Welcome to the daily fantasy hockey picks article for DraftKings and FanDuel for Fridday, October 30, 2015. We are now a few weeks into the season and most teams have played around 8 games so far. There are some advanced stats that I am going to start to incorporate into my analysis each night and I want to go over what the stat is and how it can be predictive in fantasy hockey.
The first stat I am going to start using is iCorsi/60 or CF/60. Corsi has been used in hockey as a proxy for puck possession as their currently is no metric available to track a player or teams actual possession time. The NHL has tested technology that will soon be incorporated but for now Corsi will have to do. It measures a player or teams shot attempts during a game. A Corsi event during a game can be 1 of 3 things. A shot on net, a shot that misses the net, and a shot that is blocked. On the team level it is measured as Corsi For and Corsi Against or more commonly as CF%(Corsi For/(Corsi Frr + Corsi Against)). For team purposes we are looking for teams above 50%. On the player level we will be using CF/60 which gives us a look into how much an individual player is attempting shots. We are looking for players who are attempting above average(approx. 10 CF/60) Corsi events per 60 minutes of ice time.
Lets now take a look in Friday nights matchups using these advanced metrics to help us find some values and high end plays that will help us cash on DraftKings and FanDuel.
GOALIES
Braden Holtby - Washington Capitals vs. CBJ *PROBABLE*
DraftKings - $8,000 FanDuel - $9,400
The Capitals are the 2nd biggest favorite on Friday at home to the Blue Jackets. It is a nice matchup for Holtby as the Jackets are scoring just over 2 goals per game and Holtby is sitting with a .917 save % to start the year. The Caps will be in a good spot for a win and Holtby should be the recipient of a nice fantasy outing.
Michal Neuvirth - Philadelphia Flyers @ BUF *PROBABLE*
DraftKings - N/A FanDuel - $8,100
For some reason he is only available on FanDuel tonight and comes in at a nice discount from the top options. The Flyers give up over 30 shots per game and Neuverth has started the year 2-0 with a .947 save percentage. The Flyers are -135 road favorites in Buffalo and Neuverth should be safe in all formats.
Also Consider - Tukka Rask - Boston Bruins @ FLA
CENTER
Claude Giroux - Philadelphia Flyers
DraftKings - $6,800 FanDuel - $7,900
He is averaging over 18 CF/60 and it is starting to show in his production. The Flyers are starting to play better hockey under their new head coach and the offense flows through Giroux. He is getting over 20 min of ice time per game and is the #1 option on the powerplay. He will cost you tonight but should have no problem paying off the salary.
Patrice Bergeron - Boston Bruins @ FLA
DraftKings - $6,000 FanDuel - $7,000
He has outplayed his salary in all but one game this year and has 7 points in his last 4 games. He averages about 14.9 CF/60 and plays around 20 min a game. Lock him in as long as his salary stays this low.
Also Consider Jack Eichel - Buffalo Sabres

WINGERS
Patrick Kane - Chicago Blackhawks @ MIN
DraftKings - $7,800 FanDuel(RW) - $8,400
He is still under priced on both sites for the production he gives you night in and night out. He has 12 points in 9 games with a +5 rating and is attempting over 17 CF/60. His opponent, the Wild, are giving up close to 3 goals a game. We could be in for a high scoring game Friday.
Rick Nash - New York Rangers vs. TOR
DraftKings - $6,900 FanDuel(LW) - $8,200
The Rangers are the biggest favorites on the board Friday night against a Leafs team giving up 3.3 goals per game to opponents. Nash has been quiet the last couple games but is capable of a multi point game any night. He is averaging just over 21 CF/60(13th in NHL) so we should see the goals come very soon.
Brendan Gallagher - Montreal Canadiens @ CGY
DraftKings - $5,400 FanDuel(RW) - $5,500
He is cheap way to get exposure to the Habs top line of Pacioretty and Plekanec. He has 9 points in 10 games and an eye popping +8 rating. He gets time on the PP as well and carries a nice floor to go along with a high ceiling vs. the Flames.
Also Consider - T.J. Oshie - Washington Capitals
DEFENSE
John Carlson - Washignton Capitals vs. CBJ
DraftKings - $6,400 FanDuel - $5,800
Has been a very consistent option for a high scoring Capitals team. He is playing over 24 minutes a game and a ton of minutes on the PP. He is averaging around 4.5 DK & FD points per game. If you are paying up for a D man Friday night he makes a great choice.
Erik Johnson - Colorado Avalanche @ CAR
He will be a DraftKings only play as the offense has been dry from Johnson to start the year. He does make a nice low end cash game play as he is averaging 13 CF/60 and close to 2.5 blocks per game.
Also Consider - P.K. Subban - Montreal Canadiens
