Anu Solomon - FD 8800 DK 7700
I actually hate quarterback for the late slate. The guys that offer safety are priced beyond their normal output and/or have less than desirable matchups. Solomon is my top QB play on FanDuel and one of a few favorites on Draftkings. Solomon hasn’t been great lately with only one multi touchdown game in his last four. He did throw five TD’s in that game though and the game before his little dry spell was a five TD game as well. Richy Rod runs fast-paced tempo and even though Zona looks like a running team at times, they play bombs away quite a bit. They have talent everywhere on the offensive side of the ball and are deep too. Anu will be able to spread the ball around and keep the Buffalo defense guessing. Colorado is a great matchup for Solomon to have another five TD night. There’s always fear the talented backs from Arizona might vulture some touchdowns, but this one oozes big game sex appeal (savvy pro term).
Connor Cook - FD 7300 DK 5500
This is a tough call. While I think Lippett will do just fine, his production alone won’t be enough to allow Cook to hit his number. I’m a huge a believer in Cook and he screams one of those guys that just kind of hangs under the radar, gets drafted in the 6th round and goes on to win 3 Super Bowls (overstatement). I might be getting ahead of myself there, but Cook made huge strides last year and picked up right where he left off. The rub on Cook is more about his real-life effectiveness doesn’t always translate to a solid fantasy day. He has the ability and this game won’t be a blowout, one of the things that have prevented Cook from having better numbers. I won’t be playing him a ton on Draftkings, as I think there is enough value with other guys, but on Fanduel I’m just not feeling the prices of most your options. It’s going to be a good game to watch and if you have Cook in your lineups it will give that nice little boost we all get when there’s action on the line.
Consider: Draftkings – Grant Hedrick, Rakeem Cato, Garrett Grayson
Donnel Pumphrey - FD 8200
My Man Pots and Pans. Pump Master Flex. Mr. Dash & Gash. Okay, I'm done. Oh boy do I love this guy, even more than I loved Aaron Jones for the early slate. SDST only runs the ball and they run the ball mainly with Pumphrey. Last week was a real sore spot for Pump Master Flex. He was held to 80 yards, which was his lowest total on the year, and he fumbled twice, losing both. Let me tell you something, and I know because I know these kinds of things, Donnel is going to go buck ass wild Saturday night. Players like Pumphrey don’t like it very much when they stink up the joint. Idaho is one of the worst rush defenses in the country coming in at 119th. That was 119th. Unlike the early slate I think the late slate has a gaggle of really solid running back options. He has the same huge game potential as the top end backs, but for 2k less. This has all the makings of a monster game. I guess we’ll see, but man look out, simply look out.
Matt Jones - FD 6100 DK 4800
Wow is this dude is enigmatic. He seemingly disappears one week then totally crushes the next. Last week against Georgia, MJ ran wild to the tune of 196 yards on 25 carries and he was able to cross the goal line twice. The two weeks before last he combined for 52 yards on 16 carries, COMBINED. The price is right. The matchup is right. Jones should have a good game and should help your lineup finish in the black ($or green$). Jones is a big powerful back and possibly has a bright future playing on Sundays. Last year Jones was tabbed as RB1, but he came down with some weird viral infection thingy which caused him to miss the beginning of the season. Shortly after returning he blew out a knee. Entering this year he was healthy and battling fellow backfield mate, Kelvin Taylor. Many expected Taylor to take the job and run with it, literally, but Jones just won't go away and has actually been the better back this year. Facing a beleaguered Vanderbilt team should pose zero threat to stopping Jones. Florida has little passing game and relies heavily on its backfield. Taylor will certainly get his touches, but the only that will prevent Jones from crushing this number will be Jones himself.
Michael Dyer - FD 7100 DK 5200
Finally someone has delivered from the Cardinal backfield. Louisville was having major issues settling on a running back in the early going. Two weeks ago Dyer burst on the scene with 24 carries for 173 yards and a score. He followed that up with 28 carries for 128 yards and three scores against Florida State. I’d say he earned himself the feature role for the rest of the season. In addition to Dyer stepping up, the Cardinals got DeVante Parker back a couple weeks ago as well. Suddenly Louisville’s offense is balanced with player makers on the outside and in the backfield. Boston College isn’t a great matchup, but at these prices I think Dyer will do what you need him to do. The volume is there and he is one of the main options when it’s time put the kids to bed and go hunting for dinner.
Tony Lippett - FD 7000 DK 6600
Lippett is going to give the Ohio State secondary fits all night. The Buckeye secondary was the weaker aspect of their defense (still good) to begin with and now they have to deal with a big fast receiver, forgettaboutit. Lippett is 6’3” about 200lbs and runs in the low 4.4’s. This is a marquee matchup on national television and the stars like to shine in this kind of scenario. This is going to be a slugfest, which will likely decide the Big Ten East. Lippett has scored in every game except week 8 against Illinois. Michigan State runs a balanced offense with Langford in the backfield and Lippett out wide so Ohio St. will have to play them honest. The game has a reasonable total teetering around 55 with the Spartans as a small 3.5 favorite. Perfect, a close game with decent points.
DeVante Parker - FD 7600 DK 6800
Two Louisville Cardinals in the same article? I never thought it would happen, but I guess it did. The Cardinal offense has been pretty stagnant all year, until a couple weeks ago that is. Parker has been back for two games and in those two games he has caught 17 passes for 346 yards, and zero scores. Is he due? Just kidding. So in two short games Parker is already 5th on the team in receptions and 2nd in receiving yards. His price is climbing and it will continue to do so. Parker has yet to reach his full potential and could be a star in the making. He should pay this number on volume alone and if he finds pay dirt he’ll help make up for the one dud that’s bound to find its way into your lineup.
Jordan Payton - FD 7000 DK 4800
UCLA lacks elite talent on the outside and doesn’t have the greatest of depth either. Jordan Payton, however, is pretty good as he is currently rated as the 50ish (depending on source) wide receiver. That’s not great, but it does mean there are some things to like about his game. In terms of DFS, I’ll tell what I like. I like his price. I like that he has a top level QB throwing him the ball. I like that he dominates the volume and scoring opportunities in the passing game. I like his price. That’s enough likes. Play him, especially on Draftkings.
Pharaoh Brown - FD 4500 DK 3100
Now that I stealthily removed all the Dorito finger prints from my couch and luckily avoided wife detection I can actually bring you a TE tonight. His price on Fanduel changes things bit, but on Draftkings I will be running Brown as often as possible. I say as often as possible because there really isn't a TE that’s worth sacrificing at other positions. Think of the TE as middle management in a large corporation. If you need to trim some fat, TE is the first place I look. Brown presents some matchup issues with his athleticism and Oregon present matchup issues with their insane amount of talent at the skilled positions. His opportunity to score is one of the best among TE’s.
