Weekly disclaimer:
Want our week 15 picks? Go check them out. The whole concept of a sleeper in one week fantasy football games needs to be adjusted. First of all, there's no real such thing as a "sleeper," in that you're not really going to sleep on a guy until he wakes up. What you're looking at with cheap plays are guys who are priced very reasonably who could go off if all things break right. Sniffing out the best cheap plays with upside is really the only way to have a chance in hell at taking down some of these utterly massive NFL tournaments. You'll pay up for the big names, and then hope your bargain plays pay off. That's where we come in - here are some sleepers that we love for Week 15.
Derek Anderson - FD 5000 DK 5000 DD 14750 DFSTR
We can only go off of what we've seen, and the one game Anderson played he put up 3.6x this FanDuel price against the Bucs. We saw this with Fitzpatrick a couple of weeks ago, and while no one should expect a 40 point performance from Anderson, the point with picks like this is that he doesn't NEED to be the best to pay off this price. The cost savings you can grab with Anderson are simply insane, and for me, he'l be a guy I play nearly everywhere. You heard that correctly.
Marquess Wilson - FD 4500 DK 3000 DD 7150 DFSTR
Wilson will step into Brandon Marshall's role at a minimum price, but I'd caution you against using him in cash game formats. Could he show up and go for 100 yards and a touch? Anything is possible. But he has absolutely no relationship with Cutler, and has exactly 1 week taking snaps with the first team in practice. I think that Marshall's targets will get split between Jeffery and Bennett, but there's some chance that Wilson will put up a monster. He will be a HUGE play based on industry buzz, though, and I might move in the direction of fading him.
Blake Bortles - FD 6400 DK 5200 DD 10200 DFSTR
Allen Hurns - FD 5600 DK 4000 DD 6500 DFSTR
Well, they don't call them sleepers for nothing, right? We've been down this road with Bortles in our sleepers articles before, and gotten some criticism. But here's the thing - he's paid 2x and 3x on these FanDuel prices in the last 2 weeks, even while generally playing like trash. And the interesting thing? Baltimore is the best match-up he's had yet. They're the league's 30th ranked pass defense this year. So where does Hurns fit in? With Robinson gone and Shorts flailing, Hurns has averaged 9 targets in the last 2 weeks. While he hasn't done a whole heck of a lot, the upside is very real, and the price is excellent.
Chris Ivory - FD 5200 DK 4200 DD 7000 DFSTR
Ivory has been fantasy leprosy this year, but bear with me. He's gotten 16 carries in each of the last two games, the prices really don't get any lower than this, and Tennessee has been horrrrrrrrrrrrrible against the run this year. Terrible. The worst in the league by 5 rushing yards per game. Lineups with Ivory have the potential for tremendous upside.
Pierre Garcon - FD 6000 DK 4800 DD 7850 DFSTR
We need to keep our eye on what's going on with Garcon and McCoy. We saw what he's capable of in huge targets last season, and if we're going to get more of that, he could be a very sneaky play against the Giants. It strikes me as pretty darn risky since he's come and gone, but if it turns out that McCoy sees him as the #1 he was last year, this price will go up by 10% overnight.
LeGarrette Blount - FD 6500 DK 4400 DD 8000 DFSTR
Feels kinda cheesy calling him a sleeper. I don't think people are really sleeping on him. But! With 16 carries each of the last two weeks and New England's clear goal line back, I think there's real upside this week. Miami's pass defense has been fantastic this year, but their rush defense has gotten absolutely buried in the last two weeks. It's looking like questionable weather in Foxboro, and that could push the needle even further toward the Pats' run game.
Not for me: Johnny Manziel. I get the upside argument. Throwing to Josh Gordon is great and all. But tons of people will be on the guy, and we haven't seen much at the NFL level yet. I'm going to let others take the risk.
