Welcome to the Week 8 DFS NFL picks article for Draftpot, a brand new way to play fantasy sports. Draftpot is similar to other DFS sites except there is no salary cap restrictions. They offer two separate game types(Fan Mode/GM Mode). For NFL, Fan Mode allows you to build a roster of 1 QB,2 RB,3 WR,1 TE,2 FLEX,1 K,1 DEF without salary restrictions. You can roster anyone you want. In GM Mode, you also roster the same positions but have a Drafpot Points Per Game(DPPG) cap. Each player have a PPG value attached to their name which is a reflection of their previous 16 games played. This gives a more transparent look at player value.

When making my picks I will be looking at a multitude of information (Vegas lines, totals and player props, targets, defensive matchups, injuries, offensive line rankings and of course DPPG) to break down all the players in the pool to provide you with the best analysis possible for the slate at hand.
If you missed out on Week 7 at DraftPot, you missed out on a large amount of overlay. Don't worry though. They are doing it again this week with their $12 entry, $100,000 Guarantee Touchdown Fan Mode tournament. It pays $10,000 to first and is bound to have more overlay again this weekend. Get in on the action while there is still time.
To win a tournament in Fan Mode you won't be able to just pick the top players at their positions each week. You will need to differentiate yourself with some low ownership picks. One way I love doing this is picking good players who are coming off a bad to horrible week. Recency bias plays a huge part in daily fantasy and is something we can use to our advantage to gain an edge on the field in large field GPP tournaments. I feel there is a tremendous opportunity for this here in week 2 with the number of poor performances by top players last week.
Philip Rivers - San Diego Chargers @ BAL (DPPG - 19.58)
The NFL passing leader gets a matchup on the road in Baltimore vs. a Ravens team allowing the most fantasy points to quarterbacks in the league. They are allowing an average of 300 yards passing and 1.9 TD's per game. The Chargers got Stevie Johnson back last week from injury and as he gets healthier and back in tune with Rivers the offense should be even more explosive.
Jameis Winston - Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ ATL (DPPG - 16.23)
He makes a nice GPP option this week as his ownership should be fairly low this week. Since throwing 4 interceptions 3 weeks ago he has gone back to back weeks throwing zero. He has started to get in tune with Mike Evans and this could mean many TD's in between the tow coming real soon. The pair are one of the top stacking combos of the week.
Also Consider: Cam Newton - Carolina Panthers vs. IND(21.10 DPPG)
Justin Forsett - Baltimore Ravens vs. SD (DPPG - 15.30)
He has been extremely consistent in the last four weeks with either 100 total yards or TD in each game. He now enters a matchup at home vs. a Chargers team right near the bottom of the league in fantasy points allowed to running backs. He will be safe in all formats.
Todd Gurley - St. Louis Rams vs. SF (DPPG - 11.45)
A must play every week until he proves otherwise. In fan mode he will be extremely high owned but do you want to be the 10-20% who misses out on another 100 yard game? In GM mode he is still on 11.45 DPPG and easily the top RB play of the week. The 49ers have given up over 100 yards and 1 TD per game to running backs.
Also Consider: Jeremy Hill - Cincinnati Bengals @ PIT (14.22 DPPG)
Keenan Allen - San Diego Chargers @ BAL (17.28 DPPG)
If you are playing Rivers this week you will need to play Allen as well. He is the 3rd most targeted WR in the NFL(84) and has 62 receptions for 690 yards and 3 touchdowns. A great matchup vs the Ravens who are in the bottom of the league in fantasy points allowed to wide receivers.
Antonio Brown - Pittsburgh Steelers vs. CIN (21.67 DPPG)
Only use if Ben Roethlisberger is back this week. Since Big Ben got injured Brown has fallen off the face of the fantasy world. He runs precise routes and Ben knows how to lead him and find him in the tight spaces. If Ben is back this week, and it sounds positive, he will bring Brown back into relevance at which should be low ownership due to recency bias. If Ben is out pivot off Brown and go to Martavis Bryant.
Also Consider: TY Hilton - Indianapolis Colts @ CAR (DPPG 16.83)
Tyler Eifert - Cincinnati Bengals @ PIT (DPPG - 9.93)
The Bengals travel to Pittsburgh in what could be a potential high scoring game. Eifert has scored double digit points in 4 of the 5 games he has played this year and makes a nice option in any format this week. The Steelers are a great matchup allowing the 3rd most fantasy points to TE's on the season.
Gary Barnidge - Cleveland Browns vs. ARI (DPPG - 8.29)
He has come out of nowhere this season to be one of the top TE options week in and week out. He now has put up double digit fantasy points in 5 straight games for the Browns. It is a tough matchup vs the Cardinals but with the volume of targets he is receiving he will have his opportunities to score points.
Also Consider - Greg Olsen - Carolina Panthers vs. IND (DPPG - 13.32)
St. Louis Rams vs. SF (DPPG - 11.94)
Had a great week last week with 25 DraftPot points. They enter another nice matchup this week vs. the 49ers and Colin Kaepernik who takes multiple sacks and turns the ball over a ton.
Houston Texans (DPPG - 7.81)
The Texans defense has been up and down this year but carry a big upside with JJ Watt capable of multiple sacks all by himself. If they can create a pass rush Sunday they are also capable of forcing interceptions and fumbles vs. the Titans.
Matt Bryant - Atlanta Falcons vs. TB (DPPG - 10.38)
A kicker at home in a dome in a high scoring game. Enough said.
Josh Brown - New York Giants @ NO (DPPG - 11.13)
On the road this week but travelling to New Orleans in another potential high scoring game. The Giants have been awful in the red zone giving Brown plenty of opportunities for field goals.
