The daily fantasy college football season trucks along. There've been huge performances, some upsets, some should-have-upsets and we are just starting to get an idea of who the true standouts will be this season. We've got you covered for this Thursday-Friday slate.
We're also selling lineups and cheatsheets for every CFB slate. This week they include 2 DraftKings and 2 FanDuel lineups along with a cheatsheet of write ups on a number of different players. They are $5 and are separate from our membership subscription. This season our 12 of our 13 FanDuel lineups have moneyed in cash games, and one won the FanDuel Redshirt tournament. Meanwhile 75% of our DraftKings lineups have hit in cash games. Don't miss out.
DeShaun Watson
Watson burst on the scene last year and quickly became a household name until an injury cut his season short. Through two games Watson has thrown for 442 yards and 5 touchdowns. That’s hardly the Tecmo Bowl-type stats he’s capable of putting up, but when you play Wofford and Appalachian State your coach tends to take the foot off the gas. Now they travel to meet up with Louisville as 6pt road favorites. The crowd is bound to be raucous when Watson & Co. take the field Thursday night and I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets off to a slow start. I see Watson having to do more with his feet compared to the first two games and I also expect Clemson to keep the throttle high until the final whistle. He will be a favorite play, but on a short slate don’t against the grain with this guy. He's the best quarterback going on in this mini-slate and it's a tough proposition thinking about fading him.
Dalvin Cook
Whoa buddy. Did you see what this cat did last week? How about a 30/266/3 stat line? Cook was a man possessed and single handedly dominated the game. Golson and the passing game were a little out of sync and in stepped Cook to lift the Seminoles to 2-0. This is a short slate and Cook comes with a hefty price tag, but it stands to reason you need to figure out a way to get him in your lineups. If he goes off like he did last week and you opted to save the dough it’s very unlikely you will be able to make up enough ground to finish in the money. There are literally zero questions surrounding Cook, something you cannot say about any other back on the slate. Dalvin is averaging an eye-popping 8.6 YPC on the year and he stands to see roughly 25-30 carries in this game. Do the math.
Artavis Scott
Scott was already stride for stride with Mike Williams as Clemson’s top wide out, but now that Williams is out with a neck injury Scott becomes option 1 and 2 for Watson. Clemson opened the year with two cream puff matchups in Wofford and Appalachian State and promptly won both in blowout fashion. Now they head to Louisville, who is likely the best 0-2 team in the nation. This has the potential to be a tough spot for Clemson. They are clearly the better team, but an 0-2 team at home on national television is a recipe for anything to happen. Watson is the best passer on the slate and the best passer Louisville has seen all year as well. Scott is averaging 6/74/1 through two games so now that Clemson faces a real opponent Scott will be called upon most of the game. Even in the face of a tougher matchup I think his volume will be more than enough for Scott to come away as the top WR on the night.
DJ Foster
Foster has moved from running back to wide receiver, but he is still the most electric player on offense for the Sun Devils. I like Scott above more than Foster on a points per dollar basis, but Foster may have a slightly better matchup all things considered. Arizona State is a 28pt favorite with a total around 65 so even though Vegas is calling for the rout there should still be plenty of scoring to go around. The key here is distribution of touches. Foster and running back Demario Richard far and away dominate the volume for ASU. Blowouts can be risky, but when the team has lopsided distribution it stands to reason said players are somewhat immune to blowouts. Foster will be heavily involved in the offense regardless of game flow.
Jordan Leggett
Here’s the deal with tight end; it’s really ugly. Leggett has the best QB throwing to him on the slate and that’s probably enough to put him above the others. I would not spend up for Crum. He is coming off a huge game which has caused his price to far exceed his expectation. Here’s to hoping your tight end falls on a fumble in the end zone.
