Daily Fantasy NFL Picks for Draftpot - Week Five
Welcome to the Week 5 DFS NFL picks article for Draftpot, a brand new way to play fantasy sports. Draftpot is similar to other DFS sites except there is no salary cap restrictions. They offer two separate game types(Fan Mode/GM Mode). For NFL, Fan Mode allows you to build a roster of 1 QB,2 RB,3 WR,1 TE,2 FLEX,1 K,1 DEF without salary restrictions. You can roster anyone you want. In GM Mode, you also roster the same positions but have a Drafpot Points Per Game(DPPG) cap. Each player have a PPG value attached to their name which is a reflection of their previous 16 games played. This gives a more transparent look at player value.

When making my picks I will be looking at a multitude of information (Vegas lines, totals and player props, targets, defensive matchups, injuries, offensive line rankings and of course DPPG) to break down all the players in the pool to provide you with the best analysis possible for the slate at hand.
If you missed out on Week 3 at DraftPot, you missed out on a large amount of overlay. Don't worry though. They are doing it again this week with their $10 entry, $100,000 Guarantee Touchdown Fan Mode tournament. It pays $10,000 to first and is bound to have more overlay again this weekend. Get in on the action while there is still time.
To win a tournament in Fan Mode you won't be able to just pick the top players at their positions each week. You will need to differentiate yourself with some low ownership picks. One way I love doing this is picking good players who are coming off a bad to horrible week. Recency bias plays a huge part in daily fantasy and is something we can use to our advantage to gain an edge on the field in large field GPP tournaments. I feel there is a tremendous opportunity for this here in week 2 with the number of poor performances by top players last week.
Remember, in a mode like DraftPot you will need some separation from the field. Players who stand to produce big games that give you a chance to break from the pack some.
Quarterbacks
Tom Brady - New England Patriots @ DAL (DPPG - 21.61)
The Patriots come in as 8.5 point favorites for this matchup and have the highest team total on the slate at 29 points. After a bye week you can be sure they will be ready to face the Cowboys in Jerry World. Brady has thrown for 9 of the Patriots 14 total Touchdowns on the year. Even when the Patriots have been leading they are still throwing the ball down opponents throats. Brady makes an excellent play in both Fan Mode and GM Mode.
Sam Bradford - Philadelphia Eagles vs. NO (DPPG - 17.68)
Bradford makes a great play in GPP formats this week as he has been inconsistent to start the year. He will be at home vs. the Saints who are near dead last in fantasy points allowed to Quarterbacks. The Eagles are 2.5 point favorites and have a team total of 27 points. With a run game that hasn't produced to expected levels it looks like it will have to be Bradford again who takes the reins on this Chip Kelly offense.
Also Consider: Tyrod Taylor - Buffalo Bills @ TEN(8.35 DPPG)
Running Backs
Jamaal Charles - Kansas City Chiefs vs. CHI (DPPG - 19.42)
He has scored more than 20 DraftPot points in every game so far and there is no reason for that to stop vs. the Bears at home on Sunday. The Chiefs are 10 point favorites and have the 3rd highest team total(27.5) this weekend. Charles should be heavily involved in the offense this weekend and makes a great fantasy play.
Justin Forsett - Baltimore Ravens vs. CLE (DPPG - 14.41)
He broke out last week for 150 rushing yards and scored 15 DraftPot points. He did this without a TD and 0 receptions. This week he goes against a Browns defense in the bottom of the league in fantasy points allowed to running backs. The Ravens will be at home after their first win of the season and come in as 6.5 point favorites. Look for Forsett to be heavily involved again this week and has the upside to reach 20+ fantasy points if he can reach the endzone.
Also Consider: LeGarrett Blount - New England Patriots @ DAL (6.47 DPPG)
Wide Receivers
Julio Jones - Atlanta Falcons vs. WAS (21.39 DPPG)
He let us down last week with a 4 catch, 38 yard effort. Don't expect this to happen two weeks in a row. The Falcons used Devonta Freeman to tear up the Texans defense and didn't really need to throw. This was probably a good thing for Julio as he has been a bit banged up lately. With Washington being the top ranked defense against the run this season, the Falcons should be back to their old tricks in targeting Julio 10+ times. Recency bias might limit the ownership this week making a great buy ow opportunity.
Martavis Bryant - Pittsburg Steelers @ SD (9.29 DPPG)
He is back after a four game suspension and will be looking to jump back up the depth chart. He is a deep threat that could see multiple shots this week from backup QB Vick. If he can haul in just one of those for a long TD he will more than payoff as his ownership should be super low.
Also Consider: John Brown - Arizona Cardinals @DET (DPPG 9.73
Tight Ends
Travis Kelce - Kansas City Chiefs vs. CHI (DPPG - 12.84)
The Bears have been a top 10 defense against the TE so far in 2015 but that doesn't scare me off Kelce this week. He exploded in week 1 but has been fairly quiet since. The Chiefs are 10 point favorites with a team total of 27.5. Look for Kelce to get back on track with plenty of targets and a possible monster game Sunday.
Antonio Gates - San Diego Chargers vs. PIT (DPPG - 10.41)
Another player coming off suspension this week. He will be looking to continue the chemistry he has had for many year with Rivers. Most people are hesitant on players in their first game back form injury or suspension so this is a great time to get some shares of Gates at a lower ownership. The Steelers are near last in fantasy points allowed to tight ends so Gates should be able to take advantage.
Also Consider - Tyler Eifert - Cincinnati Bengals vs. SEA (DPPG - 8.16)
Defenses
Denver Broncos @ OAK (DPPG - 9.00)
They have been the best defense in the league to this point and have a favorable matchup on Sunday vs the Raiders. The Broncos have put up double digit points in all four games so far this year and have 17 sacks and 6 interceptions. Derek Carr and Co. should be in for a ride against the Broncos.
Green Bay Packers vs. STL (DPPG - 9.63)
They have shown a great pass rush so far this year and have racked up 17 sacks to date. They have also had a interception in each of their first four games. The matchup against a poor Rams team that could fall behind early. This would be a great recipe for the packers to again turn up the pressure and create some turnovers.
Kickers
Justin Tucker - Baltimore Ravens vs. CLE (DPPG - 11.31)
He is one of the best kickers i the NFL and has a big leg. The Ravens have a team total of 24.5 and rank as one of the worst red zone offenses in the league. This should give Tucker plenty of opportunities to rack up the fantasy points. He has the upside to be the highest scoring kicker on Sunday.
Stephen Gostowski - New England Patriots @ DAL (DPPG - 12.38)
Everyones favorite kicker. The Patriots play very aggressively and move the ball better than anyone in the league. The Patriots have the highest team total on the board meaning Gostowski should get plenty of opportunities to for XP's FG's.
