Ty Lawson - FD 7400 DK 6800 DFSTR
Been off many a radar of late thanks to some DNP's because the Nuggets appear to be in semi-tank mode. But when Lawson does play he's getting some major minutes. That's good news against a Magic team that has allowed higher than average production to opposing point guards this season. Lawson can turn into an assist machine in the right matchup and this could be it. Payton is a decent defender from a quickness standpoint, but the pace of this game should favor Lawson.
Rajon Rondo - FD 5900 DK 5900 DFSTR 5300
Doesn't feel fantastic recommending this guy in the second spot, especially when point guard is typically a loaded position. But Rondo's stepped up his game lately and will face a Suns' team that ranks third in PACE on this season. That means a load of possessions from the opposing point guard. Plus, take away a bunch of JJ Barea's minutes and I think you see more Rondo in this one.
Our projection system actually doesn't adore him at these prices, but it's hard to ignore what Elfrid Payton has done of late. System does like Reggie Jackson as well.
Randy Foye - FD 4800 DK 4800 DFSTR 3300
Foye has been playing fairly steady minutes in the Denver rotation since Shaw left town and has been mildly productive in the two slot. The big news here is that Orlando, while feisty, doesn't offer a ton of defensive resistance even with Oladipo providing some decent individual D. Foye gets up double digit shots a game and hoists them up mostly from beyond the arc. If he gets hot, he'll crush this price and I think the volume should more than be there in this matchup.
Bradley Beal - FD 5800 DK 5800 DFSTR 5500
Because the Wizards don't seem concerned that Beal's injuries are related to his minutes (which they may not be, but whatever) they continue to run him out for huge amounts of time each game. He still pushes up against 40 minutes on a night basis. A slight difference in his recent game is that he hasn't gotten up as many shots. That has depressed his value some because scoring is his primary function. But still a nice value on the day considering the minutes.
Our system think you can strongly consider Evan Turner with Marcus Smart suspended.
Fair warning: this position is full of question marks going in. There could be some interesting things that open up during the day and some dudes appear interesting if things break right. But it's tough to know right now exactly what will happen. I'm going to highlight a couple of guys to consider here and then update later in the day if news hits.
P.J. Tucker - FD 5400 DK 5300 DFSTR 4400
He is one of the few guys I'm willing to trust at this position. His role has definitely expanded with the Suns being gutted in the back court and the minutes spreading back around to Tucker in the three. He is getting his minutes on lock and the shot attempts per game have seen a decent uptick. That second piece is a big reason for his recent success and I suspect it continues with the current state of the Suns.
Tobias Harris - FD 6500 DK 6800 DFSTR
Maurice Harkless - FD 3700 DK 4400 DFSTR 3000
Harris sat last game and the Magic have been less than forthcoming with injury news in the past. Harkless started last game and was pretty ineffective even with the minutes last game. I'd be willing to explore him again if he started for Harris, but there is risk involved. Harris though, if he starts, has a great matchup against the Nuggets. Harkless could also still start with Harris though I don't see that as necessarily a sure thing. This is all to say, read up on this later in the day.
Chase Budinger - FD 4200 DK 3700 DFSTR 3000
He's seen some more run lately with the T-Wolves injury woes. Not willing to call him a lock, but coming off the bench he played crunch time against the Knicks the other day. If the T-Wolves are shorthanded again keep an eye on this blonde beauty.
Consider Chandler Parsons
Kenneth Faried - FD 7200 DK 7200 DFSTR 5600
I've been loving me some Manimal lately and there's a reason so many of today's picks come from one game on this slate. The Magic have been brutal against opposing power forwards this season, allowing 6% more scoring than league average to the position. Faried, when he plays, has been getting the steady run that gets us feeling all warm and fuzzy. Finally getting paid back for all the heartache Shaw caused early in the year. And making up for lost time, Faried should be a solid play today.
Marcus Morris - FD 5200 DK 5000 DFSTR 3800
He's another benefactor of Brandon Knight getting injured as he's taken the court with everyone on the Suns sort of shifting around. One of the hardest guys to root for because you often don't know if it's his or his brother in the moment (at least it's an issue I have watching) but when it all comes out in the wash, he's been making the most of his opportunity. Power forward is a tough one tonight. As long as he's in the starting lineup, he's a top play.
Nene Hilario - FD 4700 DK 4400 DFSTR 4800
The Wiz always make me a little nervous and I only wish Nene played just a few more minutes. But he's an interesting play against a weaker Kings' frontcourt.
Our projection system thinks you can take chances on Brandon Bass, Channing Frye (if he starts)
Gorgui Dieng - FD 6700 DK 6400 DFSTR 5500
Nikola Pekovic was born with the word "questionable" on his birth certificate, which seems to be a self-fulfilling prophecy at this point. He's a question mark every game. At the time of this post I'm assuming dude isn't playing again and that Gorgui Dieng will get a full run of minutes again. Obviously keep an eye on this situation leading into lock, but Dieng with enough run is a solid play at this price. Isn't the safest dude in the whole world, but Charlotte is just about league average against centers.
Al Jefferson - FD 7900 DK 6800 DFSTR 7600
On this flip side of things, Minnesota and Dieng aren't exactly defensive stalwarts against big men. Jefferson is an offense-first guy that should be able to do work on an undersized T-Wolves frontcourt. I don't feel super great about this play considering the dollars, but Al Jeff has come down in price over the short term.
Marcin Gortat - FD 6600 DK 6300 DFSTR 6100
This is mostly figuring that Boogie will be sitting. The Kings take a big defensive hit with Cousins off the court and Marcin has hints of upside if he's working without much opposition on the blocks.
