Trevone Boykin
I thought about giving Tyler Jones the nod over Boykin considering he is 40% cheaper on FanDuel and 52% less expensive on Draftkings. I will run Jones and I will look to pair him with Boykin on Draftkings, but when it comes to safety there’s not many better than Trevone. He offers literally everything you want from a fantasy quarterback. Boykin appears to be unstoppable and once again finds himself in another matchup expected to be a bit of a track meet. Many of TCU’s have been high scoring due to poor defensive play by the Horned Frogs. To their credit, there have been a slew of injuries the defense has had to deal with throughout the year. West Virginia is a good, but not great team. That being said, they are certainly good enough to score some points in this one. No one is good enough to stop Boykin. He’s expensive, but I think you can do it.
Jeff Driskel
The following night you can spend your winnings on this guy. It’s been several weeks since La. Tech has been an option to choose from and we’re going to make the most of it. To me, Driskel is the clear play Friday night. I think he is a tad over-priced, but Friday is not as deep as Thursday so there is less value at other positions. In other words, he’s money well spent relative to other options. Driskel helms a fairly talented offense expected for roughly 38 points against Rice and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s more. Driskel can get it done on the ground if needed, but with almost 2500 yards passing and 15 touchdowns his passing game has excelled now that he no longer faces SEC defenses playing for Florida. He hasn’t run as often as I thought he would coming into the year, but it has translated to more efficient play and ultimately more fantasy production. Even though he only averages just over 30 yards rushing per game he has added 5 scores on the ground. The options are few and based on pricing this is a good place to start with your cash games.
Darius Jackson
Since I didn’t have the marbles to put Tyler Jones ahead of Boykin I won’t back off my initial thought that Jackson represents the strongest value on the board. Jackson should be a heavy start, but I’m not sure he will be and that will prove to be your gain. Typically running backs slates as underdogs underperform relative to price. It makes sense considering you expect teams playing from behind to pass more and possibly get away from the run. As 21pt underdogs you can expect Eastern Michigan will be playing from behind. Well, at 1-7 they have played from behind in just about every game, but that hasn’t stopped Jackson from piling up 13 total touchdowns. Jackson has gone over 100 yards or scored multiple touchdowns in every game this year against teams not named LSU. The volume is secure. The price is right.
Kenneth Dixon
Even more clear than Driskel is his co-mate, Kenneth Dixon. The running back options are cloudy at best so spending up for Dixon makes perfect sense. The guy is a stud end of story. Pairing him with Driskel puts you in a great position to capture much of the Bulldogs scoring. DIxon also has 3 receiving touchdowns so it’s not entirely out of the question the two connect in this one as well. Dixon missed a couple weeks with an injury, but returned last week and made up for lost time scoring 3 touchdowns against Middle Tennessee State. Tech is a 12 pt road favorite with a total in mid 60’s. Rice can be hit or miss offensively so hopefully they click in this one. Rice doesn’t have the defensive talent to stop Driskel and or Dixon so if they can score some on their own it should create more opportunity for this dynamic duo. I’m starting every lineup with Driskel and Dixon.
Daniel Braverman
Corey Davis
Obviously Josh Doctson is awesome, but his price is sort of in that whoa man he’s expensive range. If you’re playing Boykin it’s basically impossible to also roster Doctson, but you can include one of the two Western Michigan receivers. Last season it was Davis who led the Broncos in receiving, but this year Braverman has taken the lead. The reality is both guys are quality options. If I were to pick between the two it’s clear you need to use Braverman, but Davis is talented enough to steal the show any given week. That considered I prefer pairing them together knowing you will capture an astonishing 76% of quarterback Zach Terrell’s completions. That’s insane. Western Michigan will be bombs away against Eastern Michigan and even though they are heavy favorites there is plenty of scoring expected. Both of these guys should run free Thursday night. Heavy exposure in the battle of the Michigans.
Trent Taylor
Keeping with the Louisiana Tech theme song I will also stack Taylor with Driskel and Dixon. Receiver is no exception on your FRiday slate and also offers few quality options. Taylor is the primary target for Driskel and he should have little trouble getting open against Rice. Taylor is the big play and volume receiver making him an exceptionally strong cash game option. I would consider him in the same league as Braverman or Doctson, but within this slate he’s the clear leader at the position. I expect he, along with the other Bulldogs will all be heavy starts. Go with crowd on this one.
Cam Serigne
Thursday night you are basically on your own for tight end, but I suggest spending the minimum at the position. I will utilize Scott Orndoff, but I cannot promise he records a stat. Friday is a different story as there is clearly one turd with a bit more polish than the rest. Cam won’t light the world on fire and I can’t say he will play on Sundays, but he is involved in the offense on a weekly basis which is more than I can say for most of your other options. He’s the best of the worst.
