Welcome to the daily fantasy hockey picks article for DraftKings and FanDuel for Tuesday, November 3, 2015. We are now a few weeks into the season and most teams have played around 8 games so far. There are some advanced stats that I am going to start to incorporate into my analysis each night and I want to go over what the stat is and how it can be predictive in fantasy hockey.

The first stat I am going to start using is iCorsi/60 or CF/60. Corsi has been used in hockey as a proxy for puck possession as their currently is no metric available to track a player or teams actual possession time. The NHL has tested technology that will soon be incorporated but for now Corsi will have to do. It measures a player or teams shot attempts during a game. A Corsi event during a game can be 1 of 3 things. A shot on net, a shot that misses the net, and a shot that is blocked. On the team level it is measured as Corsi For and Corsi Against or more commonly as CF%(Corsi For/(Corsi Frr + Corsi Against)). For team purposes we are looking for teams above 50%. On the player level we will be using CF/60 which gives us a look into how much an individual player is attempting shots. We are looking for players who are attempting above average(approx. 10 CF/60) Corsi events per 60 minutes of ice time.

Lets now take a look into Tuesday nights matchups using these advanced metrics to help us find some values and high end plays that will help us cash on DraftKings and FanDuel.

GOALIES

Martin Jones - San Jose Sharks vs. CBJ *PROBABLE*
DraftKings - $7,300 FanDuel - $7,700
He has gone 6-3 to start the season with a .932 save percentage and has picked up 2 shutouts. For daily fantasy purposes his salary remains in the middle tier and making him a great play in any format. The Sharks are at home Tuesday vs. the Blue Jackets who are ranked 27th in the league in scoring.

Jake Allen - St. Louis Blues vs. LA *CONFIRMED*
DraftKings - $7,400 FanDuel - $9,400
He will be making his 4th start in a row and seems to have taken over as the Blues #1 goalie. In his last 3 starts he has 3 wins and only allowed 3 goals. He is 4-2 on the year with a .929 save percentage with 1 shutout. I like the spot the Blues are in on Tuesday vs. the Kings who are playing in back to back games and a 3rd game in 4 nights.

Also Consider - Henrik Lundqvist - New York Rangers vs. WSH

 

CENTER

Tyler Seguin - Dallas Stars @ BOS
DraftKings - $8,500 FanDuel - $8,600
If you are paying up for Center tonight, Seguin is the top option, especially on FanDuel where is the 3rd ranked in salary. He and Jamie Benn sit atop the league in points in the first 12 games and have quickly become the most dangerous duo in the league. The Stars travel to Boston to play the Bruins who have won 4 straight games but are an ugly 1-3-1 at home to start the year.

Connor McDavid - Edmonton Oilers vs. PHI
DraftKings - $5,700 FanDuel - $7,000
The point streak ended at 7 games on Saturday vs. the Flames. Look for another streak to start on Tuesday in a home matchup vs. Flyers. The Oilers are starting a goalie that has close to a 4.92 GAA to start the year and are still favorites in the game. I am expecting the game to go over the total on Tuesday producing fantasy points for lots of players. The Flyers take lots of penalties and McDavid and the Oilers should get plenty of powerplay time in this one.

WINGERS

Jamie Benn - Dallas Stars @ BOS
DraftKings - $8,000 FanDuel(LW) - $9,400
I have to keep putting Benn and Seguin in picks until they slow down or the price gets to high. Neither has happened yet so get Benn in you lineups Tuesday. Boston has definitely improved after a slow start with four wins in a row but have not played well at home and this should be a high scoring game.

Joe Pavelski - San Jose Sharks vs. CBJ
DraftKings(C) - $7,200 FanDuel(RW) - $8,100
Great value on both sites and has goals in 4 straight games. There is a very good chance that streak continues Tuesday vs. the Blue Jackets who are allowing 3.83 goals per game. Great play in any format.

Brett Connolly - Bosto Bruins vs. DAL
DraftKings - $3,100 FanDuel(RW) - $4,500
He is my top value play for Tuesday. He comes in at a very low cost and leaves room to fit multiple top options tonight. He is playing on a line with Marchand and Bergeron and the Bruins are the NHL's top scoring offense to start the year. He is riding a 6 game point streak in a game that has a good shot to reach the Over.

Also Consider - Sam Gagner - Philadelphia Flyers @ EDM

DEFENSE

Brent Burns - San Jose Sharks vs. CBJ
DraftKings - $6,400 FanDuel - $7,000
Top option on the point Tuesday vs. the leagues second worst defensive team. He is averaging 19.5 CF/60 and has five points in his last four games. He has a solid floor for cash games with the high amount of shots and has multi point upside for a D man.

Jake Muzzin - Los Angeles Kings
DraftKings - $4,400 FanDuel - $5,000
A nice value at defense on both sites and can be used in any format. He has points in his last three games and also presents a high floor with blocked shots for DK and PP time on FD.
