    Quarterback

    Matt Davis

Love me Matt Davis against Tulsa. If I could play him twice I would and I wrote to FanDuel complaining he was not part of their early slate. Davis is basically a lesser Greg Ward Jr. and is the perfect fit for cash games. The ability to pass, but most dangerous on the ground. SMU has been able to score most weeks this year with only a couple down games sprinkled in. I don’t view a home game against Tulsa as one the Mustangs, or Davis I should say, will struggle to move the ball. Tulsa hasn’t been particularly strong on defense and were shredded by the aforementioned Greg Ward Jr. SMU is a small home dog getting 3, but what has me salivating is the 77 total. A close game with a bunch of points is always a nice scenario to pluck players from, but I feel it’s an especially nice scenario for guys like Davis. Davis has been involved in 20 of the 26 or 77% of the offensive touchdowns the Mustangs have scored this season. SMU is projected for 37 team points. You can do the math, but it translates to major opportunity for Davis.

    Brandon Doughty
I hate spending this kind of dough on a pure passer and especially in a game where Doughty plays as a 24 point favorite, but the other solid options aren’t much cheaper. There is also evidence to suggest blowouts shouldn’t scare you off stud players like Doughty. WKU is projected for roughly 45 team points and in an offense that starts with Doughty I would have to imagine he will do plenty of damage before possibly giving way to the backups. There are a couple other ways to go, but there are few big money options as safe as Doughty given the matchup. Starting your cash lineups with this guy is a solid place to start albeit an expensive one.

    Running Back

    Akrum Wadley

Wadley has already been named the starter for this week’s matchup against Maryland even though Daniels Jr. is healthy. Wadley’s performance last week and the early announcement provides all the evidence I need to feel Wadley will get the bulk of the carries. Last week Canzeri went down with an injury and in stepped Wadley against a stout Northwestern run defense. Considering he ripped off 204 yards and 4 touchdowns. Impressive to say the least. I liked Saquon Barkley last week against this Terp defense and even though he scored his overall line was underwhelming. I am going to allow myself to speculate that Barkley’s ankle still isn’t 100% resulting in an unusually low YPC and poor game. Wadley doesn’t have any ailments, but all his backups do. I still believe Maryland has a soft defense setting up an encore performance for Wadley.

    Anthony Wales
You have to love college football. One day the coach says it’s going to be a while and the next day he says the guy will be ready to play. Perkins still could miss the game keeping Jamabo in play, but for now we shall pivot. In a vacuum I don’t love Wales at this price. It’s hard to trust a running back in a passing offense, especially one that has plenty of talented receivers. Wales could have a huge game as he did a couple games back, but most likely he will finish with a modest line. I like pairing Wales with Doughty together in order to capture most, if not all, of WKU’s scoring. Think of him as an insurance policy on your stud QB.

    Wide Receiver

    Keyarris Garrett
    Joshua Atkinson

Last week was what the DFS world was expecting from the 6’4” receiver after Keevan Lucas was lost for the year due to injury. After two subpar performances in Lucas’ absence Garrett exploded to the tune of 14 receptions for 268 yards and 3 scores. Say whaaaa. That’s the kind of performance that automatically puts you above the money line in cash games. I’m not saying he will repeat last week’s gaudy totals, but man does this game have the ingredients. Even though Atkinson has been the better receiver over the last month I feel he may be quickly forgotten after Garrett’s monster. I’m here to tell you not to sleep on Atkinson. The potential is there and he could easily steal the show. The reality both guys are quality plays in a game where Tulsa is a 3pt road favorite with a game total in the upper 70’s. I prefer to pair these two together to guard against an uneven split in production and considering Tulsa’s ground game is in flux they could be in store for a larger split in distribution.

    Taywan Taylor
Taylor is one of best wideouts on the board and is priced as such. Treadwell and JuJu are great options in their own right, but Doughty to Double T works like a 7 on 7 drill when facing teams like Old Dominion. The Hilltoppers are expected to cruise in this one and I suspect they will which is why I like Taylor. In previous weeks when WKU faced off against North Texas and Middle Tennessee State Taylor dominated combining for 254 yards with 5 touchdowns. There really isn’t much question to Taylor’s talent, but if will have the opportunity to hit value at this lofty tag. Past performance does not guarantee future results and even though we’re not reading a mutual fund prospectus the same theory applies to sports. I have no doubt WKU will score plenty of points so it makes sense to roster their best offensive weapon.

    Tight End

    DeAndre Goolsby
Tight end is a disaster, as always. I’m looking to spend as little as possible once again. It’s Halloween. Dude’s last name seems like a perfect fit for Halloween football. Grab a pumpkin latte and some candy and call it a wrap. We good?
