopes has been named the starter for their matchup against Baylor. Swoopes has had some nice games as the backup and now will have every opportunity to put his talents on display. Baylor are big favorites, but the total is still near 70 so Texas should still produce some points. Swoopes is most productive running the ball and Baylor has shown, think K-State, they could struggle against the versatile Swoopes. High risk high reward play.

Running Back

Larry Rose III
This feels like the stud back who crushes it on the weekly, but people have never heard of him because he plays for some barge fire of a team. New Mexico State may not technically be a barge fire, but they’re not a very good team, play in a weak conference, and rarely play on national television. Rose is an immense talent and offers a high floor and equally high ceiling. His only real dud coming against Ole Miss where State was clearly out classed. Louisiana Monroe is somehow worse than New Mexico State and sports one of the worst rushing defenses in the country. I hope you can smell the roses because this dude will be in every lineup I run cash and GPP alike.
Wendell Smallwood
Hopefully recency bias keeps people away from Smallwood at this terrific price. The guy has basically been the model of consistency having rushed for over 100 and/or scored along with being involved in the passing game. It really didn’t get much safer than Smallwood and then last week happened. Smallwood has his worst outing of the year failing to score or rush for 100 yards, but that’s okay because it has kept his price in check. We really shouldn’t let one week sway us from a guy who has otherwise been an outstanding cash play all year. Kansas State isn’t exactly a cupcake matchup, but they haven’t been stellar so Wendell should get back to his usual ways.

Wide Receiver

Taywan Taylor
Taylor has calmed down a bit and the return of Higbee could certainly cut into his targets, but Taylor is arguably the best cash play at the position. Taylor has scored in all but one game for the Hilltoppers and is the unquestioned #1 in this high powered offense. Western Kentucky is a touchdown favorite against a offensive minded Southern Miss team. Southern MIss has been pouring it on of late and if they can keep things going this is a game you will want exposure too. As his production has slowed has price has come down as well keeping Taylor squarely in the value territory.
Michael Thomas
Speaking of Southern Miss’ offense, let’s take a look at Mr. Thomas. Thomas has been a stud for the Golden Eagles and has quite consistent in the scoring category with touchdowns in all but two games. Thomas has also surpassed 100 yards receiving in all but three games. Pairing Taylor and Thomas is an excellent place to start with your receiving group. The total for this game is in the mid 70’s and that could prove to be a conservative number. You will definitely want exposure to this game and with current pricing these two stand to offer great value at reasonable prices. Thomas’ teammate, Casey Martin, can be considered as well.

Tight End

Tyler Higbee
Higbee is one of the few tight ends worth spending the extra dollars on. As we saw in his first game back after an extended absence what he is able to bring to the table. Higbee recorded 6 catches for 92 yards and 2 scores. Thats insane production from an otherwise dead position. It’s hard to expect multiple touchdowns from most positions, but especially tight ends. Nevertheless you can Higbee to contribute to what I see as a high scoring contest.
