Bargain Bin Specials
Ryan Lindley - 3000
Michael Floyd - 3600
Josh Harris - 3000
The Lindley/Floyd stack is more than a little interesting to me. Floyd's received 20 targets in the last 2 weeks, and last week he and Lindley actually hooked up for some serious damage - 153 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Cardinals are sort of out of offensive options here, and this might be their only chance to keep up iwth the resurgent Panthes offense.
As for Harris - he's basically a free player that will allow you to spend up at other positions - crucial in such a short slate. He may have more talent than his YPC suggests. He's been used primarily in short yardage situations, and flexed a little bit of upside with the big run that was called back by an off-run holding penalty. Looks like a must play on these prices.
Quarterback
Matthew Stafford - 5900.
Check out his write-up in the main picks article. Like him even more on Draftster due to the serious price separation between him, Cam, and Ben.
Joe Flacco - 5100.
The Draftster price on Flacco is so low that he warrants more consideration than on other sites. Consider that he's fully $3,400 cheaper than Roethlisberger, for instance, but projected for just 2 fewer points in our projection system. Flacco lacks the raw point upside of other QBs this week, but if you wind up wanting to spend at a premium position (like WR, for instance), this is where you could save.
Running Backs
We wrote up Jeremy Hill and Justin Forsett in our main picks article. They're good plays here as well.
But pretty much everyone on Draftster will be playing:
Demarco Murray - 5900
It's a really tough match-up. I hate the guy on sites where his price is higher. But pricing him in the exact same neighborhood as Forsett and Hill? The upside is just too great. If the Cowboys' O-line can move Detroit's vicious front 7 at all, Murray has the highest upside of any back on the board - and all at the same price. Interesting spot for sure.
Wide Receivers
Antonio Brown - 9500
As we wrote in our main picks article, Brown is the best receiver in football in a great match-up. The price is super high, but if you're saving up elsewhere, this is where you spend.
Kelvin Benjamin
Also in the picks article, linked above.
Draftster only plays
Steve Smith - 4400
He's just so cheap here in comparison with other WRs that offer similar value that he simply has to be worth noting. While Torrey Smith has siphoned off a lot of his red zone looks, Smith is back to being Flacco's most targeted receiver - drawing 12 in each of his last 2 games, and 5 and 11 targets before that. He offers an upside punch that no other receiver in this price tier does, and Pittsburgh is absolutely susceptible to the long ball.
Calvin Johnson - 9300
I like Brown better, but it's hard to argue with Megatron's upside as well. Again, you're paying, but this is the type of guy you want to pay for. In a week where there's no legitimate running back to pay up for, you might even be able to afford both Brown AND Johnson. While Brown seems eminently safer, one has to think that the Lions aren't losing this game without Johnson getting 15 targets against a pretty specious Dallas secondary.
Tight Ends
Boring, but it's the same as our main picks article here. Witten and Gresham, and then the field by a long ways.
Defenses
Carolina Panthers
As on other sites, the Panthers are the play of the day. Unlike other sites, it's by a mile. The Panthers ought to be the highest priced D, and they are priced 5th out of the 8 teams playing this weekend. It's a joke. As much as I like the upside potential of Lindley/Floyd on their terribly low prices, I just cited the most relevant combo on the opposing offense as Lindley and Floyd. Other teams look like this: Luck/Hilton, Roethlisberger/Brown, Stafford/Johnson, Flacco/Smith Bros, Newton/Benjamin, Romo/Bryant, Dalton/Green. Okay, that last one might suck too. But I'm going Panthers here.
